Another minor complaint: since armor is flat damage reduction, armor penetration is a flat damage increase against units that have armor. But the units that can get armor penetration typically have high damage per hit already, meaning that the regular % damage increase skills increase damage more even against armored targets (and of course work on unarmored targets also) so that it's really only useful for filling prerequisites for more damage. On the other hand, units that have low damage and therefore most desperately need armor penetration can't get it, meaning that no matter how you build them they're nearly useless against anything with more than 4-5 armor.

my only problem is that there's a lot of guess work when it comes to choosing the right heroes for the job. After choosing a hero whose element corresponds to the recommended element, you only have 2 spots open. Many times I've had to end a mission just because the other two heroes I picked were the wrong element. In the old games, this didn't matter because you could put units of any element on the field. Perhaps next time you could give us either a way to change heroes in the middle of a battle or a way to learn more about what elements we'll be facing.

I think that there should be an item, talent, or unit skill to enable melee units to attack flying units, even at reduced damage is fine as long as they aren't useless. Please vote up if you agree :)

well, i like it but.. ill be doing good, no leaks, lots of units, lots of upgrades, then they send out super haxxor wave that can barely be touched. wtf.

Great game! My only criticism at this point is the 'fire hero' button, which I interpreted as being a glitch, telling me that all my heroes were of fire element. Maybe changing it to 'disband hero' would be more clear. 5/5

The trouble with that is that it's very easy to get screwed on normal quests because you guessed wrong about what heroes to take.

Does it make me a bad person to wish there were reputation and maybe even gold penalties for losing? Just makes the game far too risk free, in my opinion.

This game seems to complicated. You have an rpg here, a tower defence there. It might just be me though. I'll give it a 4/5 :)

As a start i wanna say, i really love your games (:
Now I wanna say; You really got to do something about the leveling og units on a map. Right now, I can't spot who leveled after just a few rounds, since they all got the level up effect on them :/

@deepvoid - I guess I am a silly goose then. =P Will check it out should I come across it again.
But there seems to be bugs with consumable items pertaining to heroes and not yourself. The ones that allow you to learn a new skills work just fine, but the others end up as something undefined and stays that way even after you refresh. =X Lost some items I had in my inv and a hero with all his xp gone.

Never-ever wipe a hero's memory, not only you might lose several items to a bug but the hero will have far, far, far less skill points than before (especially if you have the construct which has +1 in every skill normally)

maybe it's just my character set up, but every single flying enemy in this game seems ridiculously overpowered! I can barely pass the second quest in the game because they all have flying waves!

There's a small glitch in your design that causes problems when running other flash applications in other tabs. When a map is finished, it stops all other flash applications (pandora etc) from running.

Forgotten Cavern is by far the toughest storyline area to beat in relation to when you come across it, which is not far in. To beat the swarms of enemies, you will need quantity of units over quality, although you should have the money for some advanced units as well. Put a lot of fire units in the back of the map to deal with the many fire-weak enemies. Then later load up the entryways with energy units so you can kill the boss off quickly before he gets to your fire units which he will absorb. Hope that helps a little.

I honestly believe that this td ran its coures after the second one. No rating for me. Rehashes with a few new tweaks is not my idea of fun. Your on the 4th gen of a td. Not only that, but a fairly young one as well. Why don't you go outside the box and actually try something new? Its a decent game. I give it that. But so were the allll the others.

also some shortcuts might be nice, like space bar to accept on info and send next wave, so that i don't have to manually click the buttons each time

The game is great!
Just one suggestion: Make possible to see each unit skill tree in Heroes Screen (On Mouse Over Unit) I can`t memorize all trees and its not nice to access it only in battle screen.

I have to agree with twilight dagger. I just thank god that sonny stopped with 2. flash games don't need sequel after sequel. I'd prefer to see original content rather than a shinier new game that we've all played before (although, I will admit, Protector IV does a good job at not being a Protector 3.5)

i like the game very much i just can't figure out how to get new heros and i have a leadership of 14 i may be stupid but i think that should be enough to get at least one new hero i like the game 5/5 just wish i knew how to get new heros if anyone could help me that would be great

Same stuff as ever. I just enter every TD just to rate it 1/5. I just can't believe that most folks just like to play the same stuff over and over again, just under a different title and theme. Rate me down, I don't mind, just because you don't seem to have a mind. =)

Great game but i have one suggestion. NEEDS TO HAVE THE OPTION TO SELL UNITS!!!! if you have enough gold to replace a basic unit with an advanced one thats GREAT :D!!! too bad you cant get rid of the first one. :P

It's nice to see Kongregate get special treatment over Armor Games for a change. Anyway, I'm glad to see another Protector game, this series is so great.

Epic Game.
At one point my energy mages were so overpowered though that I didn't need any other element unless the bosses had energy absorption.
Definitely need badges!

Too easy. I use one hero and one unit. I change the element if necessary, but it's usually not.
Please add a way to speed it up even more. It's too slow right now.

For a game so strongly focused on planning ahead, there is certainly a disappointing lack of available data that might help me actually plan. I should know what kind of enemies I'm facing before I choose what heroes to use, I should know what abilities and armor my enemies have before I pick what units to place, and on complex map layouts I should know how the enemies path before I decide where to place my units.
