"Sir, they keep shooting down our planes. What should we do?" "Surrender! Everyone surrender!!" "Sir, couldn't we just stop bombing them?" "No, we have to surrender!!" "LAST TIME I CHECKED, WE'RE GERMAN, NOT FRENCH."

Daaaaamn. 1 Spitfire against 4 fighters and 8 bombers and not only did he survive, he shot them all down! I think I have an ace on my hands!

Churchill: So, any news about the air raids?
Spy:*ahem* well, uhh, I know there will be Germans, and Probably, probably planes, oh, uhhh watch out cause they may have bombs.
Churchill:Where will they hit us?
Spy:...
Churchill:Really? I pay you for this?
(turns around, pulls out gun)
Spy(fast forward 50 years): And that, children is how we won the war.

@sukoi during the blitz the RAF had to let Coventry be bombed to pieces without doing anything about it, as they only knew about the impending attack because they had cracked the enigma code and protecting it would have given away the element of suprise.

I felt like I was playing a survival horror game...Crap...Which city do I let them bomb so I can protect the other city...

Here's a tip, play Warfare 1944 after you are done with this one. It will feel like you're taking down the nazies you just owned in arial combat.

13. After you take 250 German planes, Put all of your Recruiters into Gathering and Working to load up on planes for the final push. Then put gatherers into building and pilots. This is to have massive numbers to match German massive numbers and put you over 300 faster.
These things get me to 300 in about 33 - 35 turns. But I got 32 turns only once. Can't figure how one gets less than that.

(Continued)
10. Better to send more planes at one wave and let one city get hit, than to send low numbers at all waves and lose all your planes.
11. Ratios:
Less than 8 planes: Send equal amount plus 1 or 2.
8-12 planes: send equal amount.
13 or more: send 2 - 5 less than incoming, as they will all likely be wiped out.
12. Set up Gatherers and Workers to supply 8 planes per round. Build up more metal than you build. Make more planes than you use, but not too many at one time. This is so you can suddenly divert gatherers to builders and build massive amounts of planes if (a) you lose massive amounts of planes in a round, or (b) you get hit by illness and build no planes. If a then b happen in quick succession, consider starting a new game.

Tips for beginners:
1. At the start, put all 4 planes in the South East and all 10 recruits into Recruiters.
2. Max out Recruiters asap.
3. Build Hurricanes at first, but don't build more than 10 before you switch all building to Spitfires.
4. Protect the South East at all costs! That is your base of intelligence gathering, and if it is hit, your intelligence suffers greatly. Rebuild asap!
5. Builders rebuild at about 6%+. More builders in one city increase the rate slightly. But they can die in bombing raids.
6. Don't use firemen. Waste of manpower.
7. You can let cities go unrepaired a little while, but don't lose any. Repair in big chunks at one time to make efficient use of builders.
8. Important: Let the first few rounds go, except to protect the South East, and build airplanes, then train pilots. You need large numbers of pilots and planes to win.
9. After you start fighting for real, build up your spies to target incoming more efficiently.

Anyone know how to get more good news out of this game than bad? Like, more POW's rescued that illness in the plane factories?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Actually Hurricanes cost more metal to produce, take for example 10 workers in Spitfire production need only 2500 kg of metal, while 10 workers in Hurricane production need 5000 kg of metal. Of cource Hurricane production is 2x more than Spitfire production in a 1:1 worker ratio.
So in the early game concentrate on Hurricane production, then when you hit about 20 workers or you can't produce enough hurricanes off of the metal production start phasing out Hurricane workers, and start producing more Spitfires. By the end game, stop Hurricane production.
Hope that helps :3.

1) Max our your recruiters ASAP
2) Keep about a 3:4 ratio of gatherers to builders
3) Build lots of Spitfires
4) Concentrate your forces in a single city area each time

also Britain wasnt this badass during WW2 the RAF couldnt do much they we're sleep deprived and everything so add that to the RAFs disadvantages against Germans who had more numbers

they actually made a ranking system for Jet/Fighter Pilots if you get up to 8 kills in each dogfight you are ranked an Ace, the Red Baron is the worlds bestest pilot having around 75-80*forgot* CONFIRMED kills

Well, I want you all to atleast know, that the Messerschmitt, also known as bf 109 and me 109 was actually BETTER than the spitfire in terms of speed and firepower, but the spitfire is better in terms of manouverability and armor. In this game, however, the spit and the bf 109 are equal, and thus they can shoot eachother down in normal conditions. I also noticed, that the Ju 87 ,,Stuka'' is a MUCH better dogfighter than it's comrades JU 88A, Heinkel 111 and Dornier 17, but the stuka still is not as good as the traditional Bf 109. If you see some messerschmitts and stuka's togheter, send more planes, or you will get massacred. Hope this helps :)

Has anyone actually gotten the "finest hour" medal yet? I've played likely over 500 games and have never had a wave of over 20 bombers ever show up. If anyone happens to know how to set the conditions up please share

Okay so over 100 wins in a row using the methods I posted. A few close ones, but no more than 4. Please plus these two so frustrated folks can occasionally win some
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Actually there is a secret to winning about 100% of the time. First, overbuild spitfires, overstock metal. Second, do not try and defend everything all the time. Rebuild. Don't use fire chiefs. By picking and choosing your fights, you can stock up on man power.
Between here and armor games (played on both, just in case there was a difference) I have ended 15/15 with about 100 spare spits, usually 50-70 pilots, and 100% cities. You have to play around with it a little, and it does increase the time of the game. Oh and get your spies up, picking and choosing what gets through and what you stop is part of the strategy.
Plus this so frustrated players can win a few please

I placed one spitfire in the East Coast and it knocked down around 4 enemy bombers (spread between two waves) before I added 3 more spitfires. Those 3 were shot down the next wave, without killing anything. That one spitfire killed 4 more bombers in that same wave. I think I have a god on my side.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I just wish the firemen were more efficient in preventing fires. That and a more interactive combat system. Really now, 1 fireman = 1 damage prevented? Might as well spam builders. And what is the logic of having veteran pilots on spitfires all being shot down, but with all the noobs in hurricanes somehow surviving?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There should be indicators on the Summary screen for when you haven't allocated workers to planes in the factory or other units to cities.

Though Matador was a little... loud... in his complaint, i really have to agree. I sent a Spitfire and a Hurricane into battle with two Heinkel bombers, and lost the Spitfire. I seriously doubt that the two massive, sluggish, and lightly armed bombers could have shot down either of those planes. I think that the combat generator could be changed, and better consider that Spitfires were excellent fighters, and many of the British pilots at the start of the fight were skilled aces.
