All my friends said this game looked dumb when they first started it. So you wanna know what I did? I dragged them over to my computer and forced them to play this game. 1 week later we started to have competitions on who can beat the game with the fewest deaths. 5/5
Man, that is so cool! Thanks for letting me know that happened :D Has any of them finished with zero deaths? It is certainly possible, but its the biggest challenge of the game. xD

Try to get the Tasty potato upgrade asap. Without it you wont be able to feed the ogre faster than it gets hungry. Made a 0 death run after realising it.
I really made this game for people who like to be challenged. There is the easy way, with as many deaths as you like, buying the Legacy Upgrades, and there is the strategic way out, beating it with no deaths. I'm glad you liked it!

Welps, not impressed that I got myself trapped in the tutorial and had a potato in my hand that I wanted to sell but couldn't walk over the potatoes growing in front of the selling bin. Either these are huge potatoes or the farmer is just a lunkhead that he can only carry one. Can't walk over stones, sticks or potatoes. I'm glad some liked this game, I don't.

So I'm in the middle of my field with a potato in hand and I can't walk to sell it or give it to the ogre. Lost a round :(

im literally in the tutorial and it doesnt let me pick the tile that i need to.im up tto the "now hoe the ground to remove short grass.
the farmer will automaticlaly interact again and make tilled soil". it points to the bottom most tile under a stick and it doesnt let me touch it. i lets me till the ground around me though but thats about it.

What a fun game! I love the ending though! Didn't expect that! It took me long to figure it out when I first played this game.

good game overall. Took some different thinking to finally figure how to advance in the game past the beginning. I do wish you could continue after slaying the ogre so that you can finish buying the other upgrades if one wants without having to start all over again.

This is a good game but actually, it can refresh at any time... so i lost two run like this. It would be nice if the game autosave during runs and if we can manually save.
Hmm, the game shouldn't be refreshing by itself. Anyway, I designed it to save at the end of every run because it was possible to cheese the scores otherwise. xD Thanks for the feedback.

I adore this game, I've played it for a solid half hour now (which is a big compliment for my ability to lose intrest. haha!)
My only issue is the controls are kind of awkward with my laptop so I'm struggling to make it past the beginning. Any ideas? Thanks for an amazing game!!
Are you using a mouse? I think it will be pretty hard to succeed without a mouse... Other than that it is just WASD to walk, E for actions and 1/2 to select seeds. Thank YOU for the positive comment! :D

im making a maths formula to work out the best upgrades to use at what time in the run, hopefully it gets me up a bit!

more people need to play this its so fun! Im trying to find a way to do it faster as the speedrun best is like 800 seconds and i can only do it in 1500
Thanks! The guy that holds the fastest time, Pablodius, tried pretty hard for more than a week straight... I tracked his progress and he tried many many times... Good luck with that xD

this game is absolutely amazing. the dub for the ogre is hilarious and the ending even better. there is no game ever in existence of time with a better ending. the way the ogre trips is very satisfying and a very fun game. the descriptions for the items are funny and they are all very useful. maybe could have added an explanation for some of them and maybe some bigger map exploration part, but very good game! 1790432/5
Not that tall. The farmer is actually a retired warrior that fought a decade long war against Ogre Overlords. In his last battle he injured his legs and now he is unable to lift them enough to go over the potatoes. Nah, nevermind. That's just bad design I guess... xD

somewhere along the way, my special seed counter stopped counting seeds and started counting the packets instead (really? potato... seeds?)
That's also something I'm going to change. The seed counter only has space for two digits, so when you go over 99 you only see the first two digits, if you have 150 seeds you see 15 in the counter. At least this one is a harmless bug... :D

Good game. Maybe more interesting on the begin 'cause the final part of it is a little monotone. After some deaths you don't even need to die anymore to go from 3 or 4 legacy upgrade to the max number.
5/5 anyway
I agree it gets tedious towards the end. I wanted to change that, lower the price of the ogre slayer, but I ended up not doing it because it would be unfair to the people already leading the high scores. Thank you for the 5/5! :D

