One last thing; besides the badge, I see no point in the Advanced Units. They don't seem to do much at all, unlike in BTD etc

Very fun, if not a bit slow. At first I was very cynical, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it.
The only things I could say is it is very slow at times, and it's annoying that if you choose upgrade, you can't cancel it like you do when creating new mages. 4/5

good game, can be more user friendly. Hot keys, make it easier to click on stuff.
And sometimes the enemy will become poisoned (bar turn green) and i dont even have a single green mange! Or fire will fall from the sky, and a few other funny little bugs. also BEWARE! you cannot get badges using levels you beat already. you cant go back and get an accomplishment

fantastic game; 5/5 i loved defender and this is so much improved; but i cant get the badges, i have done most but i cant recieve them

Mostly pretty well-orchestrated and executed, but I think it's slight overkill to force a gold loss for leveling up a unit. Isn't experience enough of a limiter?

I agree with skeelo and thanon with their ideas and reviews. just a minor mistake, not important: the level 5 Baron on map is resistant to physical damage, yet it says it has resistance to fire damage. if it weren't for the wave browser, i wouldn't find it out

I've found that if you enter a map, check through the waves (click on the numbers at the bottom of your screen) and then exit immediatly, you'll get it in 2nd try. First one to see the strategy, then reassign skillpoints, and then breeze through.

skeelo, if you do the same maps over again you get another point under 'maps won', so a more accurate way of telling is by roaming around the big map to see if they all have stars by them

i agree with skeelo on his coments. a little addition:
your former game "defender" got a sweet unit graphical unit upgrade system. i really missed it on "ptotector" upgrading a unit till legendary and still have the same old robed mage under our command is a bit boring. overall one of the best games in kongregate. not as "impossible hard" as dtd. but maybe too easy . 1 shotted every single map. again.. great job. thanks.

Lastly, I think the developers can come up with a better name for the game than 'Protector'! Come on be creative, even Desktop Mage Defense would have been a better name! :P
All in all I think it's one of the best games I've played on here in awhile.

As for unit placement, it would really be nice if you could at least destroy units if you can't sell them. That could eliminate a lot of frustration and you would still be penalized the gold for wasting that unit.
A game speed setting in game would be great, a lot of times you are waiting and waiting for slower enemies to make it around the board.
Also, no 'Hooray you beat the game screen?' I've completed 24 maps, I think that's all of them?

And since they cost so much you dont really get to use them till later on in the boards, and its hard to afford multiples. It would be nice to see a gold skill to help gain money faster to combat this problem. Ultimate Mastery seems to heavily outweigh Advanced Units.
Also AOE damage does not seem to be all that it can be, I would specialize mages way up for splash and didn't notice much AOE damage. Never even noticed any AOE damage from Paladin consecration.

Review after playing the game for 3 days straight!!!
Great game, definitely the longest flash game I have ever played. Not ridiculously difficult to figure out winning strategies like DTD.
My comments and opinions: Pretty challenging game especially at first but once you get the hang of it quite easy. The only maps I had real problems with were Unknown Ruins and the Rat Trap, but I just played them over and over again until I figured out a winning strategy. Hard Marathon = big disappointment! Too easy, won it on first try and only lost 5 lives.
I'm not sure if I just dont know how to properly use the advanced units or if they just aren't that great, but I very very rarely put skill points in them. For starters they cost 10 times as much, and dont seem to do 10 times as much damage.

Some of these combinations really make me chuckle. Most bosses are immune to splash--what nearby creep would they take splash damage off of, pray tell? I've seen creeps with absorb energy + immune to all specials EXCEPT electrocution. And my personal favorite: flying creeps weak to physical. I think undefined was just trying to be a wiseass at times =P

@guindraco: Have you completed a single map with 5 poison mages on the map at the end? that is another requirement of the challenge

Bah, way buggy - I have 158 level gains and the card won't register, even after I rebeat the tutorial level to try to force it.

Anyone notice that it says you're supposed to get 4 range at level 7 for mages but don't? Says +1 with total 4 when you hover over the General option but then still at 3 after you level up.

crazyglitcher, the two problems are the same. The game can't give you the badges until it connects to the server.
I suggest loading up the game, but waiting a few minutes before actually playing. Do something else while it sits in the browser, as long as you don't have another browser also set to a kongregate game, there won't be a problem. If the game never connects to the chat room, come back later and try again.
If that doesn't work, contact Kongregate support.

Weird. I'm not getting any badges or the card even though I have a lot of stats (209 level gains, more than one unit with 50 kills each, 5 poison mages and map completed, etc). Also, somehow the chatroom isnt loading either.
