Quite a nice game, but it could a bit of explanation in the tutorial on the on what the different attacks do.
About how to beat the Dutchman, something that I think helped me beat him was noticing that some attacks are more effective than others against him. Also remember the upgrade stars if you did not use those (and to never buy the cargo stars because they seem like they would be a useless sink of limited stars past very early game).

For people still trying to kill the ghost ship. Use dynamite and then use the aim board attack. Was able to kill the ship this way without losing any of my own.

The Flying Dutchman is a bit difficult in the end. I have three fully upgrad ships of the Line and chop abouta third of his hit points awa before all three ships go under.

Grindish but fun. My main complaint is that there's not really any benefit to upgrading your ships until you get the best ship. WP is the limiting resource.

how the hell are we supposed to kill the ghost ship? i have the strongest military ships, and am using dynamite for every attack and i still cant kill it...

You know how there is an enemy level under there ships? Well we should also have a level under our ship so we know if we are fair opponents or not.

GRINDGRINDGRINDGRINDGRIND....Grinding at its finest, addicted but then realized what I was doing and stopped playing...not a fan but still a good trade based ship game.

Would be nice to know the levels of each city. I went from one city to another city where my top boat was 150 health. The city I went into had 300 hp each and I got DESTROYED. Panama is dangerous... But yeah, level of city would be nice! Thanks and great game! 5/5

an are you sure you want to sell your ship button would be nice. There have been several times when i accidentally sell my ship. other then that great game.

The "good price" is sometimes a liar. I have places telling me that 5000 dollar rum is a good price when none of the other places are buying for any more than 4500. Same thing with the other resources obviously.

Perhaps as an incentive for boarding ships rather than destroying them, you should get to KEEP the ship. Maybe only if it is a better ship, or only if there is no damage. Or maybe, if the ship you board has not been studied, then it should cost a lot less WP to study it. After all, it would be a lot easier to reverse engineer a ship that you have boarded than to come up with the design from scratch.

Decent game. This game could be improved by adding in a more diverse system rather than just trading and buying ships.Maybe in the sequel 4/5

Really nice game, but even with all upgrades and the best ships, it took me 4 tries to beat the Dutchman. Overall 4/5

At first I liked how you could only reach the better defended ports when you had access to the ships necessary to free those ports. This could have been a really nice way of having succeeding "levels" of sorts, however, after reaching Montego and the Caravella/Karakka ships, I was able to reach multiple ports, all heavily defended, with no hint whatsoever on where to go next. Some more linearity and/or documentation would make this game SO much better. That being said, I really love the concept and artwork, please take my above comment as constructive criticism.

I guess I have to revise my opinion. The more i played, the more the whole game seemed unfinished. The game is either buggy (losing cargo when buying a new ship, ability to acquire upgrades you have neither studied nor bought) or, if these are intentional, very poorly documented. The controls in ports and in battle are fairly intuitive, but some documentation, especially for the more advanced tactical choices (aimed targeting, boarding) is a must. Speaking of boarding, the term "board" is used to mean both "entering the enemy ship" and "hull", which makes it unclear what exactly the global upgrade "board" is supposed to do.

This game has a massive flaw in the fact that it completely punishes you for progressing or upgrading. The cost to repair ships increases drastically as you progress and turns are based on what level you are. If you upgrade one of your ships too much the other team is allowed to go first pretty much every time, causing you to ALWAYS seek costly repairs and making profiting off of battle absolutely impossible.

A tip: The ships on the left line are merchant vessels. They have better cargo capacity but less firepower. The ships on the right are warships. They have better firepower, but less cargo capacity. Personally, I like the warships a lot better.
In all honesty the Dutchman is really easy. By the time you can fight it you should already have maxed firepower, AP and accuracy anyway, and some pretty good warships as well.
And 400, you board ships by clicking "Board" XD If successful, it does no damage but removes ALL of the target ship's AP.

4/5 would be 5/5 but the grind to get WP just takes so long :/ If you could buy WP with gold or something that'd be cool..

question: how does the game decide who shoots first? in later game, certain battles can be decided by who shoots first....

@ 8guru8: To defeat the flying dutchman, have 3 of the top-right most ship, upgrade the damage and life (board), and, when fighting the dutchman, aim board (cost 20 AP) with dynamite. I also had maxed everything save for cargo with achievements...
