protip: only use the mage...and play the map "the great hydra" over and over again...its only 10 levels, but gives ur mage lots of exp! (1500 for me! =O) and put ur exp/skill points into magic use and tactics!
and if there is a absobs level, use a "change element item"
tadaa! u can now beat every single level in the game

@voidbreather read mu post below, i know which missions u talk about. I needed only one skirmisher that dealt them about 500 dmg ( not critical ) and that was very easy kiling. U just have to know the game !

I honestly wanted the series ended after playing Protector 3. You have not only redeemed yourself, but surpassed yourself as well. You have produced one of the best tower defense games i've ever played. Cheers. A guide for how to operate certain skills/effects might be nice(Stealing, certain talents, etc), but either way, thank you for making an extraordinary flash game.

i have a record of my own. In the very last mission, The root of all evil, i hitted the last boss, using barbarians advanced unit named Skirmisher for 1750 critical dmg. Believe it or not, but its true. How ? well 30 points in ranged and 15 in element makes is far easier. Then the best skill against flying units ( cuz he is flying ), idk how much it gives total, but surely more then 400% dmg. Then the two +40 and two criticals. And here u go. Plus he had weakness against psychical attacks, so its possible. If i had about 500 exps more i would hit him for more dmg. Btw i had 4 units like that. So 5 or 6 hits and the last boss was dead. Quite a rip off for skilled players, that wanted some epic end. Still 5/5 game. Make Protector 5, and make it much much much larger, more more units skills, etc. And like 5 times more mission :)

Bug: World Dominator quest from the Protectorate: With no flyin' baddies that's weak against cold it says in the mission preshow. Then when I start it, there's firstly flyin' then it's fire baddies that's weak against cold.

Done. The storyline quests are too easy and rewarding, the side quests the opposite: at the first levels too hard and compared to the storyline quests not really rewarding. A bit more balancing would be nice! Despite all this critique: 5/5! ;)

I really love the new stuff, it makes the game so very much more interesting having the heroes and the ability to vary what they are capable of fighting! To me it is still a strategy/defence game though, not an RPG at all. IMO.

A nice challenge. PLayer really level up slowly, even i put many points in wisdom. The protectorpedia now is poor, 'cause many things are not clear. How can i use the scroll to change basic/advanced units in units of other factions if i don't know (and i can't know) what unit is linked to that faction? Some missions are nearly impossible, because putting just one wave of fliyng units of one element that is the element onther waves have resistance, and maybe place it at the end, making really hard to level up that units, requires a level of "elemenal" too high to be reached. Anyway, is the best chapter of the saga, very good, lots of entertain and very nice concept. 5/5 just because i can't rate it higher :)

Element switching completely kills the tactical aspects of this game. There is no incentive to put exp into any hero other than your starting mage. What is the point of the huge diversity in troop types and heroes if we aren't even gently forced into exploring them? I've played the game right through using only two heroes and probably won't bothered trying all the unit types unless I get a skill out of it...

Very good game... but to easy... after 15 levels I never failed anymore :( unlike in the previous protector games. This is a great improvement though, with addition of RPG elements in this defender game.

just a question could u change the upgrades of units only to gold, cuz when the stronger units get past ur 1st units, then ur 2nd units can't defeat them, cuz they're too weak 4/5

beaten quest chain with only fire and energy heroes and used "elemental switch: cold" on one of them when needed :) loved it

Also needs a way to "turn off" certain units or units from a certain hero. It sucks to have units healing a boss because of the regen skill...

which scroll changed basic units into thiefs? every scroll never changes to a thief :s i accidently changed it once and cant get it back :s But great game i love, the spellin mistakes are hilarious " "20% More Splash Samage " xD

Hugoooo, melee units seem to do a bit more damage than ranged ones, but with so many flying waves where they just stand there watching, I don't use very many of them.

Watchers were too powerful with a speed of 4, but with a speed of 9 they're completely worthless. That nerf is a bit too large.

1. Needs hotkeys. Clicking "X" 10 times per minute it's not entertaining. Actually, it's tiring.
2. The "Speed Up" it's still too slow. Make a 5x speed mode, please. =D
2. Pop-Up explanations of everything. Come on, not everyone reads the long semi-tutorials-storyline-windows, a little pop-up makes the world easier inside the battle screen.
3. Better explanation of units skills. The flavor text it's cool... but sometimes we just want to know if unit "A" (which we have never seen before) does a splash damage or if unit "B" (which is also new to us) has poison or piercing in the skilltree.
Besides all that: 5/5, favorited.

Something very strange happened to me. My favorite units the watchers went from a speed of 4 to a speed of 9 and now cannot kill jack. Please find a way to fix my watchers.

I like how it adds some complexity to the sleep-inducing "Tower Defense" genre, but it still quickly becomes a boring grind.

Nothing to do after you beat all the story quests. On the other quests afterwards, I just keep killing all the enemies as soon as they enter the area...completely boring. Needs a harder optional quest that you actually need to be super strong to beat or something.

Great game, though it needs some improvements. First of all, a way to examine the skill tree of units outside of battles. Then, a deeper description of every single skill: what consecration does? In wich order are applied the bonuses to base attack of units? When I put one point on any basic skills which is said to power up certain units, how much it powers 'em up? 1%? 2%? ... Also, there should be a way to group items based on every single specified bonus. If I want 3 items boosting Tactics, searching 'em amongst other 60 is frustrating. Furthermore, loot chance and similar stuffs applies only to the units under control of the hero who has the boosting item equipped, or to the whole map, like the "lesser paving cost" bonus? Specify this. Moreover, the whole game is too easy. Enhance bosses, or put some waves with high armor [beyond level 10, armor below 20 is pointless], or dunno. Maybe with a feature that switches between easy and hard, so everyone is happy.

In your stats screen, where it tells you how many units of each type you've hired, they're all grouped by which faction they belong to for the most part, but two of the Gorland units, the Warrior and the Huscarl, show up in different groups. I'm not sure which one is in the right group. Completely unrelated, the Robin's Knowledge upgrade which appears on Ranged units says it gives "a 10 increase in attack speed." Again, I'm not sure whether that means a 10% increase in speed or 10 actual points of speed, though I would guess it means the former. Anyway, if you could fix these both, it would help me in making my guide to the units in this game.

Very good game! I just HAD to play through it on one take. Figuring out how to best encounter different levels makes the game quite taxing yet not overly difficult. Unfurtunately there are a few, very few, things amiss:
- having element-change-items makes the game very easy since you can use one single hero to kill everything and accumulate all the experience in one hero, making him/her invincible.
- too many units which you never encounter unless you deliberately hire heros just to see there troops. Yet the difference between units is very small, making the huge diversity mostly useless.
- meele units are IMHO quite unhandy, at least as primary. Meele units being unable to attack flying creeps is as old as Protector and a good feature, but entering a fire-recomendet ballte with a fire-meele-basic unit is suicide, unless you have a second fire-hero up your sleeve. This is of course not necessarily true.
- the Stats screen needs a mouseoverinfo for the units.

I totally LOVE the Protector games! And this part of the Protector series is by far the best 5/5! But the speed-up button needs improvement like: 2x/4x/8x etc.
