Flameinpain - that isn't a mistake, it is stalemate. Stalemate is where your opponent isn't checked, but they also can't move because moving would put him into check. In order to have checkmate they must be checked and unable to move out.

So i have a king and a rook left, and they have a king. I put him in the top right, where my rook is the second from top row at the left. I move my king 2 spaces away from the top right at the top row, and it is his turn now. Instead of it saying checkmate, it says stalemate, which doesn't make sense. He is in checkmate instead!

Correct tacticalrogue, and just to make sure everyone knows the rule, it is that none of the squares the king moves across can be attacked. In terms of a castle kingside that's the two spaces to the right of the king, castling queenside it's the two squares to the left. Regards

standard chess rule: you can't castle to get out of check. You can't castle through check. You can't castle if you have moved the king. You CAN castle if you previously were in check and blocked it or took the piece (not with the king)

You failed in a rule...the rook MAY OR MAY NOT be in danger in order to castle, keep this rated high so people learning the game aren't lead to believe this false statement and so the creater may change it!!!
aside from noobish pawn moves, it was ok...the computer player was much more based to let people win who play casually. well done.

4/5. The engine is awful, but ir reminds me Battle chess in Commodore Amiga 500. Loved it. It has also En Passant, other "stronger" games here in Kongregate dont have it. By the way, are those vocal samples taken from the old games of Warcraft series?