My guy is stuck between the door and the garden with a potato in his hands, but I can't sell it bcuz when I right-click, he enters the shop. LoLoLoL

I just want to say that if you do make an idle-game I will still play it because I now see you as one of my favorite developers on Kongregate.
That's good to know xD. I'm already developing an idle game, but it will be different from the vast majority of idle games in and outside of Kongregate. It has a story and an ending. I plan to make it something like 5 - 12 hours long, depending on how active the player decides to be, and all content will be unlockable within game, no Kreds involved. The active part of the gameplay is also something completely different, I'm pretty sure there's nothing like it out there, at least for an idle/clicker. I hope it also meets your expectations of a good game, so that I can keep on being a favorite of yours xD. Thanks man, I really appreciate it.

It's funny how good the quality of the game is. I love the production rate. I found this game because I was telling my friend that Kongregate is just full of idles and low-quality games. Then, I saw a stupidly funny game title that looked promising. This game really lived up to my standards and I really want you to make more games. I can tell you will make better games in the future. My hope in Kongregate has been restored. Thank You!
You know, the financial return for someone that is starting on game development is almost always nowhere near the amount a person needs to survive. We need to really love it to be able to keep going, but even this passion can wear off sometimes. That's why comments like yours are so important, they feed the desire to keep on developing and making the best content possible. Thank YOU!

I don't like games that combine keyboard and mouse with action (either or, not both at once), it's just too fiddly for a left hander but it looks like a great game nonetheless
You're not the only one. There have been around a dozen people reporting this or a similar issue. It is a very small number compared to the 28k+ plays the game had until now, so it is being pretty damn hard to isolate the cause. I'm sorry for that... =/

What a great game! Really enjoyed the simple strategy. Any chance of making a bigger game? More farms/crops/family of ogres?
I really enjoyed the difficulty at the beginning - however the final grind was a little less rewarding. Ending was awesome. Totally deserves the 5/5
I agree it becomes grindy in the end, but it was too late to change it when it came to my mind. Many people had already made big effort to be in the leader board... I do have plans to make a sequel, and I want it to have more depth and be bigger overall. Maybe I'll even make a full standalone game and sell it on Steam after that. xD Thank you for your comment and for 5/5!

This is a simple but amazing and funny game! Surprisingly it's better than most of the professional games made by actual companies! Legendary work 6/5.
It's good to know that my brain cells didn't die in vain while I was writing those descriptions... xD
Thanks man! I'll do my best to make the sequel even better!

if every square on your farm is tilled or filled and you buy a sprinkler, you won't be able to put it down anywhere. You're forced to watch your hard work begging to be harvested wilt away until you die a brutal death.
Yeah I'm aware of that... =/ I already have a solution, but it's not just some tweaking, it requires further implementation. I haven't had the opportunity to implement it yet... Sorry about that.

Seriously, though. Fun, clever, tense, rewarding, funny ending, the character animations are fluid, it controls well. This is a fantastic game, and I look forward to whatever your next project is!
I'm gonna be honest, I don't intend to do this for this game. However, there will probably be a sequel to Gimme Potato, and for this one I do intend to implement this suggestion. Thanks!

Like the game, super difficult, but I like it. I haven't got to the ending yet, but why am I growing potatoes in his swamp anyway? Maybe I should switch to onions, those have more layers.
Hmm. When I was developing it, in my mind the ogre was always an invader of the farm, and not the farmer an invader of the ogre's habitat. Guess you could interpret it this way, huh? And hey, maybe ogres don't like onions, so those extra layers could get rid of a big headache... xD
Hey! With the help of some players I've identified a few things that usually make this happen. Try updating your graphics card driver and your browser to their latest versions. Content blockers as browser extensions, like ublock origin can also disrupt the loading of WebGL content. Custom windows host files that block connections from Unity servers have also been reported to cause WebGL games to not load. Please let me know if any of those things helped you.
