Nothing to do after you beat all the story quests. On the other quests afterwards, I just keep killing all the enemies as soon as they enter the area...completely boring. Needs a harder optional quest that you actually need to be super strong to beat or something.

Great game, though it needs some improvements. First of all, a way to examine the skill tree of units outside of battles. Then, a deeper description of every single skill: what consecration does? In wich order are applied the bonuses to base attack of units? When I put one point on any basic skills which is said to power up certain units, how much it powers 'em up? 1%? 2%? ... Also, there should be a way to group items based on every single specified bonus. If I want 3 items boosting Tactics, searching 'em amongst other 60 is frustrating. Furthermore, loot chance and similar stuffs applies only to the units under control of the hero who has the boosting item equipped, or to the whole map, like the "lesser paving cost" bonus? Specify this. Moreover, the whole game is too easy. Enhance bosses, or put some waves with high armor [beyond level 10, armor below 20 is pointless], or dunno. Maybe with a feature that switches between easy and hard, so everyone is happy.

In your stats screen, where it tells you how many units of each type you've hired, they're all grouped by which faction they belong to for the most part, but two of the Gorland units, the Warrior and the Huscarl, show up in different groups. I'm not sure which one is in the right group. Completely unrelated, the Robin's Knowledge upgrade which appears on Ranged units says it gives "a 10 increase in attack speed." Again, I'm not sure whether that means a 10% increase in speed or 10 actual points of speed, though I would guess it means the former. Anyway, if you could fix these both, it would help me in making my guide to the units in this game.

Very good game! I just HAD to play through it on one take. Figuring out how to best encounter different levels makes the game quite taxing yet not overly difficult. Unfurtunately there are a few, very few, things amiss:
- having element-change-items makes the game very easy since you can use one single hero to kill everything and accumulate all the experience in one hero, making him/her invincible.
- too many units which you never encounter unless you deliberately hire heros just to see there troops. Yet the difference between units is very small, making the huge diversity mostly useless.
- meele units are IMHO quite unhandy, at least as primary. Meele units being unable to attack flying creeps is as old as Protector and a good feature, but entering a fire-recomendet ballte with a fire-meele-basic unit is suicide, unless you have a second fire-hero up your sleeve. This is of course not necessarily true.
- the Stats screen needs a mouseoverinfo for the units.

I totally LOVE the Protector games! And this part of the Protector series is by far the best 5/5! But the speed-up button needs improvement like: 2x/4x/8x etc.

So ive been playing this game slowly over the last week and today when i tried another map my people were attacking a lot slower then they should have been, when I looked at their speed it was 3 times higher? So, i decided oh it must be that special map. No, every map now that I go to has my guys at much slower attacking speeds then I used to have, and whats weirder is that unit speed increase items still work the same just on the new slow speed. I dont know what happened to make the game hate me -.- now i have to create a new game.

I don't really like how new heroes need to be hired to place units of different elements. Then you choose 3 heroes to bring in to combat, but without knowing what elements the enemies will be. Why make a system that forces the player to enter a level and then leave to gain necessary information?

How the hell does the watcher have the slowest speed in the game ya it needed it to be nerf but come instead of a picture of a rabbit it should be a turtle.

Well, I still love this game. Going for the 50 talent badge atm. I've noticed that a few of the skills in the skill trees of some units [like chaos mage, for example] have misspellings, like mixing up the 'i' and the 'r' in 'their'. Other things like doubling up on the flying ability on the scout bar, as well as having the flying ability on monsters that do not, in fact, fly. One of them was a necromancer. I know they do not fly, lol.

I've been playing this game for about three or four days now. I just don't seem to be making enough progress. Overall, the game seems bloated and there's not enough control over the characters I can use. There's too much left to chance, what with the different people to hire and random gear that pops up with trivial stat boosts. This game is a lot like Spider-Man 3... looks great but it's a mess. Is all the micromanagement necessary? Must I have to level up individual characters? It just takes forever. At present, I have only won 33% of the battles I've gotten into. Why? The micromanagement slows things down to a crawl. Again, there's just no progression. Plus, it takes forever to adequately level up the characters during battle. I still haven't beaten the forgotten cavern because the enemies level up faster than my guys. I put them all in the back. They kill all the enemies. Yet it is inevitable. My guys will lose.

