Under rating threshold (show) Another issue with the new auto-explore going to items, is that it will step on known traps if an item is there. This can be very bad.

Under rating threshold (show) Is auto-exploring to items that have already been stepped on/checked manually before. This is making auto-explore annoying.

Developer response from RatzNGodz

Items that have been on the loot menu should be marked as explored. I'll double check that

Under rating threshold (show) I finally did it, a perfect game! I still say that the game is unbalanced. I don't think beating the game is possible without some specific skills and stats. Most notably is mesmerize and confuse. Those two are an absolute must have. Building your character to avoid any and all damage is the key. High resistance is very helpful towards the end. I started with Priest then Necro (the Life Drain was a huge help, but you have to increase Transmute enough to hit consistently with it), then leveled Oracle for the skills, then finally took multiple classes to level 3 and pumped up my resistance to avoid casters in the end.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

Congratulations! And Priest is not the easiest start (or at least for me :) )

reddd99

Aug. 23, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Looks like drain life ignores resistances and armor for damage reduction, which using mental resistance(seems by far hardest stat to raise) as something to roll against, where can I get this power? :D

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

it uses physical resistance. You can have one by playing necromancer :)

Under rating threshold (show) Amazing and deep system, but very wonky. The good: - Character creation has decent options - Leveling system feels so open, yesss - Many skills and stats to upgrade at our leisure - Class switching and leveling is great The bad: - Hotkeys are unintuitive, why not use qwerasdf? Or allow binding keys - Item pickup/switching/comparing feels bad - Text is super small - If there's a difficulty after normal, it should be available from the beginning

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

key binding is available with the in-game menu. If the test are still too small, you can play in cinematic mode and/or change the UI scale in the settings (Bigger text start to take too much place in the interface and size depend of your dpi). There is no difficulty beyond normal.

Under rating threshold (show) Huh, bracers[+1][Acc] doesnt improve hit bonus on spells at all, shouldnt it have the same effect on magic as on other attacks?

Spell are boosted by affinities and physical attack by the stuff. Spells would be over powered if they take both bonus

Aug. 22, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) I had resistance of 6[10] and was getting life drained by a vamp in a sixth level dungeon for 60+ Hitpoints. Granted my resist was not that good (my other defenses got more focus that time and were really good), but that much is just ridiculous. I was also having trouble hitting monsters with my bow, even though I had taken the Ranger route which required me to have high Dex and ranged combat, which I supplemented with a high Bow stat. More ridiculousness of the monsters having insane dodge. I think the reason why more people are not complaining, is because they just go through all the dungeons, without any care for the dying children, and then once they beat the game once, they don't replay.

Aug. 22, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) I believe I've figured out why the end game is so unfair and unbalanced. By the time you reach the second to last dungeon, and then the last dungeon, you are required to be strong in too many different aspects, and there just isn't enough experience given before you reach that point for you to be in that good of shape. Getting lucky enough to find uber gear that offsets the aspects you built is a must. Spreading out the experience you get before the end is certain death. You must focus on only some, and get lucky for the rest. When an rpg game is only beatable with very specific stat conditions, and much luck, it is unbalanced and unfair. A small percentage of elite (for whatever reason) players does not excuse this.

Under rating threshold (show) I was wrong about the numbers above when they take damage and healing. I honestly don't know what I was thinking when I made that comment. I think it's because I don't pay much attention to it because it's so small. I am sure about there not being a green number for the regen of the troll though, because when I fought my first troll it took me a long time and I was first attentive to the troll. I would have noticed it healing if it was showing.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

Maybe, I'll check. But troll only regen up to 50% of life, like player regen, so they do not regen during the start of the fight.

