Best thing to do is upgrade pistol twice, air filter and health. Second pistol upgrade is damage. This will save you money because you'll use less ammo, need to buy less air filters and can hold off on eating.
After that you can buy and/upgrade some of the other weapons - recommend flame-thrower upgraded for boss.

mmm what's wrong with the people how create badges to games? This game is incredible, it needs badges, 4 badges could be great

Recommendation for upgrades: One level in gasmask (I maxed, but I'm unsure if that pays back if you're fast enough), then max gun, shotgun, and flamer, in that order. Health is unncessary, but feel free if you have trouble. The flamer is only really useful in the last fight, but there it wins. Just stand in the middle, aim up, shoot. About the controls, using up for jumping doesn't really work well with the ability to aim up. But a free choice in what key does what would improve the game a lot, as I would reverse A and S if I played on keyboard (I use a controller I can assign whatever to anyway). Something else I'd want to see is that you can go back to the shop after starting a level if you die. Otherwise you can end up with crap equipment you can't do much with, like too few gasmasks.

This was a great game, very well done. I would have appreciated a mute button. Can't wait for the sequel, hope you add more upgrades, a greater RPG element would also be awesome.

This is one of the better games I've played recently. I liked the music, sfx, and graphics. The survivors do die a lot from following your movements a bit oddly, but it's not too much of an annoyance. The control scheme really needs a third option, a-left, d-right, w-jump/doublejump, maybe even left mouse click to shoot. I hated option 1, wasted so many bullets, just couldn't get used to it. The only other complaint is I wanted a melee weapon so many times. A knife, sword, pipe wrench, anything for when I ran out of ammo completely. 4/5. I'd like to see laser weapons in the next game and hand grenades, as well as different types of aliens!

The grafitti on chapter 5 or 6 I think? The writing is moving the "Don't trust the Man" thing. Is moving, the triangle in the middle of M and n in "Man". Has an eye that blinks.. why?

i found a bug where if you are in a shelter and you jump there is a single frame where you have your gas mask back on

after a while u start to get the hang of the controls and it makes it kinda neat that way, and btw dont just use the pistol like i did cuz u will run out of ammo on the boss fight... and u cant hurt it without bullets

it's annoying the way the aliens always explode when killed-the explosion can hurt you and the survivors-i lost 2 survivors in one level that way!
but i like the "darth vader" sound effect when you switch filters...

it sort of makes sence to use a key other than UP to jump, since the arrow keys are also used to aim the guns. imagine trying to shoot at an alien above and jumping into him instead...

there have been a lot of complaints about the controls that I do not understand. I had no problem pushing s to jump. this isn't the only game with this control scheme.

I liked this game. I am very glad there was an option to change the controls because it really did help the game. Sadly the game URGENTLY needs some way to mute. It needs it so bad........ The gameplay in this game is fairly simplistic but it works out surprisingly well. The desire to get more followers, being sad when they die, throwing aliens off a cliff and looking for loot all works out well and there is just enough story to keep moving forward.

I really dug the economy in this game. The fact that food is money is both convenient since I always spend spare cash on medkits and it makes sense given the world's setting......... Pressing space to judo flip aliens over is surprisingly fun. It is entertaining to throw them off a cliff or flip them into a fire. If you are good you can flip an alien, then move across before they get up and flip them again so you can flip an alien across the map. It is also fun to flip an alien then shotgun then in the face. Sadly it is usually too easy to "sneak up" on an alien and flip them over and over until they die. The aliens are not that scary when 1 dude can kung-fu 50 aliens to death by himself.

The ally system works surprisingly well. It is great to stumble upon them and see them fighting on their own. Likewise, the fact that we lose them at the end of a level rather than keeping them actually works in the game's favor because otherwise I would obsess over keeping them alive rather then enjoying the game. But still, it would be cool if I could somehow heal them......... The last boss was kinda loose and wonky, but at least it was a fitting climax to the game. I only bought/upgraded by pistol and shotgun so I very nearly ran out of ammo........... The story is minimal, very brief and lacking any characters but it is still enough to keep me wanting to move forward and it makes sense. The fact that it is presented very quickly and can be stepped is a big plus.

People who are complaining about the control scheme stop and think if you press up to jump you wouldn't be able to aim in 8 directions which removes an entire feature of the game. Not to mention this control scheme has been used for ages with 2D shooters think classic metroid or cavestory

Most buggy game ever they have guns that can shoot from any angle and distance and can blow up cars and give the explosion extra power some how
