Mardek is hell for perfectionists. "Optional" isn't so bad if it wasn't for these battles that take so long and come up quite frequently.

I think instead of writing about the map why dont you put an screenshot and show us where to go. The temple desctiptions are very confusing (especially the water and the dark ones). I didnt get anything from the forest part too!

Its written in the Fig Hunter wiki that pseudolonewolf will work on Mardek 4 after making Fig Hunter Online (another game like Mardek) which he will start working on after he's finished developing "New Raider: Alora Fane". So it'll probably be quite a while before we can play Mardek 4

Just to say, the walkthrough says there's no point attacking the zombies, but the first zombie I killed dropped a one handed mace which does 22 damage, which is way better than the iron sword I had

After defeating the shaman, head back to Canonia and talk to the captain in the barracks, you'll receive a thousand gold.

Lmao.. It's been like Six comments with Under rating threshold. Oh well. Further on, the game is great, and the walkthrough is great as well. The fact that it's Spoiler Free also helps in making people feel more inclined to play the game.

futago: read the walkthrough thouroughly...
or follow these instructions: at the 'woodhearthenge'(the circular area with the dream circle):
1) go up...
2) follow the path(don't go into the northern path with the crystal tree) until you reach another circle
3) in the normal world again, the path is quite different :P follow it anyway, ignoring the northern path yet again(this time it leads to the earth temple, which you can't get into yet)
4) at the end of this path, you should see the serpent's lair
