I also miss those one or two epic levels that allow me to fully upgrade my units.
As it is the longest level is 25 Waves and I barely have enough time or gold revenue to upgrade any single unit past Level 7 (the 90gp mark) as Level 8 requires 2000 xp and 100gp.
Anyway, for now 2/5.
Fix the bugs and work on the game balance.
Provide some feedback.
Add a decent epic level.

I really enjoyed the first two protector games.
#3 however could use some work if you want it to be the same quality as the first two.
Pros: The Awards system and Heroes system were an excellent idea. They both gave me a reason to care about playing other than just simply beating each map.
Cons: The Heroes are too expensive to place on the map to make them useful and the Award for using only Heroes on a map is impossible to achieve as far as I can tell.
The Tavern (at least for me) does not allow me to view the stats of any of my hired heroes past the second one and because of that bug I can't level the heroes in slots 3 - 7 rendering them useless to me and a waste of money.
The "Hard" Levels were pitifully easy and the "Medium" Levels were significantly harder than the word Medium suggests.

Just like the rest. A bit lame, and too difficult to see what units can do. Maybe Heroes should be the highest level unit on a map, and at the end you keep them.

I'm also having problems with awards. For exemple (and they are numerous) : I've upgraded 33 mages to poison but I still haven't win the Art of poisonning badge which is supposed to require only 20...

I find it hard to utilize heroes in a battle. 200g just to use them is a lot, and I tend to use the money to upgrade the mages and soldiers instead.
Otherwise a good game.

Balance issues in the leveling and award system. No possible way to get the Heroic Efforts award (no map starts you out with 170+ gold, which is minimum required to place a hero first with 10 points in the Leader of Men skill). Fast Learner skill is a complete waste, since required XP to level goes up faster than the bonus you get. Elemental Mastery award does not work. It's a little disappointing that you can't really make use of the "legend" status characters very often, since you need wider attack strategies to pass most of the levels.
Honestly, I'd be sorely disappointed if the Protector series went out on this low note.

I think it's stupid that you get 0 experience when you fail. I think maybe you should get like a 75% knock off or something, so eventually if you suck enough you'll pass :p

On the older protector games there were at least a few levels w/40-50+ waves right? At least there you could actually see what a totally buffed out mage/warrior could do.

It's really too simple... And there is no uber final map... Only two days to finish all the maps. But i like it... I'm waiting for a super huge protector with many many maps and lots of waves (200 hundred waves on a single map would be fun, hi).

OMG heroes completely useless !!! need 400 exp to level, it takes forever, they cost too much and do nithing. they dont get the required exp ebcuase their dmg is low

So, I just finished the new sands with two mages.
I only had one that I did not upgrade untill about level 10 or so and he was one shotting regular mobs, and 3 shotted the bosses. Wtf?
Also, why are there heroes that are more expensive than others, when the cheaper one has better stats and effects?

I was able to finish little forest by using 4 energy/concentration tacticians. (generalism upgrades)
If I remember right they were all lvl 6 (may have been one still lvl 5) by the last wave.
