Gonna have to agree with the people claiming there's no real strategy element to this anymore.
Strategy involves different scenerios where various permutations of a set of known actions can take place. There are no permutations in this game -- it's a very strict set of conditions that must be met for victory and with the exception of one or two maps there is no room for deviation from this.
Probably my biggest beef is the fact that warriors are still pretty marginalized in this game -- if you can't level-up and afford 2-3 archers before the first round of flyers come, you need mages, so if you're levelling mages to take out flyers what do you need warriors for?

Wolfbrother, how would you recommend taking on the 5th available places? I've tried a few different things, and I keep losing at the 18th wave. Can you describe 2 different strategies for success for the Achirion Wastes? I can't come up with 1, but you don't seem to find the game challenging, so maybe you can help me out.

awful, really.
You have to go into a level, check all the waves(are there flyers? are there absorbers?...) then exit, based on that do your upgrades, and attempt. If you don't succeed, retry with little variation until you got it just right.
This is not "Chess" and strategy-based.
This is "Mastermind" and requires you to guess exactly what developer had in mind for each level.
There need to be different options to win a level...not wildly spread and all too easy, but at least SOME divergence of how to do things.

Just changed my rating from 5 down to 3.
There should be more than one way to beat each level.
If you only have one path that can be successful then it stops being strategy and becomes simon says.

i think the game would be better if the levels didnt have one certain stratagy(srry if i spelt that wrong) and the medium level was a little easier

I think Sickbrain is complaining that there's only one way to actually win the various levels. I'm having a tremendously hard time just surviving the first medium places... Well, the places on the second island.

You're missing SickBrain's point. Sure, there are a lot of customization options, but typically, there's only a couple ways to customize to beat a map.

I'm not much of a td defense fan however I found this game was fairly enjoyable for a while. So in order to prevent my biased opinion from becoming a biased rating, overall i believe this game is a 4/5

SickBrain- In this you actually have more freedom of choice! you can have any power on anything, in it's respective class... you can also have elemental fighters... one last thing- you can have a mage of any element (for damage) with any power (debuff, infect, slow, or cripple). by the way... great game 7mil./5

like this series (UO Defender, Protector, Protector-RtT), BUT, i dont like the loss in freedom of choice. You need to exactly copy strategies now to have any chance at all. Don´t like that.

Boy! Most of the maps are way too hard! Even on Easy level.
It seems to me that the programmer(s) doesn't know how to keep a game balanced. I think they tweaked the difficult setting to fit their own demand. And this is what I hate since the days of CBM 64! Develop your games for your customers, not for your own!!! (Changed rating from 4/5 to 1/5 and removed from favorites)

The first game was nice, but this is much better. Every move counts. One small request: how about a keyboard shortcut for the wave info? Great game, guys!

i love it, just like loved protector.
But 2 questions:
1: what does the Amt stands for in the enemy description?
2: Why cant you see enemies immunities, in the description?

this is such an amazing game. it improves on the first protector so much.
i have just completed hardcore, i dont know if its just me but it was the easiest to do, i had spent so long trying to get past normal it was unbelievable. 6/5

Technically, yes, there's a speedup button.
But all it does is take the game from "Mind-numbingly slow" to "Still got time to make a sandwich".
Other than that -- awesome improvement to Protector. 5/5 because I love sandwiches.

i beat it with 4-6 mages
put 2 up front....
2 in back...
try to get the 2 up front leveled up as fast as u can...
give them cripple and make them destructors and anything that gives them more damage...
its alot easier if u have the 2 skills that increase experiance...
oh and make the 2 up front cold
and the 2 in back fire

how do you kill the bats in the mines? I can get them to 1 hp with criple but cant figure out how to deal any damage to them.

path to shoreview, just put one poison mage in the middle and keep upgrading him. 1. infect, 2. specialism, 3. inflictor, 4. large increase, etc.