Seems a bit wordy; and a bit too in depth as far as some things like the talents go. Let the down ranks begin, I guess.

I've reported as a bug, but it might be intentional. If you have two permanent (not-consumable) element switch items, you can use them to make a persistent change to a hero's element. Equip the one you want to last. While it is equipped, equip the other element. Exit hero screen. Return. Unequip both items. Exit hero screen, return. Hero how has element of first equipped item, even though neither is equipped. If you have element switch items for all five elements, this means you can change all heros to any element as desired. This seems an exploit to me, instead of a feature.

It is so sad to see that there is no impossible badge for completing stuff other than the main story. If would be really great and a good incentive to get all of those 100 talents.

Watchers+crossbowmen on a hero with a lot of ranged attack is all I ever used. Just kept element switch items around or ate cheese when i need so that the enemy wouldn't absorb anything
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
just spam thieves and upgrade there chances of looting items and you can win easily. note:its good to have 2-3 heros with thieves and different elements to counter everything. 5/5

Redwow,
your leadership is how many heros you can mannage at once .say if its at 6, you can only own 6 heros.when your leader ship goes up so does the amount of hero you can have.

I feel like the game's too easy. Once you get the hang of it it's just grinding out the last few levels to get the badges.

When you go to the main menu, many gold and items are lost when I come back. Can you put an active saving option in case?
Also, some units need some rebalancing... there are some skills that scales badly.

I have to commend and agree with Pixelhead777, in thanking you for making Kongregate your home. I have not yet played the game, but I will. Again, thanks.

Make a buy back menu for the shop! If you accidently sell something you can buy it back for the same amount of gold you sold it for, + if you agree!

Awesomely made, good gameplay, not a lot i could say was wrong with this one...even has a real story line, which counts in my books...5/5!

This game is fully developed and very amazing. *(ASIDE FROM A MUCH NEEDED TRIPLE SPEED BUTTON)*
People have said the strategy part is missing and its more of a grinder but if you take into consideration the different types of heros it becomes very strategical and tactics come into play. At first i thought i was good with my ranger pure line up then i realized i could use someone to poison and someone to slow and someone to all around devastate with damage. Then it began to broaden the whole strategy thing. Slow + Poison + Damage = Win. Not the best strategy but line the map up in that order and you should win. It works good with my stats.
All in all it just needs a 3x or 5x speed button and its perfect.

ok here is my review on protecter IV.
I cant stand what the game has turned into.
the skills are bad because there weaker then the last.
but the game is good but weak, the game changed so much I can only play for two minutes then get sick of not choosing if my mage or warrior's class(fire,energy,ect...).
So on my review I give this a 2/5....

I have a hero with about 6% loot item, but I still haven't gottin the skill requiring looting 1 item, is there anything special I need to do for this?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
anyone that complains about flying waves are wasting their time instead you should grind a bit with a hero that has mages or crossbowmen and pour skill points into magic and ranged. just be sure that you concentrate on one skill it makes it so much better. i can complete most quests with 10 crossbowmen and never have to upgrade them even once, and finish with sometimes 1000+ gold at the end.

@Rogererette that is pretty much what i said but people rated it negative to oblivion. anyways, its probably because your browser does not accept the cookies. or your flash player does not allow a big enough storage. if you are using firefox, try using ie.

Great game! I can't seem to stop playing. Just one suggestion... buff up the protectorpedia a little. I haven't played the others too much so I'm getting quite confused with the skills. For example what does consecration do? Also some game mechanics, for example why do imps who are weak to poison receive little damage even with poison theives attacking them? (I'm guessing they have some ability not mentioned?)

Wow, something failed majorly there. xD Corrected: I even got my boyfriend to play and he usually doesn't do TD games so good job. :D

@redrazor: Part of the difficulty of this game is that you can neither sell nor move units. It's part of what makes the Protector series so great. t usually do TD games, so good job. :D
