Simply put: a fun language development tool. Domo arigato Tukkun for this great asset. I remember playing this for the badge but since then I have committed myself to learning the language. What happens when anyone learns the alphabet is they associate the sound of the letter to the order, as opposed to actually recognising what letter it is. With this game prompting you to actually learn what each letter is, you have something unique. And its interactivity certainly beats flash cards. And lets face it - how many people actually stick to those things?

You definitely need to make an N5 Kanji version, I know it might be hard due to kanji having different pronunciations, but you could do something like this, If the kanji was 人 as in じん you could provide a sentence like わたしはアメリカ人です。 That way they know to type jin. Just a thought.

Nice! This remembers me of all the hours I played slime forest during studies. I ended up learning all Hiragana, Katakana and the first thousand Kanji until I finally lost interest. And now, years later, I can only remember like a dozen symbols ~.~

Hi. Can you implement a "replay" option after beating a stage on "Adventure". Sometimes, I need to play a stage again and again until I have confidence, and have to back and select the stage again. A "replay" option above/below "back" would be a great time saver.

Love this, but am so tired of re-doing my 100%'s and unlocking Katakana due to most recent saves not showing up often. (it goes back to certain levels)

If at typing defense I don't recognize the character and keep typing wrong answers, then my 'recently got trouble with' coloumns are flooded with that one or two characters. It's very frustrating, because I'd like to know more of my failed hiragana, not just those two.

@Criizzash, the characters from hiragana and katakana are phonemes/syllables. Hiragana is mostly used for grammar and particles, and some common easy to recognize words. Katakana is used for foreign words (e.g. terebi = TV) and onomatopoeia such as animal sounds. Last but not least is kanji which originates from China and is pictographic. Kanji can have multiple pronounciations, but added hiragana and context can help determine the right pronounciation.

I know double commenting is annoying. but...
I have a few suggestions for making level 40, he one I'm having difficulty with.
make a bigger pause between firing, or make the laser go up and down with arrow keys like obstacle destroy. This way it would still have the same feel. At the moment, it's so infuriating I can't get to level 41, despite knowing all the kana as soon as I see them (mostly, but when I don't, I might already be being swarmed without screwing up).
Thank you for your feedback. I'm not very satisfied with the design of Boss Battle levels myself, but I can assure you that currently they are already much better than the original design. And I'm a bit worried that adding arrow keys will make it so players have to press too many keys..

You know, it would have been better if the difficulty in boss battles was actually the kana. Now, I know you might say that I need to remember faster, but I know them when I see them, but I still fail. Yes, I also know that it was slowed down. I'm just annoyed that I can't do as well as I should, given I recognise them immediately.

I have thought the blank between STAGE 41 and STAGE B1 should be a button to replay the all cleared ending pictures, but after I spend a month and finally cleared all the 49 STAGE, there is no such thing at all.

Found a typo. Stage 24 and all other stages that include all hiragana characters say there are 102 characters, even though there are 107.

high score for the gojuan is 117 on impossible mode (for me at least) And for those that don't know, gojuan refers to the first 46 characters of hiragana.

How difficult do you think it would be to reverse the direction of gameplay? As in, the warrior is on the right and characters come at you from the left?

You know you've got a letter when you just wait for your brain to seemingly just magically know. It is the most amazing feeling when you get a character without having to think about it. :D

I second the saving troubles, it's only saved up to level 24 now, but I've been to 34 before. I haven't been able to get it to save at all anymore. Great game though, taught me to use kana perfectly. I've linked quite some people here :)
