You sir are made of win and more win, I've waited for a 4th and got what I wanted! Thank you ever so much, shoot for a protector 5 in within 2 years!

My biggest problem is some of the levels are almost impossible to beat. The recommended element is useless half the time, and archers hit like kids wielding slingshots. Even with the boosted damage, flying units get through 90% of the time.

Hi vengenceofchaos, you can pave the 4 grass tiles in the middle. I'll probably update that map to have rubbled paving instead since it seems to confuse a few people.
As a note to other comments about recommendations, it fails to take elemental strengths into account too, just weaknesses. I'll get a new little system to handle those sorted out soon. Hopefully in the next update now the major bug is worked out.
Glad to see people enjoying the game.

on the "The Great Hydra" level there is absolutely no where to place your units. Not one spot, and not one spot you can pave. =(

Recommended Element: Physical
Downfall: the second to last wave that is immune to physical.
end note: dont give recommendations

Issue with Knight's ability, instead of "bleeding" the hit points of a target it bleeds the maximum hit points for some reason.

Just slightly too hard to be the pinacle of TD games. IMHO, the previous Protector games had enough RPG and strategy elements, now it's just too much to be bothered with, especially if you're going to dip in and out of this game for short periods.

Great, the game says that the best element I should get is physical and, for my surprise, two of the waves are immune to physical. 2 fire archers can't hold a wave by them selves...

Amazing game, surpasses the first 3. The only thing I see wrong is that if you slow an enemy that is early on the list down, your people will attack it even if it is farther from the end as compared to other units. 10/5 =D

Oh jesus christ, another Protector game, I can already feel the bloody thing pulling me in - *just one more game Jounin* *Just one more game*. F******!!!!! ITS TOO STRONG. Cant...... resist...... must..... not..... play.... ah f**k it just one more then...

Pretty good, although the flying units are way too powerful. While I can fight off different units, when there are 50 fast armoured flying "muthafu*kas" I know I'm screwed...

Great game, but quite difficult. Very often a single flying wave destroyes me, when i don´t have the efficient element against it.

This is by far the best protector game that's been made...but it still seems like melee units are almost useless. I rarely use them because when a flying group comes in I get raped because I spent gold on melee rather then ranged or magic users. Also, the rangers seem to kind of suck...I got them thinking they'd be great against air and help even the playing field...but they turned out to be pretty useless and the crossbow men seemed to be way more effective. Still, this game is great and I don't let these little things bother me too much. Awesome job. =)

One thing that would make this a whole lot better, imo, is to make the costs of increasing a certain stat based only on that stat's level, as opposed to the total stat numbers one has (i.e. swordplay @ 2 and magic @ 2 = 4, thus the cost of lvl 5 is how it is; I'd like to see it as swordplay @ 5 and magic @ 1, where making +1 to magic is cheaper than adding +1 to swordplay).

Sradac, my point is that the recommended element is, with disturbing frequency, not an element you should even bring. Take my latest example, where the recommended element was energy: Not a single wave was weak to energy. That has nothing to do with strategy or planning ahead any more than would instructions giving false information. It's simply a bug.

I shouldn't need to load up a different Protector game to find out what "consecrate" does. A list of the effects from various afflictions in the Protectopedia would be most welcome, or at least a change in the Paladin's skill tree description.

The best way to win is to put all power in one element and one Hero.
Give your favorite hero only skill points in ONE main skill (your favorite from: Magic use, swordplay or ranged). After the skill is maxed out fill your element with the further points. Make the same with Your own Skills.
Dont hire new heros or only, if you wish to put all your personal skill points in abilities from your new hired hero (Even bevore hiring, after hinring you should use a deleting scroll to get your points back).
Dont sell element changing items, so you can switch elements without extra costs. The only and big weak point of using one main hero is, if your enemy absorbs your main element. Enemys with only element strenghts are not the big problem, because the strengths win is higher than the loss due the enemys strenghts.
With this rules is this game easy to play, but you cant really enjoy the many diffrent units and its abilitys.

and for the innovation, maybe a way to import your pet protector from one of those games as a hero? Give you something extra for putting that hard work into creating an awesome hero in the other game.

@ cortillaen
its called strategy and planning ahead ;) that suggested element is just a general recon on the enemy force. If you see suggested element of fire, dont go in there with 3 fire heroes. Mix it up. Take two other elements with you.

Is the "Suggested Element" selected according to which element has the most waves weak to it? If so, I suggest adding a consideration for the number of waves strong to the element, too. As just one example of many, I go into a mission with a suggested element of Physical only to find four waves of ten weak against physical, but all of the other six strong against it.

Has a lot of factors that make it really annoying to play
you have to read A LOT
its really annoying to upgrade units one by one
I changed my basic unit and now im stuck with a footman, with my magic specialized hero
i bought like 5 scrolls to change the unit and im still stuck with a footman!!!
ughhh

Game is to hard in the one aspect where you will be doing perfectly fine on a quest and then one wave just annihilates you.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Eh. Same old game really. Sure, some features were added, but it didn't really *add* anything to the game. Making a game more and more complex isn't adding value. How about some innovation or a solid story? It's a good time sink. The game hasn't really evolved at all, just adding more stuff to make it look like value is added.
However, it does what it does well. The bad part is that 90% of the game is the same as the last version of the game, which was 90% the same as the one prior, and so on.
undefined, you have skill as a designer and I'll give you that any day of the week. I just would love to see something more... substantial from one with your skill. Perhaps partnering with someone to get some fresh ideas?

For all the critics out there, keep in mind that we play these kinds of flash games for FREE. Appreciate what you get, and respect the effort that the developers make.

Leaving a match causes a failure? ... More negative points. Wow, this game has a lot of bad quirks for passive players. ... I really hope it doesn't win the monthly contest just because of a few rabid fanboys of the series.

Can't adjust quality outside of combat -_- Just one of many tiny flaws that hurts the game and prevents a high score.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
this is annoying: it says "recommended hero type: (1 of 5 pictures)"...but NEVER tells you what OTHER element is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL! and the hero types available for hire are RANDOM...and you need to raise your leadership skill to be able to hire more heros-at teh expense of other skills that are also essential...forget it. good try, but much to complicated and frustrating.
the only new thing i like is having 3 types of basic units: footmen, archers, and mages. archers were too hard to obtain in previous protectors.
