IMO the game is balanced for same reset gold per level each run, and not limited to a relationship with previous max level. Progress may even be too slow with this, and you may need a gold increase bonus to fix this imbalance.

Game as it is is broken. either make skills a lot! cheaper and leave gold only at max level.. or each new run for gold reward, but make skills more expensive.

It's a nice game but those who say it is balanced, I disagree. When you upgrade with your gold, you get better income/clicks. However, to get more you need to advance further than what you were before and not gain like you normally would. This makes the progression SO MUCH SLOWER and can take days to go up a couple levels or even 1 level if you are far. They need to either increase the bonus we get from the upgrades OR help us get gold easier. Plus yet again, we have people who had to hack the game to get on the leader board and therefore not allowing TRUE players to be on it.
