I hope this game becomes longer in the future! I found Magic to be very underused in the final boss though... Nitpicks aside, really nice game!

Is there any chance of a second game? I like it but this was a little short :P
Took me about 30 minutes including my 3 deaths (bc I'm reckless)

I agree with most of the advice others have given. My playthrough had more magic monster spawn rates so I had to wander/grind a lot to find strength monsters to attach to increase my strength, which is what I needed to beat the final form. I had beaten all the monsters easily so by the time I got to the final boss, I didn't realize I was underpowered until making a connection between the number stat given with the monster name, then wandering/grinding more to get my strength stat up.

Love it! It's so nice and simple with this old-fashioned sound, it really brings back memories :) The only fault: It's too short, took me less than five minutes to beat up the villain... 4/5 & keep up the good work.

simple and staight forward - only issue I had was trying to find enough STR guys to kill to level up before the last fight. Took about 5-10 minutes. Fun game.

My best suggestion for your next game? Let the player choose between Weapon Attack, Magic Attack, or Flee in battle (sorta like the Princess Maker games and their close relatives), with the stats gaining experience for each use after battle. So if you just used Magic Attack your Magic stat gets all of the experience, allowing it to level faster. Or you could go with a mixed experience system, where some of what is gained is based on the attack the player used and some is based on the attack the enemy used (since you're using the same stat for both offense and defense). That way if the player comes across a boss that is hard to defeat (because of an extremely high Strength stat when mostly encountering Magic using enemies) they can train the appropriate stat to defeat them without needing to rely as much on luck when training.

For what it is it's a great game. There's only one problem I see with it, and it's more of an annoyance than a true problem. You don't have a pair of 'dedicated training areas' (or maybe colosseums) each focused towards a specific stat to aid in training for the final boss. With how low of relative stats are needed it isn't a true flaw, but by the time I had a 26 Magic to defeat him I had a 28 Strength. Yeah, I went through his first form with ease, but you can do that with a 20 or 21 Strength as well, the extra 10 minutes to encounter enough Magic enemies to get my Magic trained up to a 26 so I could beat his second form (I didn't make it with a 25 Magic) was somewhat annoying in a short game, I don't expect them to have a 'required' power leveling stretch just before the final boss.

Okay, there's a lot of games out there, many of which I like. And even among them, most of them have at least one mechanic that I find absolutely painful to deal with. But this game? I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Wow. I am suprised how engaging and fun this game is. I'll recommend adding keyboard controls and keyboard shortcuts to buttons, especially for fight and run. Please keep making games like this.

Unpretentious and fun, not too much farming and ended before it got tired. well done. 5/5 love to see what you do next.

This game is surprisingly amazing. It's incredibly simple, but so smooth even the grinding's a pleasure. 5/5 and I can't wait to see more games.

@TheLowerRight, I play on a trackpad and I didn't encounter any problems. Even so, you can click via the button, this game's too good not to finish.

I'm just saying: It's not a great sign that I've literally programmed better RPGs on my old TI-83 calculator over a decade ago back in High School. Mine had two main characters, the first of which could cast four different spells and the second of which could steal healing potions from the enemy. The final boss had four different kinds of attack as well.

When moving along the bottom of the map, I keep accidentally hitting run or fight. The textbox pops up too fast and closes before I even know its open.

One of the few games that got me so interested from the start that I couldn't help but finish it in a while. Great work!

Fine if intended as a sort of "Hello World" RPG, but not as an actual game. This is far too minimalistic to be enjoyable.

Would be cool to know how battles work.
I mean for example:
if an enemy attacks me with strength 4 and I have magic 6 and strength 6, how is the winner decided?

Hey. Well done on creating a simple yet very enjoyable game. I hope you are inspired by all the great feedback to keep going with game dev. I thought the game was great and gave it a 5 for it being what it is. There is one functional thing which I would like see changed. In the final part of the game the fight screen will pop-up right under where you are clicking, more often than not making you accidentally click Run away.

If you wander through the dark forest you can find a pair of shoes which makes running easier. And if you grind in the average plains, you can find a ring that increases your lives to 6.

Negative side of holding mouse button to move, is that when you are close to flying castle and random encounter happens, most often mouse already pointed at run away button. And because i'm holding it, it counts as trying to run away automatically.

You win more experience the harder the enemy is. I'd suggest farming in the plain plains until level 10 and then grind for a couple more levels to be fine for the mine. If you follow this pattern you'll have no problem.

I must say I really liked this game not overdone nor riddled with IAP's, energy bars or any such anti-gaming concepts. The music also touched a string but I couldn't work out from what until it dawned on me Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System, loved it it :)
As for the person who said don't make a clone, don't listen to him use this game as a starting point. I'd love to see this little gem made into a full blown game with a few character systems/skills etc.
Very well done, looking forward to the next one.
