Great game, kept me up for hours, only thing I have to complain about it the fact that the majority of the enemies are flying meaning it's too hard to use any good fighters so I have to use alchemists.

PS: If you continue with this kind of gameplay in the future, I'd also very much like to see maintenance fees on heroes and your per-round starting money tied to your overall money, to help make the "mercenary" thing feel more.. mercenary. I'd really like to have to debate buying more units because I want to save money for the next mission, and think it'd add a layer of depth.
Long and short: I like this version of the game and where you're going with it, but I'm probably going back to play past installments instead of this one again as there was considerably less challenge and no penalty for failure.

C) One other problem is kills give way, way too much money compared to previous versions on many maps. For example on the final map, any difficulty at all was trounced by the fact it was giving me so many hundreds of coins per kill that I literally had to throw money away on buying a massive army. Many times I've had to just buy a dozen or more scrub units because I simply have nothing left to upgrade, and my /existing/ forces were holding the line.
... so in short, patches I'd like to see to this version is an increased difficulty mode with less cash in-mission and a way to look at unit types in detail before purchasing them.

B) Not enough diversity in the unit types! I can't say how disappointed I was to get a cool looking/sounding unit and ultimately have it hold the same skill tree as 3 or 4 other units. It'd be really nice to see the skill trees before purchasing units also, to avoid overlap. I loved the unique units like the Reavers and Scavengers, or low damage high-range thieves.

I really like what you're doing with this version, but I have a couple complaints (having just played it through):
A) It's far, far easier than previous versions of Protector, largely because of all the heroes and hero buffs on top of your main abilities.

it would be nice to knaow the units abilitys/upgrades before hiring a general... also archers seem to be a bit overpowered... but im ok with that.

@keno31404 I'm pretty sure samzero20 meant you should be able to "sell" if that's the right word the units you "buy" during a quest.

Also, i dont know if people realize it yet, but you get Talent called "Scout" when you complete a certain storyline quest. You actualy get it at a early time, and it gives you a " more in-depth Protectopedia " by telling you its hp, how many of them there are, and ect. I believe it even shows this stuff before u select your 3 heros.

@samzero20 lol fail, you go to the shop, which i believe is right above the main menue button. Just click on the equipment to sell it, there realy isnt a need for a sell button when selling is that quick.

darkfox click on the bluish home flag on the map. it looks like any other fight flag but it takes you to your camp where the heroes are waiting to be purchased

Regardless of my cheap strategy, still love it! I replay all these game trying to only use or focus one type. Thanks Undefined, you ass holes, you ruined all other tower defense/strategy rpg element games for me!

Its actually realy easy to go through the entire game using only trainee kirana's mages, just change the element every now and then

Second play through. Upgrades seemed to be a waste the more I strategized. I just got a caster hero with a wizard basic unit. I'd just fill the screen with them and not upgrade. beat every map with ease. I would change the element with an item when needed. Maxed out my caster and then went on to elemental. 'Strong against' stops mattering pretty early with the amount of basic damage you can do. Just make sure you dont have element on when a wave has absorb. Use an item to switch.

A little advice for people new to this game. Build a solid defense of around 10 guys or so before doing any upgrading. The first five or so rounds arent a problem at all for conscript units, which is long enough to get a good, solid defense, then start upgraing, and soon you'll have more money than you can spend on upgrades, use this towards paving certain tiles in strategic locations and building elite units on them.

Best TD ever! I completed all the achievements on Nov, 8,2010 and I am still playing the same game trying to unlock everything. I have close to 25 hours into the game and can't get enough. Very fun and rewarding! Please don't stop making Protector games.
