Looks like theres also a change in roon #25, MUCH more challenging now, that new and improved ladder jump cost me my first life of the run (was kinda hoping to go without deaths) :(
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Uhh, can you make the ladders to the fgolden fig longer? its almost impossible to get it. And make a checkpoint in the beginning of 1_21
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Love the game. I hate that I suck at it!!!! Always sucked at these jump to avoid the spikes games and always will. Alas I will never see level 2.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Wow... much more challenging, indeed! I wonder what sparked the change all of a sudden? Perhaps the room was TOO easy before?

Glitch when you die on hard mode, easy button was out of place and flashing like crazy, also the timer kept incrementing...

To people having problems with the controls:
1. The controls of this game can be costumized!
2. There were practically no physics added to the movement of the games hero(there arent any noticeable acceleration- and braking-forces when moving around, you are perfectly able to control you character in mid-air, and stuff like this), so when you press right, your hero is moving right, or, when you jump, you hero is jumping - without you having to think about fancy physics or to anticipate some fancy physics. This is as easy as controls can possibly get for a game like this!(and cheap)

Btw, there is a lot more effort required to design hard stages that require the player to use his heros abilities with a maximum finesse, without making them unfair(and this game surely isnt unfair, it can be played from start to the end without getting touched by anything harmfull at all), when compared to creating some easy stages which require no finesse at all.

Great playing, not all that original game(in the majority of cases, originality tends to be pseudo and gimmick anyway - just have a look at music catch). The graphics look perfectly suitable and the main music-theme sounds suprisingly good.
To all the person asking questions like Efreeti:
Do you people realise that some players like the stages of a game to be designed as a challenge and get bored quickly when playing games so easy that they can be played without having to turn your brain on? Anyway, there is an easy mode which IS easy - so whats the point with all that whining? I start to wonder if all these grey blood- honor-having-to-wear-a-big-gun-games, wannabees have to play these days, turn them into diaper princesses...

ShadowOfHollow, I just tested that, using the default controls but with UP for jump, and I can grab onto ladders easily. The key to grab ladders is whatever you assigned to the 'use doors/signs' key though, so it'd be that. (I suppose I should specify this on the Configure Keys screen...)

I was wondering the same thing about the trophy, Im guessing theres a way around.. or you can actually make that jump.

Nice work on the game, Pseudolonewolf. If I had any Kreds I'd donate. But either way, great game, I look forward to Mardek 3 :D

Pretty good so far, I'm having trouble with the spikes and moving platforms on 1-16. Looking forward to playing some more after work.

Well, my PC isn't that ancient. For some reason despite I can play exe games for as long as I want without any problem (even those with quite advanced 3d graphics [at least which was advanced 3 - 4 years ago]), flash games begin to lag after a while after playing. Adjusting quality helps, changing browsers don't (actually on IE it's even worse... I should try Opera later). Well, at least thx for answer. And again I congratulate you for creating such a great game - even though I can't enjoy it for very long.

Efreeti, there are many people here who have completed this game, so it's certainly not impossible. When I first played it myself after/while making it, I was poor at it to, but the more I played it, the more my skill increased and now I can basically breeze through the level and beat the boss without getting hit. It IS a matter of skill, and to call the game itself flawed because you can't win without having to really try is rather arrogant and self-righteous. "I'm not at fault for failing, THE GAME IS. After all, how could *I* be at fault?!"
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Efreeti, the game is supposed to be difficult as a tribute to the old-style games of the 80s and 90s. For people who have never played a game like Kid Icarus or Megaman, this game will seem impossible. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it isn't poorly made either. I really don't see why people are having trouble with the controls, honestly. In many old school Nintendo games "up" was used to climb ladders and was hardly ever used as a jump button.

Pseudolonewolf, you really have managed to craft the perfect excuse have you not? "Oh no, it can't be hard because it's poorly made, it MUST be that you don't have the skill that it takes". Sod off with that attitude.

now that the boss is not nearly as hard on easy mode as it is in other modes, it is hard for people who haven't killed the boss yet to practice against him. Earlier, that was the easiest way. This is just a wild idea, but maybe you should add a 'boss mode', which would be unlocked after your first meeting with the boss where you could practice? Then again, that might take some of the challenge away from the game...

If this game lags for you, either you have a REALLY ancient computer (probably made of stone or something), or there's a browser-related problem, perhaps. Try another browser, but if that doesn't work, then I really am sorry, but it seems that you should take it as a hint that your computer may be in need of replacing. It takes a while to add new features, and I can't add configuration settings for minorities such as people with obsolete hardware, people who are blind, people who have postage-stamp-sized monochrome monitors, etc... o_O
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
haha! I can't! At least, not unless it's on easy. But I do really like this game, anyway. I'll try again on medium later.

nice one, i like the oldskool graphics and the music is fine too. finally a game i don't have to mute.:d
i hope now that it's done, you'll have more time to focus on mardek 3 though, the 2nd part is the best game on kongregate.

I appretiate this game a lot, but it have a small issue that makes impossible for me to take full pleasure from it. It's the fact that this marvellous games is being laggy at later episodes and I quit frustrated. Pseudolonewolf, I appeciate greatly fact that it is possible to adjust quality so easily, but is it possible to make background possible to turn off? I think that's the thing which might be causing this issue, beacuse game lags when I try to change place of character.

Mario, please read the instructions. Natter91, no, there's no saving, but it's not really necessary since you can finish the whole thing in less than ten minutes.
oak11oak, are you using IE8? I think that browser might interfere with games like this for no good reason...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Is there a save function? There doesn't seem to be. I don't think old-school games had one, but that's one feature of the past I think is best left behind...

I wonder... Should I perhaps make the boss considerably easier on Easy mode by making its projectiles not run along the walls and floor?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fabulous. And the boss, well, its hard, but after some practice you'll catch the strategy. Just be patient! In my opinion deserves more rating but maybe its too challenging for some players; anyway great concept, music
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The original Raider is much better than this (albeit being poorly coded and a few glitches)...I wonder what it would be like if Pseudolonewolf took the time to finish it and put it up on Kongregate? Oh well. This game is great anyway.
