The ending is absolutely melancholic, then beautifully funny, then melancholic again. One of the best, if not the best, flash games I've ever played. 5/5

@Xulis, to train spell resist (and probably the other skills you are having trouble with) go to the skills menu, use the arrow keys to find magic defense reactions, then use the arrow keys to select the skill, then hit X. This will equip the ability as a reaction, then every time you are attacked with magic and successfully use the reaction, it will gain one AP. Hope that helps.

btw you also need to nerf bosses so that they dont use their mass 1 hit killing Magic every time they take turn cause they only seem to do that i mean seriously bosses arent even sappose to use mass 1 hit killing spells sure its okay if they have 1 hit killing spells on 1 guy but when its entire party you can barely do a thing i mean Kranos is maybe seriously Hard but its not as annoying and god modding as the Bone demon cause i managed to get his hp to half even when i didnt have my team at level 30 i just keeped suppresing him so that he would contiously change his weaknesses and Strenghts

Bone Demon needs to be Nerfed a HELL of alot hes harder then even the God Bosses like Kronos
and the other guy but seriously even if he has loads of hp doesnt change the fact that he uses his Raging inferno and stuff twice in a row and my guys cant handle it even if i have it at 100 risistance because he also uses earthquake and it shouldnt be that you need to buy both an earth Amulet and a Fire cause he also uses dark you shouldnt need to have risistance to everything when you cant!

glad to see the 3th part is such a nice game :) loved the first 2 mardek games aswel still in the middle of playing however only have one question:
how do i train the armor skills?
aka: dark robe has (spell resist 30%: 0/20) but can't figure out how to get one of my mages to learn (master it if u understand it easier)

Missed a total of 6 times against a Happy Johnny which subsequently wiped out my party with 800-1000 hits. Seems a bit radical.

Chests with really powerful monsters everywhere take the fun right out of this... and when the Game Over screen suggests a different game, well I have to agree, this is not for me >:(

...BOSSES= OVER POWERED im like lvl 30 and get killed in 1 hit by the water temple guardian...its just not right....still 5/5. great game to :D...just hope the bosses in the next one aren't so over powered in the next one :(

guys, where can i get a walkthrough of this? i wasnt able to read the next quest properly about getting the element crystals.. i dont know where to go after the sun and dark temple.

omg, it's so stupid that there's a boss after the earth guardian, took me forever to the guardian and now there's a
boss, what the hell!

To all haters:
This game was made in sprite form to give it a classic feel
Saying this is a rip off of FF is just stupid, try and count how many turn-by-turn games there are good luck
And the one thing i cant stand. People hate games because there not made in the ultimate game software, id like to see your games

Dammit... I wish I could fight Karnos and Animus again, or even the bone demon or the security demon... Could you please add the possibility of fighting these bosses again? Like, a "boss battle" game mode, in which you load any file and fight bosses?

I finished the Light Temple without defeating a Sekil (#55). Does it appear elsewhere or should I start a new game if I want the cataloguer award?

Can't believe how great of a game and series it is as well as how much time and effort had to be put into making such an incredible game with amazing conversations / storyline / quests. All-around definitely the BEST game on Kongregate. The only thing holding the rating back is the mere fact that many people who don't like RPGs in the first place come in and rate it low, putting this game's rating at an unfair disadvantage against other simple games where the people with 0 attention span and knowledge of what real games like this are rate crap like "Screw the Nut 2" a 5/5, and the games that REALLY deserve a 5/5 like MARDEK are somehow even close to having the same rating as eachother. But I got a bit off topic, this is the best and most well-made game on Kongregate, despite whatever the RATING says. Kudos to you, Pseudolonewolf.

A very thorough, comprehensive game that is intricate in its detail and enjoyable in its gameplay. Sure, the load time is big, but it's only because the game is so big. I have encountered no game faults, only failing because of my less-than-stellar gameplaying style. A definite 5/5. I like the new spree of near console-quality RPGs that are coming to Kongregate. This game would definitely survive and sell on a small handheld gaming system, so I'm glad the developer decided to go online (free) instead.

umm... i dont like the game (because of old time graphics and no idea what to do) but i did like the starting story line i just think you should make it a little more understandable

YAY! You finished the game. Thank you. And I noticed the reference to your first attempt at this sort of game, Deliverance in the Lizard town. Nice subtlety.

@PseudoLoneWolf
man, when i first started playing this series i was hooked. Pretty much the same way i was hooked when i played my first final fantasy game. You've tied in a compelling and entertaining storyline to a very hardcore RPG system. The descriptions are hilarious as well as the commentary. I really want to commend you and you're team for all this, i really appreciate the good work. If you had made this in 1995 for a console i think you'd be quite rich by now.
Thanks a lot, Throw in a few more TallyHoes for me :)

Just annihilated Animus, yeah! It was pretty straightforward when he had less than 10 spr and gloria had over 80... Still, his Omega attack was VERY dangerous. Having 0 spr, he still brought my hp down to less than half (everyone even had 50% aether resistance) with ballad of balance on. I guess i'm done here, which is too bad... It had a lot of fun playing this game, and i can safely call it the best rpg flash game ever made.

i have to say im impressed i wasnt really into chapte 1 and 2 then i decided to play this game.BEST.CHOICE.I.EVER.MADE this like the best game and i ussaly dont play a online pixel game for 3 hours and im in the dark temple thing i give this OVER 9000/5

Quest and story triggers need work. Somehow ended up skipping a huge portion of the intro level and went directly to an elemental cave (without trying to do so) and the sandstorm caves are inaccessible from the main map after you leave... retarded shit

Insane game, Great job! Don't listen to peoples hate comments, they're just upset because they took it up the ass too hard last night by there poppa.

It's a game like Mardek that makes me really rethink giving 5/5 to anything. This game blows away the competition. Can't wait for the next chapter!!

Is there a way to get 3 candriathopes? I want to forge the robot's best armour and Mardeck's best helmet but can only find 2 :(

I feel so bad for Qualna, I dislike Rophoph! I hope in the end he's actually possesed by the violet crystal and i have to kill him!

This is a great game -- great detail, great artwork, and great music! It must have been a lot of work to compose it yourself. The one complaint I have is that I have wound up really disliking Mardek. He gets all the stupid/silly parody dialogue, and it has removed all emotional depth from him. I know certain plot events cause that...but still. He's the title character, and I want to like him more.
