I relied solely on the magic hero from the beginning, and I found it to be a nice challenge, until I came to the energy absorption giants... I also had no clue that you could purchase such convenient, powerful items from shops. Although it was a neat feature indeed, the game was actually more fun without such a contrast in heroes and great items, or at least the ease at which you could acquire both.
All in all, without items and relying on a single hero, the game had me playing for several days due to difficulty -- I basically leveled up the hero and gave it super powerful items and was finally able to overcome everything, except the absorption dudes!

A hotkey to get out of the skill-tree menu would be nice. Having to manually click all over the place is a bit irritating.

Would be great if there were some few enemy units who can fight against the players units. They stop all of a sudden, attack the Mage/Paladin/whatever - and if they win, they just keep on moving. And the Player lost one Unit on the Map. And if not...well, there could be a skill involved (Healing), so the Players Unit will get by as Time goes on. There could be also a special Skill, a Paladin with "provoke" for example, who can STOP a passing-by creature and force it into 1:1 Battle. Assisted by all the comrades who are in range, of course.

it is nice how every protector game uses the mouse, not the keys because they go sticky on kongregate for some unknown reason

If anyone else had trouble with Citadel Road, don't worry about just using your main hero, your going to need to use 3 different elements to beat this one. After 3 tries I managed to beat it without losing a life.

Tool Tips for the Units in the Stats Menu would be ever so nifty, and bump my 4.5 up to a 5 ****

Super weak that when I ran CCleaner it deleted all of my progress in this game, too bad, I was havin alot of fun with this.. don't feel like starting over though... :*(

Virtually ALL the sound effects and most of the sprites are lifted from Ultima. It would be nice if the developers would at least mention this.

Why do people post ads on comments in games?I'd think many people would ignore them just because of how annoying they are.

Well...Items, random quests, exp gained even if you fail - the whole rpg-elements, a moderate difficult (Protector 1-3 are tough as hell IMO)...so many improvements make this Game by far the best Protector. It has grown up from a small (and very difficult) TowerDefence-Game into a TD-RPG. That`s the right path and I bet Protector 5 will be kickin` ass too, IF this path will be followed and the rpg elements aren`t gone in the next Game.

Amazing game, gets you hooked with the hero stats. I kind of would like to see the pt value for stat increases from your hero for your units. Instead of just seeing "this will make range units better" actually have a value. Or in game be able to mouse over the atk and defense stats of the unit and it show a breakdown of how it is so high. Amazing game though, i have seen people try to charge money for worse games!

This is the best tower defense series EVER. Rich storyline, has thrills, epic monsters, everything that anything needs for a good game. Nice that it's on Kongregate. + If you agree.

Have to agree on the comment about balance w/flyers. It makes half the units in the game almost completely useless to deploy.

3) Knowing ememy strengths are more important than weakneses, so strengths should be visualized also in quest details screen.
4) I have found no explanation of what is gold return and steal chance.
5) Game is too easy. You can win 95% game quests using only one hero and one type of units. No deep strategy needed )
6) Melee units are useless because of flying enemies.

The game is cool. I like it. But the gameplay might be better. I'll list things I dislike in the game.
1) Wisdom do not worth spending skill points in it. It's supposed to give long-term advantage by allowing hero level up faster, but actually you can finish the game before you get extra level from this skill. For example: my hero finished the game at level 44. Total amount of exp earned was 49500 and 2300 was needed to level up. If I had invested 1 point in wizdom at level 1, then for the same amount of battles won my hero would have earned extra 989 exp which is not enough to level up, so in this case my hero would have been weaker.
2) Incoming heroes are too weak. I think amount of skill points they initially have should grow during game progress. If I have lvl 20 hero I must be stupid to buy and use a hero with 4 skill points.

why looks the GUI of the game so good, but the heroes or figures stay so much unaesthaetic? Really, I love this game, and that's why you should rework them!