Under rating threshold (show) @ShadowOfHollow When the game says "Cannot move to target" it is being used for all instances of not being able to attack a target with the currently selected attack, including the problem of simply standing in the wrong place. This should be changed to accurately say what the problem may be. Just know that it could mean that you're standing too close, too far, at the wrong angle, or it could mean that the skill/spell cannot be used on that monster. Another thing that I think should be changed is that if you're attempting to use a skill/spell that will not work where you are sanding, the game will try to move you to where you can use that skill/spell. This is probably what you're experiencing. I don't think the game shuld be moving you on its own like that.

Under rating threshold (show) @Ratzngodz "Question: 3 days ago, would you have guess you can "kicking ass" in a day 6 dungeon?" -- Actually, Yes, I would have been, if I had gotten lucky enough, because I have not change anything in how I was playing 3 days ago. I did not learn any tricks, or tactics, or new class routes that I was unaware of there being. I simply got lucky enough to make it that far with good gear and potions, with little-to-no crowding. But as soon as I entered that last dungeon it was all for not because the difficulty was INSANE compared to the previous dungeon.

Under rating threshold (show) @Ratzngodz "There should be green number over its head." There was nothing of the sort. Can I take this to mean that there should also be a number above a monster's head (possibly red) for taking damage? Because I've never seen that either.

Aug. 18, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) This is my first time at the last dungeon, and I'm sorry but I have to go back to saying that this game is extremely unfair. The difficulty increase for the last dungeon is just stupid. I went from kicking ass in the last dungeon, to having no chance in hell of ever beating the game with what I have. And the crowding issue is 10x worse in the last dungeon. With a crowd around every corner, filled with energy leeches, magic casters, and heavily armor behemoths, it's retarded. I've tried now 4 times, and every time is the same totally unfair situation. =/

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

Question: 3 days ago, would you have guess you can "kicking ass" in a day 6 dungeon? I really hope (if you stick with the game a little more) that you can go to last dungeon without dying on a regular basis, and have a perfect victory fairly often. I aim for winning streaks of about 3 to 5 plays for best players.

Jiberish001

Aug. 18, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) I swear I am the most unluckiest person to have ever played this game. Or the game hates me. I finally get to the last dungeon without dying, and it starts off in a 2x2 room with a door. I open the door and get attacked by a naga. I use ranger run to get some distance, and now I'm surrounded by 9!! monsters. =/

As a warrior, do not hesitate to switch weapons on your first good loot (weapons skills aren't wasted as a warrior, you got a skill for that). And raise a little ranged weapons (about 2 in bow and ranged weapons cost nearly nothing and help a lot killing things). You may want to test mage or rogue, I think it is a little easier to start with

Under rating threshold (show) I love a good roguelike, and I think this is game deserves more attention! The UI was a little difficult to understand at first; it's a lot of information to absorb at once. Beyond the initial confusion, it's a great game! Now, like an idiot, I have to ask: How do I spend Arcane Points? I don't see a menu that lets me increase my affinities...

Under rating threshold (show) Less common you say? This is what I'm talking about... I entered a dungeon (4th or 5th I think) and as I'm standing on the stair, having not taken a single step yet, I see around me 6 monsters of varying types. So I drink a mana surge potion, and out pops a 7th monster as they start drawing near. So I go about casting and shooting and drinking. When all is done I'm left with no potions left and my health almost completely gone. I try making a dash to some hearts, and out pops 2 more monsters, and I have not taken more than five steps away from the stairs yet. I had some really good gear that time too. Including a gold javelin and good armor. .... I died. =/

Under rating threshold (show) So, I got water affinity to 5, and it doesn't appear to be affecting the damage or hit bonuses of the water-based magic spells, :/ Should I have been investing in the magic stat and evocation instead? Also, how can I increase the hit bonuses of minions/summons so they don't keep missing?

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

Affinities raise mainly damage, but also hit bonus for some spells. Evocation is the primary way to raise hit bonus, Magic raise a little of both.

