A great game which i don't think needs a delete/sell button and the frame rate is fast enough on my computer. However, there needs to be a fast forward or something if a monster gets through and has to wind its way round to the exit which can take some time. Also i've noticed that on maps where enemies spawn from two sides that often one side will have a higher spawn rate than the other which ruins any balance you could have in leveling up mages. Still 5/5

This game is just awful. It has a complete lack of balance between health progression of creeps and the gold/xp progression of your units. I find that typically no matter what combo or strategy I use everything goes fine until about 2/3 of the way through a map and then it all goes to hell because my 4 of each unit can't take down the suddenly super healthy mob, or my 3 of each unit, or my 2 of each... You get the idea. I feel like this hearkens back to old games where you have to find the exact pixel to stand on to find or do something, except here you have to have the exact right combination of mages to complete a map, and if you're one or two off you're screwed. That's not good game design, that's sadism.

Also, the "advanced defenders" are vastly underpowered for their cost, and their upgrades suck! The archer only gets +10 anti-air per level, but after a few levels it starts costing upward of 160 gold just to upgrade +10. You would be much better off just buying a 2nd archer.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Game balance is still a bit wacky. The "ultimate mastery" upgrade is so overpowered that the game becomes really easy once you get it. Dexer upgrades are still not balanced. Fully generalized dexers have 350+ base damage at Level 9, (Legendary) while a specialized dexer will have only 100ish. Even with 91% crit, the specialized dexer does less damage on a critical strike than the generalized one, and the generalized one attacks faster.

needs more maps, cold mages dont really slow like they should at high lvl's, special units start off hiher lvl but for the same price I can pump up a normal mage to5+ and do more damage faster and the palidan IS usless not just because of the limited range but the fact none of his skills make up for the fact he cant hit flyers so stick with dexters.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@jayjaykuba: Just place all dexters. All over the place, the first one, place them in the most strategic position so they can hit the most.

Would also benefit from more variety to advancement, either Skills or in-game upgrades. All mages have exact same speed and range. Should vary somehow (other than lvl 6 generalist gets +1 range.. that's a good start, but..). I should be able to spend 2 skill points to increase the range of one unit type by 1, for example, or a skill point to increase firing speed by 10%.

Good quality, but the design isn't great. The super units are unnecessary (I used a necro twice and an archer once just to try it). They're expensive without being very good.. better to level 3 normal units instead. The "hard" levels were often easier than the others.. One of them (the one with 4 entraceways next to each other) I just loaded up 10 cold mages in front of the entrace (a specialist on each side, and the rest general), and nothing survived more than 10 seconds. Even the final level, only one wave ever got out of the starting rings, and I had tons of extra money...
Anyway, add more variety to the resists in the Hard levels, and make the super units better, and balance the spec/general abilities better.
(Dexter example: level him to ~5. A generalist hits for 100, while a specialist hits for 35 with a 20% chance to do triple damage. Hmm.)

Great game, its fun and has a short learning curve. My only complaint is that the dexers and advanced towers are too weak.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
when the map is 'mirrored'... like you have monsters entering from 2 locations...
and when 3 monsters come from one spot and 13 from another.... thats just plain bullshit

Legendary Protector
Dude! You just completed the Legendary Protector achievement in Protector and won the Legendary Protector badge and 30 points!
Yay! Anyway! Great game! Only things I can really say is:
- can get really laggy
-should be able to save during a level, or have checkpoints
-once done, it would be nice to get a congratulatory screen.
- Annoying to click upgrade but then you can't cancel it, unlike when pressing space to cancel a unit placement
- advanced units = useless
- final boss could be harder. Final level could be harder in fact.
Anyways, great game, the addiction is finally complete! Oh the hours wasted...

i love the end game option cuz you can just come in to the level check wut your gonna be up against and then end game and relocate your skills so you have no wasted skills like having cheaper fire in a level where their moslty fire in their stregh

Lupullus, TD is a genre> You can't copy genre, you can create something in it. But content is kinda dull, I agree. Competitive though, so still 5.

What an interesting game - tower defense that blatently rips all of its graphics and sound effects from old school Ultima Online. Its too bad it doesnt play the old midi music too, then i'd probably never stop playing.

I actually like that there is no sell-option. It makes planning far more important. For instance, one has to plan where to place Chiv.dexers and not place normal dexers there. A good thing in my opinion

I'm a fan of tower defence games, and Protector is the best of the best of them. Good graphics, great skills system, only thing I'd like to see is a sell option to get rid of units you don't need. But that is a small wish from a big fan! :P How long till the sequel? :D
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Enjoyable and intricate.
A VERY useful upgrade would be the ability to see the level of your units with out have to click on them. Not having that ability makes it very annoying to manage the levels that have large numbers of units.

An interesting twist on the defense genre.
(How do you re-allocate skill points? I've tried clicking, shift-clicking, ctrl-clicking....)

It´s a poor game.
It is having some bugs and a poor gaming concept - so I would not recommend it to someone.
BTW: it is one of hundrets games trying to copy tower defense. It failed to to this.

MacGuges, theres no upcoming bug wave and theres nothing wrong with the size of the game.
Your just a whiner, if u dont like it why do u have to annoy other people.
(other stuff about how MacGuges sucks)

this game deserves the badge slot and all positive feedback on how to make it even more of an awesome game. good job "undefined" for making this game keep them comming!!

Let me explain why this sucks. I found this game through NG, where they crippled some of the game's features, to push me to this site. So when I get here, I discover that the game's squeezed into a smaller space, there's this big distracting white space on the right-hand side, and some bug prevents me from checking information on multiple upcoming waves. I blame Kongregate and their intrusive flash enclosure.
Interesting game, but I wish I could play it bug-free, at the developer's intended size, and without the unwanted chat window. And I don't care for the idea of crippled versions.

Finally got the hard badge, really addictive and also really fun. Although once you get 15 skill points and max out your mages the game becomes extremely easy. Overall an awesome game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
parpy this game doesn't need a damage unt feature. that was tried on picnic tower defence and it totally ruined the whole strategic gameplay side of it. you end up spending most of your time continually replacing lost towers

Very cool visual feel... a lot like final fantasy tactics or something... just more proportionate.
Cool game, maybe an aspect of them damaging your units could separate this from every other TD game.
