congratulations JonnnnY!
borgulz and you were the only 2 to complete both Kakuro and KakuroII. well done, some of the puzzles were very difficult. any recommendations for Kakuro III?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I completed the first puzzle with what appears to be a correct solution, but it says that it's wrong. And it marks red a bunch of boxes for rows that are clearly correct, so the red boxes don't help! Is this just "you didn't solve it the way I expected you to"?? Needs better solution-checking ability and a clearer way to mark "here's where the problem is".
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hrm. When you solve a puzzle and click "check" and then click "check" again it gives you two of the giant green checkmarks, so one of them gets stuck and never goes away
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
One thing I just noticed is if you use 'check' and something happens to be wrong (say you mistyped in the very last square) and then you fix that thing and click check again without pressing the 'ok' box from that first wrong check, it will still come up as wrong

thanks for the comment cybird, i think i fixed the bug, let me know if it works for you. i would love it if kong included badges for this game, hey you never know. i've included the api for it, so suggest something?

Nice hard levels for kakuro. I see a bug :
If you save a game, then quit. When you continue (in the 1rst menu), complet it and check it with success, this level is always not solved and your high-score (in Kongregate database) don't count it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like it. One thing might be that once you do 'check' and it says 'success!' when you click on the 'ok' it will take you back to the puzzle menu? It's just an extra click, so not a big hassle, but might be nice

added functionality so that if you have a number entered into a box, and you hit that number again it removes number.
i.e.
you have a box with "3456" in it. you press "6" and it will remove the 6 in the box so it now reads "345"

thanks for the suggestion crythias, i have added use of movement with wasd and arrow keys. using the helper you can use the mouse to enter a number. so that way game can be played with only mouse or only keyboard.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Love Kakuro. If anything else, I'd like to use the arrow keys/WASD to move between boxes, or click and a 3x3 box to enter/choose a number is possible. The better (imho) crossword interfaces use the [Spacebar] to choose whether to to go across or down. If you get to choose multiple numbers, though, then that won't work. (I can't currently type [3][1] for \4 [ ][ ]). Going back and forth between mouse and keyboard is tedious. Also, a timer would be nice.I don't care about the music because I mute everything here anyway.
Finishing a puzzle should offer to go to the next puzzle in the set. Start/Continue don't work intuitively, because other games might reset completely if you choose "start". "continue" doesn't make sense: if you've finished a puzzle, "continue" may return you to that completed puzzle, not go to the menu to choose a new puzzle.

thanks rosw.
i replaced 29 with a new puzzle, and i think i fixed the problem with the high scores. please let me know if you find anything else!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have done them all, inc. bonuses, up to puzzle 29 (and they've all been fine); i.e. I'm on the fifth column (coz I didn't notice the second page of puzzles until I'd finished the first).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hmmm puzzle 29 does indeed have a problem, i thought i checked all of these before i published them...
nice job rosw, have you solved any of the bonus puzzles, or puzzles on the second page yet? i see 3 people with a score of 18, i wonder if the extra puzzles i added are not counting towards the higscore...

Great game. I love it (especially the way the text gets bigger when there's less in a square -- very satisfying). And I love the way it's so easy to make notes (they don't even have to be numbers).
--- But I've got a problem with Puzzle 29: the top left corner has 5 as the sum of just one box, and 3 using 2 boxes, one of which is the box with the 5 -- and this is obviously undoable. Also the 24 below the 5 has no boxes, and 23 can't be done in 7 boxes. Does anyone else have this problem?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This is fun :D
...save is screwed up, though, I beat the first one after beating the next three, and it won't register as being completed :c
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i'm impressed kerlossos!
i am in the process of adding another page of puzzles.
did you use the helper?
i requested a badge for completion but kongregate did not feel the game was badge worthy...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
- ok leaving the helper in for now with option to disable.
- you can now add more than one number a cell for note taking.
has anyone solved puzzle 18? its difficult.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I love kakuro and and this is one of the best online versions I've seen. The only other thing that I look for in Kakuro is a way to make pencil marks/scratch marks to keep track of the possible answers for each square. 5/5 good game!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i've gone and bumped you up to 5 stars (from 2) but, as i said before, music would help. no worries if you're working on it, though. a great game now the helper's optional (probably better than if it was gone entirely).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
when you complete a level and click on "check", you should see a green check mark animation, and then when you go back to the "puzzles" screen, you should see a green check next to the puzzle number. it works on my computer, but i dont know if thats just because i designed it on this computer...
if someone finishes a level, can you confirm if the green check shows up? is it still there after you close out the game and open it back up again?
this is my first attempt at using the SharedObject.getLocal(); function to store and retrieve data on users computer. thank you!

As a mathematician, the interesting part I find about the game is the logic AFTER you've done the arithmetic computations. I'd rather have the basic nonsense done for me by the helper so I can enjoy the raw logic of putting it together. You have the combinations memorized soon enough anyway, and the helper is only there for those whose memories are somewhat behind their logic abilities.

Ok, here's the case. Either you like do twist your brain solving kakuro/sudoku/sumdoku or you don't. There is no middle way. Trying to please everyone, will get you nowhere, IMHO. So, I for my part would like the bar removed completely.
As for the music, I'm sure you'll get it eventually.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i found the game too hard without the helper! i guess i underestimated my audience...
i put a check box to disable the helper, is that enough or should i just removed it altogether? has anyone actually solved any of the puzzles yet? i really appreciate all the feedback, i know its a pretty simple game, but i'm still learning.
i have no idea how to do the music part, but that is next goal.
thanks again.

the white bar at the bottom must go. i'm normally a fan of these type of games, but there's no game here to play until it goes. 2/5, rising to 4 without the bar and 5 with some (mutable) music.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like Kakuros and Sudokus. But as said before, the help bar must go. And add some chilling music. Like in 3D logic 2. 3/5
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Not sure that bar at the botto is working. Shouldn't it be reacting to numbers I've entered? Also be nice if I could enter a nimber by clicking on it in the bar.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
and finally, the help bar on the bottom kind of ruined the game too....it took away the only element of challenge there was.. 2/5
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
oh I see, no repeats....I understood it well but the instructions were too wordy, giving an example on a full scale proportion was a good idea, but not considering the fact that it was stumbling over itself
