@Vamps10 - There's only 10 characters to remember, and the answers reveal themselves when they pass the yellow line anyway...

I'm going to have to agree with several other people - the game constantly ignores keyboard inputs. And no, clicking on the game does NOT help at all.

If you are finding this hard because you don't know any Hiragana, the easy badge is quite easy. Try just visually memorizing one or two romaji/Japanese character associations before starting the level, then guess the others as you play. The game is quite forgiving. Instead of "killing you off" in early levels, you keep replaying to get higher percentages correct on your first try. Play it as a general memory puzzle game.

Don't down-vote people that say it doesn't work. I'm using Safari on a Mac and it doesn't recognise any key I press, no 'a' no 'i' and no space.

I'm not sure that I'd ever be able to memorize these all, let alone use them, but this game is a surprisingly fun way to try and learn.

Pro Tip for my fellow old people: copy the symbols from the instruction screen into PAINT or similar so you can look at them. Because if you're like me you can't remember the first 5 squiggly lines, nevermind all 10 squiggly lines at once.

I refuse to use my brain while gaming. It's full of Pokemon names, so Japanese characters won't fit. I just brute forced my way through.

It's 2020 and this game is still great! I found it not too long ago, and have since learned all Hiragana and almost half of the Katakana. I have been using lots of other apps/websites (such as Duolingo, Tinycards, Learn Japanese to Survive...) but for me this has worked much better than anything else! And it's fun.

damn level 23, 250 characteds, O_O, it's going so fast, I was at 237/250 and I had failed once, grrrr tough luck aiming for full 100%

I actually learned quite a bit through this game. This is the most effective way i used to learn japanese alphabet so far. Thanks for creating this!

Oh man, I never knew this was on Kong! Heck, you're the creator of Anti-Idle! It's nice to see such fruitful beginnings of game developers.
One thing I would like to say about this game is that you need to have very very fast fingers and mad typing skills... that I don't have, even though I already knew all my hiragana and most of my katakana before I stumbled upon this. Anyone who happens to read this: I wish you luck in your journey to Japanese mastery!

Stumbled upon this, and japanese is a language I want to learn, since I'm in a computer science major, and the two most major places to code are japan and the U.S. (especially if I want to go into game design, which I do.)

Also, in free play mode the most of my failures are 「ぢ」(di) and「づ」(du) and theirs youon, since those kana are rarely used, and reads same as 「じ」(ji) and「ず」(zu).

Anyone else types 「sya」for「しゃ」、「jya」for「じゃ」、「cya」「ちゃ」? jya and cya was invalid at u-biq if you used romanji to answer those questions but those are my typing habit. since 「きゃ」was「k+ya=kya」, so 「しゃ」was「s+ya=sya」for me.
