I'm rather disappointed with this one. I used Advisor Gordan throughout the whole game. I simply levelled ranged skills and spammed Crossbowmen on EVERY SINGLE LEVEL aside from the first few, before I realised it would work. Element Switch items allowed me to dominate levels with Phys Absorb.
WAY too easy compared to the previous games. 4/5

Derik: No shit Sherlock :P 4ever: Ye don't. That's one of the key aspects in this game, that ye don't get to sell units. Ye need to plan a bit and use some tactics to win this game, not just grind and grind like too many RPG's ends up with. Though I hate it when I accidentally place a unit wrong, hehe.

the intro is heavily inspired on mount&blade, some of the slogan things are even literally copied, nevertheless a good game

I've used a Memory Wipe and it really, really, bothers me. I've lost over 8 skill points: all my starting skills (leadership+4, toxic skill+1 and mercantile +1), skills I got from talents,... it's really bugged. Beware!!

how do you sell a unit that you dont want anymore? You know what is dumb, I built a bunch of lightning/energy Units around the map, then a boss that absorb lightning/energy comes and laugh his ass to me.

Ye know, after playin' every Protector over the last week, I just notice how I still think protector 1 as the best. Nr, 2 are the evil son-of-a-bitch hard Protector that goes 2nd place. Although I love the new units, customizable heroes and such, I find nr 4 too easy. That capped alot of the fun in this game. So I have to say this is on last place, shared with Protector 3. (Still 5/5 and fav)

wow just at end game i HATE teh stupid absorb enemys they are so gay i have SUper mages fighting and they just absorb.... what am i suppost to do about that?

Love this game only prob is that some of the characters are so Over powered eg basic mage with 38 magic powa where other units just sux pyrotechnition 5/5 :P

protecter 3 was too hard but this one is perfect you are a great game maker that deserves everyones appreciation. I have seen the series grow and develop and i can tell that you have gained a lot of expierience by making this series thank you and congratulations

Only one question: is there any other differences between melee and ranged/magic attacks except of ability to shoot flying enemies? If there is not, than melee units is just worse than any others (and that's not cool at all))

Well I like this game, but!!! there is no creativity with the units...just different graphics mainly everyone has the same abilities just with a differant name.....I expected more :[

Also you should be able to shoo off your current heros if you want. For the random battles that generate it would be nice to know how many open slots you start with before the battle so you can take advantage of the paving bonus items.

No, you cannot sell units. The game gained lots of things with the campaign mode, but also lost the simplicity of before. Also it's too complicated to achieve a good strategy for some levels and you have to wait until you find the ideal general.
Pretty enjoyable as all the protectors

Paving never costs less than 15, but the -10 paving gloves stack really well. I believe my hero I used just about exclusively after mid-game is 'lvl 30'. Spent all my points on tactics (20 which max) magic 4 element 4 special 2, plus 2 chaotic emblems and a champion's boots. She came in the initial 3 heroes and was energy/trainee/archwizard. I changed her elements a few times, a waste, I know, but I sold all the items cause messing with them affected my enjoyment of the game, and the money I got was plenty compensation. Get looting. I didn't on my guy for a long time, but now have 8 and 8 leadership. As well as 9 magic. This is a great game, but it was very easy, I used this hero for almost every level, and probably could have used her for EVERY level if I had had the patience to play with the items. Debuff, poison, power hitter...SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS....

So uh, I hate to ask what is probably a stupid question which has probably been answered before, but what does steal chance do? From the talents that say things like "Stolen over 500 gold" for the completion requirement, I would assume that they have to do with getting you extra gold, but I can't figure out how they go about doing that.

You can get tons of experience in Forgotten Cavern. You want your best Fire mage and your best Energy mage, one with teleportation. The key is that on the final round of monsters, the boss absorbs Fire but is vulnerable to Energy. So until the final round, you need to work on maximizing your Fire mage levels; you need at least 4 upgraded fully, positioned near the entrance.
On the final level, add three energy mages. Upgrade their teleportation powers fully, and depending on how well your boss is holding up, you can upgrade one of them a bit more.
You may have to play around some with positioning, but the end result should be that the boss never gets to the end of the level before he's teleported back to the beginning, and absorbs enough from the fire mages that he never goes down to zero. Meanwhile your energy mages are gaining experience. Just save enough gold to upgrade an energy mage to finish him off, because eventually it goes super-slow, and will eventually lock up.

Just dropping in to see if their is a Protector 5 yet, or if there are plans to develope it? I love this series and eagerly await the next one. Its SO much better than the gemcraft series.
