The whole reason it loads slow is if you exit out of the tab, or minimize it, flash runs at 2 FPS. Just make it timer-based.

I don't know why everyone complains about the preloader, it loads at a decent speed for me. Only thing i noticed is that i'm connected to player.io before loading is finished, i don't mind though

Quick GDR Search Tip: in the search bar type 'devli' and GDR will be second on the list, thus saving you valuable seconds.

Doing it timer based gives me more control over the speed than doing it frames I would think. Doing 1 char every 1/30th of a frame would slow the intro down, actually, I believe.

Ug, you could make the text timerbased, so instead of showing one character every frame, show a character every 1/30 second

@UG is the fix to change the Framerate to an insanely high number when focus is lost and switch it back to 30 FPS when it is gained?

My guess would have to be flash player, as when I stay on the page while it is loading(very rare) it loads it very fast.

I really don't know. Player.io is getting ever more popular, so it could be their side. It might also be flashplayer, which goes down to 2 fps when your not 'looking' at it, which slows down the connection code.

The Preloader is so slow because it takes that long to connect to player.io and grab your data from kongregate. If you'd rather have a blank screen, I could do that. :) Of course, now that I've moved a ton of stuff serverside, I might be able to reduce a few web calls (namely to Kongregate) and speed up the process maybe a quarter of a second...

For the past week, I have gotten the "Unable to connect to player.io mutliplayer server" error. Usually if I attempt to load the page 10-20 times, it works. This time... nothing. You're welcome for the 400-500 plays. >:D
