*sigh* no matter how many times i refresh its just a big gray box, and even when (a few hours ago) i COULD play, it kept disconnecting me.

Boys have cooties. It's better to be a girl. But if you want to have cooties, after the tutorial, click on the character editor and you can change your gender to a boy.
