I'm sorry, but I didn't like this game. It's not that I didn't enjoy it because of the story, just that how it was put didn't make sense for me. Why doesn't it care about that you like a girl just for her looks and popularity, and then whine that she doesn't like you because of your lack of those things? Other messages (told in the description) failed to show for me, and I just felt like it was too forced. I just saw a whiny boy doing a tantrum over a girl he thinks he deserves. I acknowledge the other meanings wanting to pop up over that but for me it didn't work... And with the name I thought of something very different (this isn't an ode to pixel days)...
I'm sorry for the harsh critique, and I know I'm gonna get downvotes, but I just wanted to state my opinion in a respectful way. Nevertheless, the music is awesome, the game itself is well polished, and the puzzles are on a good path - wish they were harder. I think the idea behind it all and the narration have to get more work.

Well, that was depressing. Kind of an anticlimax at the end where you can go be stalker-y behind the girl but there's no interaction and you can't even stomp her or get past her.

enjoyed the game a lot i liked the idea the most that you get "smaller" all the time and at least you can hold her hand in your dreams thanks for the game ;)

SPOILERS! I’m sorry, but I didn't enjoy the game. It was okay at first. I thought it was cute that Hans would go through all these just to get the girl he likes to even look at him. Then,at the middle part, when he was just a two-pixel little chap, I thought the game would be over, cause he got the girl and all.To be honest,at the time,I wasn’t happy AT ALL that I got her.She annoyed me a lot by bouncing around and NOT leaving me -I mean, Hans- alone. Then HAH!She totally ditches him and reverses ALL of his efforts to get her. Throughout the second half I kept facepalming at how dumb it is for Hans to not realize EARLIER that she just WASN’T worth it.And the puzzles did an amazing job of making me want to pull my hair out. At the very end, I wanted to slap that female dog across the face and just stomp on her head- but I couldn't. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood(don't think so though)and maybe it's just me but I was seriously frustrated with the second half of the game.I'm still frowning.

More seriously: to me, this game really doesn't seem to be about growing up. He leaves a magical freaking castle in the sky for a prison, for gods' sake. It seems more like he tries to move on, but ends up somewhere even worse than when he started. The narrator asks if he ever wanted to fly, but he doesn't fly; he just falls.

This is probably one of the best games I've played on here. It's a good story and very inspiring, keep up the great work!

i liked it, however i think the flying should have looked more like flying rather then suicide XD, other then that 5/5!

How to defeat yourself:
First move under the floating platform and wait until big Hans jumps to the right.
Then quickly jump to the top of the platform and from there to the blue light - you will get hit here, but since you can survive one hit that is okay.
Now go and pull the switch, Big Hans will move to the showerhead and be trapped.
Finally pull the switches in the order the lights flash while avoiding/killing the enemies that drop from the sky.

So this is a game that ultimately teaches self-conscious people with inferiority-complex not to stalk the people they find attractive but to commit suicide instead. Really nice morale.
