totally crappy game plus it's an obvious ripoff of the Tecmo-game Shadow Warriors made for the first gameboy. two stars from me

If you are dying too much, that is what the DIFFICULTY option is for. If you can't cope with the harder difficulties, then why didn't you decide to play on Easy mode? You never have to restart from the beginning on that setting.
I've never had any problems climbing on ladders using Up, and I've jumped on them in all kinds of ways, so that must be a lack of skill rather than a bug, probably (unless loads of other people report it too).

oh and i forgot to mention the whole purple green checkpoint thing is really quite stupid. i never even found the first one and i've been playing for a half an hour...then die and restart fk that

you would have gotten a 5/5 from me for making me reminisce but after those damned ghosts, jumping, and when i press up the ladder doesn't always climb, i knocked you down to a 3/5 sorry liked the game but don't think i'll love it.

I'm currently working on a Key Configuration thing, for all of those who are unsatisfied with the current control scheme (grumble)...

Is it normal that jumps height are not consistent. It seems that when I hit another control at the same time, it sometimes go higher. But not all the time, wich is a bit frustrating and confusing.

Is there anyway to change the controls, because I can't get used to having to use ''a'' to jump. All of the movement is in ''arrow keys'' so why is the ''jump'' not? So Pseudolonewolf can you please add a short customizable control options menu, please!

Don't dismiss this game due to controls, the control scheme is perfectly normal on English, German and Spanish Keyboards. French may have trouble though, but that is through no fault of Pseudolonewolf. If you rate low due to difficultly then you are a sad, sad person. The game is NOT hard.

Amazing game, i love it! Ive always been a fan of games like this, but this is like the icing on the cake of games....

The ladders are annoying somehow, I would second that... double-jump would be neat, but it would have made things too easy maybe. Interesting, but quite tough game.

seems like this game should be on neopets cuz of graphics and minimum graphics.2/5 for easy to kill enemies but is rather frustrating.

Once you get used to the jumping control, this game is one of the best you'll ever play, if you're not opposed to Platforms.
Truly one of the best games around.

oh well, as for the control scheme:
i guess it's just not intuitive to have jump somewhere else when using a keyboard. You hold a gamepad differently from how you use a keyboard. So it doesn't really feel "retro" to have jump somewhere else.
besides that, you changed things around...here i have to steer with my right hand while triggering actions with my left, which is the exact OPPOSITE of gamepad-ness...it would be easier to swallow with asdw movement and jkl action keys. besides that, i think it's quite fine. jumping felt a little weird at first, and the fact you FALL through ladders(even if around there was solid floor) instead of needing to press down was a bit unnerving, as well.

About time Pseudo, well done on it anyhow, 5/5, I see no problems with the controls myself... I don't see why anyone else has...

Simple, really really hard and a bit clunky controls...
The fact that sometimes you dont respawn on the same screen as you died makes me... well dislike the game.
Ghosts that can't be killed and knock you off ladders with spikes underneath? No fun... and especially so when you respawn just before it all <.<

hm, fun, for a while. I'd love to have some "fancyness" though..this kind of "lonely space guy on a wrecked sort of place looking for something" was born in the 80's with Metroid...and that HAD plenty of permanent upgrades.
Aside from that: Some things are not "hard" but "unfair"...like near the beginning, there is two pits...one leads to treasure, one is certain death...but no way to find out which is which. Or the fact many spike pits do NOT allow you to jump out(meaning they are as lethal on easy as they are on hard). Still, i found it quite enjoyable, but i'll quit at the first boss, i almost got it 2 or 3 times now, and i believe it's quite doable with a static pattern, i am just not always quick enough to dodge :P oh well, looking forward to next episodes... oh well, and "Z" is not always down there, allow "Y" as an alternative, please.

Why are people complaining so much about the controls? Don't you take a few moments to get used to the controls in basically every game that you play, or do you just dismiss them in a few seconds if you're not familiar with them before you begin?
I was trying to give the feeling of an old-style console joypad with the control scheme. No console platformer I've ever played has used Up for jumping, and whenever I see that in Flash games I hate it because it seems so very 'amateur' or something. A, S and D are part of the WASD usually used by most games, but since the arrows are used for movement here, I used that as the 'other side of the controller' for all actions.
I though that ASD was a common control scheme for games - I've read that before, anyway - so it is surprising that people are so bothered.
