I have truly enjoyed this game as well as the second chapter and want to point out a couple of things that have caused me to like it so. First off is the old school graphics for this type of game. The little walking pixel animation games have always appealed to me ever since I got indepth into video games, and it's simple, works, and doesn't truly matter in a great game. Reminds me of the good ol' Pokemon Games when I was young. The other point is the plot. It has diversity. That is a main thing people have to consider nowadays. Diversity is great and the plot is not your simple revenge or stopping the antagonists' search of power. It shows that games don't always have to sound the same. And the little humor here and there is very nice. Few known bugs, no big deal. This chapter of the series is seemingly perfect, in my opinion. I expect more of this type progress on the other chapters. 5/5 Props to Psuedo.

Pretty good beginning for a Flash RPG. I especially liked the humor of the townspeople and the fourth wall bits. Off to Chapter 2, I suppose.

I'd like to say I really enjoyed this game -- the dialogue is quite funny and I like the battle system and artwork. I'd like to see more bosses, though! And having multiple sidequests would make the game very well-rounded. Thanks for the great game!

ALSO, people, if you're going to give criticism because you didn't like the game, PLEASE elaborate! Tell me WHY you didn't like it, and how it could be improved. Otherwise your comments are... somewhat hurtful, and entirely useless to me. I appreciate helpful, critical feedback on what I can do better, but just "this sux -5/5!!!" tells me what, exactly?
Before commenting, please consider how you'd feel if you received a similar comment.

Tsk... You can't even say "girls have breasts!" these days without being called SEXIST...
That book about Elemental Compatability and so on is based on observation and common patterns in human partner-choosing. Like it or not, the majority seem to go for certain traits, and females look for someone to "protect them" and "look after them", often. How many girls want a boyfriend who's shorter, weaker, and less confident than she is? How many want a guy who can "provide for her"?
I elaborated on it a lot [here].
I'm addressing this because I don't want people to think I'm sexist, because I'm really not!

I really enjoyed the simplicity and wittiness of this game... obviously the graphics didn't blow me away, but that didn't actually take much away from the experience... one thing I didn't like was how short this game was... but, I have not yet played MARDEK RPG: Chapter 2, which I hear is much longer. Anyways, I thought MARDEK was well made... and I'm definitely looking forward to playing number 2.

so very very very confused............
ASD do nothing in battle... FYI...
I can't find the "menu" to map out keys...
mouse clicking to do a lot of things is very annoying.
and a lot of menus like when it says a door is locked - does not change when you press x - like it should.

Funny, entertaining dialogue supplemented with great gameplay, 5/5. I like the retro feel, but the cursor sometimes is hard to control. Looking forward to all the chapters, and I hope you put them here.

This is a pretty good game. I'm usually not into game dialogue but I found this game's dialogue very witty and somewhat entertaining. The graphics are obviously bad. The game controls are clunky. I don't like having to switch between the mouse for the menus and the keyboard for the main controls. The keyboard controls seem quirky too. Sometimes I have to hit a button twice to get something to happen and other times I hit a button once and it registers as if I hit it twice. Playing this first game in the series definitely has me excited to play more games in the series. 4/5

I played this a long time ago and I am glad it now has badges. Such a brillantly clever and witty pisstake, although perhaps comments from people who don't get it are wittier though certainly not cleverer!
I hope that the rest of the chapters will be posted on Kongregate soon.

this was a fun but a error when i left my house cause me to finish this game with only one character, a bit tougher i imagine but still fun.

a very nice game, i liked it a lot. even though the battles where pretty annoying. maybe you should control them via keyboard, its much smoother then clicking.

in response to TM119 no where did the creators claim they were introducing anything new. you may be bitter but being objective about things, there's nothing really wrong with the what the game offers. the setting for the story is interesting and a breath of fresh air from more objective and serious storyline types and like mentioned, it's in lieu of the early FF games. I don't see what the fuss is all about. There are always other games if you need your 'revolutionary new gameplay' fix.

Unfortunately, this is just that, a final fantasy game. I'm not sure why people are still drawn to completely random battles and turn based style, but they are. The game play is boring. the looting is not auto and the clicking to attack is an even worse system than repeatedly jamming A to get it over with. once you figure out an element weakness, that's the end of the difficulty. Battle should be an implementation to exploring, not a cut scene that distracts you from what you're really trying to do.
If you like mindless bashing, ignoring elemental weaknesses for that mindless bashing and a faulted UI system with the automation of gouging out your eyes with a wooden spoon, this game's for you. That would be everyone that enjoyed FF1 and think that the FF series has gone downhill from there. For the rest of gamers that like to see game play progress and not live in the past, stay away from this game.

wow dude! amazing game! i like the reaction feature to it. adds a new twist to rpg games. i will for sure be playing chapter 2. just make sure it has some badges for it. 5/5

My saved game no longer exists. If only the badges were created a few weeks ago. O-well, I'm not complaining much since I love this game.

This game is so good I'd pay for more. This is seriously well made.
side note: I'm glad there's not many hiding places in peoples houses like pots, cabinets, bookshelves, etc... that always makes my anal retentiveness ruin a game.

Very good.
I love the way it pays homage to, yet at the same time mocks the old RPG games.
Having grown up playing (and still do occasionally play) the old RPGs, this series is great.
I'm off to play part 2!