Under rating threshold (show) Auto-explore should not cause a player to step on a known trap if it is the only possible path. If such a situation comes up, then the player should just stop. I was auto-exploring with a familiar and was forced to step on a known trap because the familiar was in my way. If auto-explore would have just stopped, I could have avoided taking damage.

+ - !

Developer response from RatzNGodz

auto explore should allow you to go through summons anyway. I'll see after adding that if stopping on traps is necessary (It used to do it, but I was quite strange on some levels)

Jiberish001

Aug. 17, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) You probably shouldn't say things like "should be" in your patch notes. It will make people like me think that maybe you didn't test that particular patch enough, or at all. ;) This is in regards to the monster crowding, of which I am still experiencing. And just so you know (because we may have different opinions about what is too much), I'm talking about crowds of commonly 5, and rarely 6 or 7. I don't mind common crowds if they are weak-moderate monsters, but a crowd of 5+ strong monsters is too much IMO.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

It is still random, it is not impossible, but should be less common. Potions are there for the crowds :)

Jiberish001

Aug. 17, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Is it really necessary for the potion button to sparkle when we pick up a new potion? I'm pretty sure that most people are aware that they just picked up a potion. Under rating threshold (show) Some adjustments that would help make this game more user-friendly: Abilities, spells, classes etc. that you've unlocked remain visible with their prerequisite stats on subsequent play-throughs for easier planning, Holy requirement for paladin should count bonus from starting as human for unlocking (probably should count priest bonus too) as 1000+ xp is a little steep just to unlock a class. Explanation as to how stats work exactly. What does a hit of 5 mean? is that 5 out of 10, 20, 50? If you're going to make the game "difficult" then give players the tools they need to properly plan their strategy. Also, please get rid of or change how abilities can take the place of plain attack because it's difficult to tell when it's been accidentally activated until it's too late. Getting rid of auto-xp/leveling as the default would be nice too, but not critical.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

unlocking knowledge if definitely on my todo list. For hit values, you can use the "full combat log" in the settings to get more information (there is also a flag for default auto-xp). Efficiency depends of the defense/resistance of the target. I am not perfectly happy with how paladin works, but I do not want race begin too important for which class is available

Under rating threshold (show) Great rogue-like, i really like playing it, but one thing i noticed was the difference in range lengths of different weapons. I've only played 1-2 play throughs so far, but from the items ive gotten, range wise, bow (any type) > crossbow > spear/non-knife throwing wep > throwing knife. This may not be totally 100% accurate, and may not even include all the ranged weps, but I always go with the bow since, even though it may do less damage, i can get an extra hit or three in before the other range weps would even att them.

Under rating threshold (show) @ravewarheit I have tried many different combinations. Some of them do really well, as you alluded to, but my complaints all stem from the extreme reliance on luck that the game has. Even when using a combination that works really well, one can easily die whenever the game randomly decides that you've lived long enough. :) @nclp One could just as easily complain about the original rouge game too. Just because this game (being a "rougelike" game) stays true to that title by being so random, does not then invalidate one's complaint about said randomness. It's a poor design in the original, and a poor design in this game. (IMO)

Aug. 16, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Addendum to previous comment: Same applies for hit bonuses on spells, for higher levels, (above 10, again) you can either hit a target with magic missile, and hit 5-10 damage with enemy armor deflecting/absorbing 70+% of the impact, or miss with the spells that ignore armor.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from RatzNGodz

But magic benefit highly from magic affinities, where as melee/ranged don't (unless specific powers). To keep efficiency with spells at high level, you must continue to raise affinities. Also, monsters have specific weakness that you can more easily target with magic

reddd99

Aug. 16, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) I have to say, I noticed that the melee and ranged attacks scale up in higher levels far better than magic attacks do. mainly because the magic attacks dont get bonuses from weapons that can be replaced/improved upon like how you can get a +4 dagger or a +5 composite bow. (magic attacks begin to lose most any real effectiveness around level 10ish as enemy armor/absorption outpaces the rate at which your magic related skills can improve)
