It's a bug - if you try to pull the lever prior to ringing the bell, AFAIK you have to restart the game.
Don't touch the lever until you are ready!

Battles not balanced. Speciafically, snow birds & last boss - either trivial or impossible depending on sequence of attacks. Cute concept, but needs a tonne of work.

Had to play through it twice due to a bug that was preventing me from being able to throw the switch in day 2 (even after ringing bell and talking to the guy again). Otherwise not bad.

you spent so much time on making a great artful game that lacks a compelling story.
Spend as much time on your animation as you do the story and it will be great in total.

snow birds. where to start. once you arrive, they are annoying, but once you level once, its instant kill most of the time with one hit, plus they like to bring in new ones. but i had a streak where they would only attack. but level 3 + constant reinfocements = invinite exp, since its 11 exp for each one at level 3. good game overall.

Never mind - pop up menu on items. However, the bell would be eaiser to find if there wasn't so much foliage obscuring the path.

A menu for what the items do would be nice.
Also, if you are going to use the mouse, wasd works much better than the arrow keys.

Amazing game!
The only thing I hate in it is the use of the mouse. You should be able to do everything with the arrow keys, space and enter. Customizable keys wouldn't be a bad idea, I'd prefer ctrl and shift instead of space and enter.
Off to chapter 2. ^^

Battles haven't been thought out well enough. The snow birds can constantly call in reinforcements. When it takes two turns to kill just one bird, with the others calling in help each turn, you can never kill them all, and run out of items and special moves to deal with it. If they were limited moves, you can target the newcomers, but infinite recalling is infinite recusion, and bad design gets docked for that.

I find the first series of fights too much of a hassle (or maybe that's because I'm playing on hard). Too much depends on whether you manage to 1-hit the monsters or not.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What are you complaining about monsters attacking too often? This game only has about 10% the rate of random encounters final fantasy etc. have...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It really wasn't all that bad of a game. But all the random re-spawns was really annoying. 2/5. That's how annoying it became.

Decent...These chapters should have been all in 1 game instead of making 3 more after this one...Add a save feature,MUTE BUTTON,item drop after creature dies,a way to walk faster or something like running and have a stanima bar to tell when to stop running,WAY to many battle encounters...Really with the snow birds making more appear for like 1000years. 2/2

Cutscene and inbattle graphics are nice. Exploring graphics look horrible, you tried to hard to make it 16-bit like the FF series...

Really, it’s a good start for this promising game’s upcoming chapters. Add a save/load feature and revamp some of the useless options like “Defense” with some other better ideas, and Max Mesiria is guaranteed to be an outstanding RPG with the storytelling elements already being so rich. 4/5 and shut the f*ck up to you all retarded teenagers below.
EDIT: Added as my favorite after completed the second chapter!
