Haha, I prefer "you're breathtaking"! I totally get it and sorry I couldn't squeeze it into this prototype. I'm learning lessons each game though and I made sure my most recent game had both an ending and longer gameplay.

Maybe make it so that you can build/upgrade a "base" and add an aquarium to display biggest fish? And maybe different oceans of fishing areas to unlock over time, each with different fish.
Yea, actually all those ideas you mentioned are the ones I'm considering in a full version. You can't have a proper fishing game without an aquarium after all :) I think the aquarium would actually give gameplay bonuses though because I'm disappointed when aquariums don't do anything but display your fish.

I really enjoyed this, I love games with upgrades! It would be lovely if there was more content. I like the idea of an aquarium or fish collection that gave the player some kind of boost. Also, maybe a Kongregate achievement?
Thanks and I agree with the upgrade comment. That's actually one of the main reasons I made the collection system the way it is, because I like achievements but can be a bit disheartened when I don't get anything out of it, so I tried to create very strong upgrades for the player in this game. This prototype is one of many I'm currently developing so I won't be adding content any time soon, but at the end of the prototyping period I'll be looking over all the feedback and seeing which one to finish out so stand by and this one may be the one getting picked :)

This is honestly a great deal of fun, and I can see a bright future when/if you decide to expand on the prototype. Because it's so simple so much can be added, things like quests, Bosses, different boats, and of course more fish and places to explore. I really like what this can become, and I wish you luck.
Thanks for the feedback! Yea, the more I read suggestions the more I can see the final path for this game. I think it's great core and can really expand on the fishing theme and have all kinds of new upgrades in that area.

hey i know i leave a lot of comments but i just want everyone to know that grinding high scores on this game is a ton of fun, i've now reached number one on both minnows and shrimp.

The game is really fun to play but its really short. I would really like to see a bigger version. If it was a steam game i would totally buy it (besides that im broke).
I appreciate the comment and it means even more because you are broke lol. I definitely want to release a steam game at some point but I got a lot to learn first which is why I'm doing so much prototyping right now.

Nah sorry, that was a system I ended up taking out because the UI wasn't implemented well and it was confusing players. I forgot to take it out of the UI actually and did hope to reintroduce it. So yea, you did see the whole game already!

Game has since wiped out all my progress since I reviewed last. Previously it was doing fine and I was able to refresh to update the leaderboard but now it's all just... gone. I'll try to see if it might come back but I highly doubt it.
Dang really sorry about that :(. I use a standard saving system but I know Kong can be kinda random about when it chooses to wipe saves and whatnot. In the future I'll definitely have to have something more robust or one of those save-import features.

Thanks for playing, yea that mechanic is intentional to give it a challenge but I could use some better visuals to explain that, such as buoys for boundaries rather than walls.

Hey there is a glitch and i don't know if this is a developer glitch but it's most likely kongregate but every time i check the today leaderboard and it gives me the all time score which isn't fair for everyone.
Ah yea I have it set up so it only tracks the amount of fish you caught in your lifetime rather than how much you actually caught in that time period. So I guess if someone with a huge all time score happened to log in that week, he would appear at the top. Unless you meant it ONLY shows all time score, in that case it seems like a Kong issue.

Great concept! Like others say- the only thing that's missing is content. More fish to, well, fish. More benchmark bonuses for catching fish: I'm thinking past 100 maybe 500, 1000, 2500, etc. Further upgrades are a must- and I'm thinking even sort of "cash-wasters" like sort of skins for your boat. Runs relatively smoothly, there's a single bug I encounter which causes your boat to be stuck going a single direction, though that clears after a few seconds, and the fish going through walls is a bit odd, since there are spots where they basically get stuck and you can't get them. Overall for where it's at, 10/10 for me! I'm trying to beat the highscore for most shrimp caught. At the time of writing this I believe I am #55 All Time, I'm coming for you, shrimp catchers!
Lol you guys are going too crazy on the high score board! Thanks for the thorough feedback. There are lots of ways I can go with adding content so I'm glad to have your input since that'll help me choose a direction. I certainly want to add those bigger rewards like 1000+ fish caught. I had considered adding in some automation systems to help with that grind. That would change the gameplay a lot but I hope it's for the better.

I'm confused why you would upload a half finished game. I maximized all the collections and that's just it? If you were going for an incremental game with no real ending, I wouldn't have played this. I like the RPG aspect, but there's just no payoff.
My goal is to knock out of bunch of rapid prototypes to explore different concepts. I plan to push the design limits on most of these which is the reason I'm releasing as quick as I can. The worst case scenario for any dev is to spend a long time on a game only for no one to play it, and the riskier the design, the higher chance there is of that happening. Sorry if you're looking for a longer experience, you probably won't see that from me any time soon. If you're looking to check out game concepts that are different from what else is out there though, stick around and I hope you can find something you like :)

When do you think the next update is coming out? I really like this game, but would really like some new content, like more fish and epic boss battles. One thing you could add would be a kind of fish that only spawns when you have a certain # of a kind of fish. For example, a sperm whale might appear if you have 5 squids in your boat.
I rwally would appreciate more content.
Thanks for the feedback, I hadn't heard that idea yet. I had the concept of requiring bait in your boat to catch something which is a pretty similar concept. Really the only reason I took it out was because I couldn't figure out a good UI to teach the player that concept at the time. I'm currently working on some new prototypes so updates will not be coming any time soon unfortunately, but I will have another game out soon :)
I appreciate that and that's what I was going for! I wasn't really sure if people would enjoy a fishing game without fishing so I needed a prototype to validate that idea before going forward. The feedback has been pretty positive so far so that's encouraging.

Fun concept for a prototype, only issue I had was that the max cargo was 40 and the medium fish were 3 units each so at max you could never fully fill it unless you went back to catch a smaller fish. In my opinion either the medium fish need to be 2 size or the cargo max size needs to be a multiple of 3 (whether that be 39 or 42)
Yea, someone pointed out one of the perks doesn't even trigger as a result of this (the one where you need a full cargo). Totally an oversight on my part and a future version will change how that works.

I did'nt see that boat was upgradable due to screen wrong positioning, so I spend a lot of time collecting shrimp to raise boat level and catch kobi.
When I realized that coul improve boat (wal on level 5) in a little I started take every fish. Funny. Great job.

Very nice game, though the lack of upgrades to fishing line range makes it a BIT hard to catch more then one bass at a time, to the point where swordfish are infinitely easier because they stay still or charge at you.
Good point, I was trying to be careful about line range since I didn't want it to get out of hand. But you're right, since this was just a prototype I could've given the player some more slack there. Thanks for the feedback!
