I'm playing this from time to time for a special reason, but I gotta say, this feels like a crazy person made it. Why?
(1) Everything is vague. The actual upgrade benefits are clear as mud.
(2) What is clear, is minute. This game operates on +1 or +1%, and EXP is a decimal. The developer himself notes in places that crits and such should not be relied upon, just appreciated. Well, so the upgrades don't have much to do with strategy. So unlike other defending games, choosing the right upgrade feels more like a vague, senseless puzzle and less like a rewarding level up kind of thing.
(3) The developer insists "armour" has a "U" in it, which is not true in the United States. Fine if you're from a place they include the U, but you should direct that criticizing energy into your own game. Specifically, why does it feel like the game is made of stingy, obscure power-ups? This is distinctly un-fun.

Humor me here.
The elements are...
Physical, Fire, Cold, Energy, Poison.
Yet in EVERY WAVE, the most COMMON STRENGTH...
Is Poison.
Why even have poison in there then? Filler strength?

I think that the player should be able to upgrade more in between each level.. The "Easy" levels don't seem to be getting any easier and I don't feel like I'm getting better people. But anyways awesome game, i've been playing it forever

If you like this try defender. It's like the prototype of the protector games. No badges but if you can beat green acres you are a god.

to nattemann, i think its because there are the awards and one says that the first unit that you put down gets +1 base damage. maybe thats it.

Now I have one problem. We've been picking all the mistakes of the game, but we didn't say a word about that it is great anyways, despite of its mistakes. A great advantage is its easiness - a lot easier than the other two, this is the only Protector game what I could have finished so far. Heroes and awards are also a great idea.

This game has a lot of balance issues. There is no way to reduce the cost of basic units except by 1gp which is ridiculous. In both Protector I and II you could reduce the cost by up to 10gp. On some maps I can't see how it's possible to win with units costing that much. When I have 73gp to start and I can only hire two units, that's ridiculous.

And, I'm not saying that the game is bad, but anither thing: I think that heroes could have a development path what we can choose for them, just as 'normal' units (they could have a reset button, too).

For those of you who may have heard Michael Jackson is Dead. Follow this link to a music video that sums up pretty much everyone's view on him.

The game is pretty good, but they need a better format for it. There is no real progression or storyline. You find yourself playing the same level over and over if you are really trying to upgrade your heroes.

my game is glitched =( i was doing so good and now the game says unidentified on every monster and i instant kill them and cant complete any mission because it shows a weired zombie monster at the end with all unidentified stats and u kill it and the game freezes so now i got to restart the whole game again

this game is good some of the conponets are better then the other two but the skill systeme sucks and takes for every the rewards are cool some thing more to work for

And I didn't know that Destructors are so good because Splash and spell critical, but where can I see the splash damage and/or critical chance?

And what I wanted to say is the skills reset button is missing, too. Custom maps won't do too much, because main menu is: New game; continue game; play custom map; .... So playing a custom map theoretically doesn't count to your experience and game going. I would rather suggest playing some maps repeatedly (I know it's boring, but if nothing else helps...): Little forest, racing track, strange circle, odd portal. They are quite short to complete and related to their shortness, they give plenty of experience and gold. Other category suitable of repeating are Island of Woe, Massive Portal (last map), Mountain Fire, The Roundabout, Soggy Shipyard. These are long but really easy with a very simple strategy and give you loads of these (gold and ecperience). These were advices to the ones who want to maximalize their skills or get all the awards.

I saw a comment in here about creating a custom map and giving the monsters tons of gold and XP, does that actually work? Every time I create a custom map and win it, I lose. I checked the map editor comments and they say it's bug ridden. Also, is it possible to respec?

Frostguard: My main problem is that there's no customization to it. One of the things I loved about the first two games was the ability to choose skills appropriate for the map you were playing. This game removes some of the strategy. Unit improvement is much slower due to the dearth of skill points.

Maxhavoc: I do not understand. It is true that the skill system in this game is far worse than the other two, but the game itself isn't. Heroes are a good idea, but a bit expensive both to hire and place on the map, and they could improve a bit more quickly. A very big advantage is that it is somewhat easier than the other two (I haven't finished reclaiming the throne yet, some of the levels I find (almost) unbeatable), and that we can initially upgrade to all three professions, and rogues, archers, destructors and quickspells don't need a skill to have. The only one thing it lacks is some special but beatable maps (if you remember reclaiming the throne: Not so vast forest, for example; it was very hard and I had to try it many times, but I liked it very much).

This game seems to be a lot worse than the previous 2. I have to replay maps just to get sufficient XP to get skill points? That's incredibly lame. In the previous two games one win=one skill point. Replaying the same maps over and over again for XP is like grinding an MMO for experience. Lame.

Originally voted a 4, decided to knock it down a star. It's reasonably entertaining, but grindy, and is basically the same old Protector gameplay. The heroes add little IMO (and I have my doubts about their buffs even being functional).
It's not bad, but hardly great.

a fair bit of casual fun. The music is particularly well chosen.
Did anyone else spot the spelling mistake in the Map screen?
