For DBscotsdragon: From what I've figured out:
Hull: Health
Sails: AP
Crew: Boarding chance
And what do you mean, right upgrade path? You can only upgrade to the right.
Plus, cargo is very important if you need a lot of money.

Really need a warning about the power of each city. Tried hitting Panama and ended up getting destroyed and now I don't have enough gold to repair my ships or trade with, so I'm stuck.

BONUS INFO: Aiming for Hull focuses on HP damage. Aiming for Crew reduces enemy AP (take it below 15 & the ship is out of action w/o being destroyed). Aiming for Sails... I have no idea what it does & it frankly seems useless. + both these comments so others can see them?

USEFUL INFO: Hull (HP), Crew (AP), Sails (Ship Speed). The other stats are pretty obvious. Now, Sails may seem useless (& I think they are here) but they reduce the number of days taken to perform actions at sea. Also, ONLY USE THE RIGHT UPGRADE PATH; the ships are far superior, so you're only wasting coin & AP on the left side. Oh, & Cargo is the least important upgrade.

It would be nice if, when the first ship you have selected when your turn comes around has no AP, it automatically transfers your control to the next ship with enough AP to act (just like it does when you fire). When the pirates reduce your AP to below the minimum that ship can't act, and before I figured out what was happening I assumed the game had glitched (my fleet was just sitting there, no option to fire or do anything else but flee).

After reading the comments, I was trying to put some info/tips together for the game (to help answer some of the ?'s before it's the BotD), but it ended up being far too long, so I've put it on my Profile instead. My apologies that it's ended up longer than I intended, but if you're having any problems, I hope it helps!

(If it's helpful to anyone, I'd be happy to add any extra notes etc, &/or copy it to a Forum page.)
@Kong: As this game currently has a 4.1 rating, how about an additional Hard badge, for completing the game with all of the Stars, and Achievements?
@Vogd: Rather than the 'coin system', a green +, or a red - (which showed if the price was higher, or lower than I'd paid), would be more useful. I would also have liked scroll bars on both the 'Achievements', and the 'Ship Updates' tabs. Thanks for the game, and esp. for responding to many of the user comments!

At the last boss, use Dynamite + Aim Hull. You will be doing about 1,110 damage per hit. It is the most effective way. Enjoy your badge. :)

If you're confused: (1) Quick shot uses 15 ap and does low damage.
(2) Aim hull does the most damage, but it doesn't affect the enemy's crew or sails very much. (3) Aim crew will reduce the soldiers on the enemy ship. This is very important because if you have more soldiers than the enemy, your chance to successfully board their ship will increase, and a successful boarding means instant death to the enemy ship. (4) Aim sail will reduce the enemy's AP. If you reduce a ship's AP to less that 15, then it can't attack at all. Hope this clears things up.

Hit a funny bug on my first playthrough -- I closed the browser window during the intro fightt. When I resumed, I was down to just the skiff, which the ghost ship promptly came and blew up... Made much more sense after I reset the save data.

Why does destroying a ship give you more money than boarding them? Wouldn't you end up salvaging more if the ship's intact?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
it would be nice if halfway thru a fight, i could actually continue to attack instead of sit there at max ap doing nothing

I've read that the weaker fleet attacks first. With 110 health a piece, I was well weaker than that 300 hp fleet that ambushed me without a chance. I wouldn't mind a bit more information behind this game to help the player understand how they're supposed to win.

So I continue to have the same bug again and again. I kill one enemy ship, then the other two shoot. They use their points, then the points magically return and the only thing I can do is end my turn or flee. Despite having the necessary AP I cannot attack or anything. This thus makes the game unplayable, as you'll understand my inability to kill my enemies is a significant damper on the fun. Sorry. Fix the bugs and it'll be much better, maybe add a description for what all these things actually do.

One thing that's EXTREMELY annoying is the fact that I'm stuck between two locations, and when I go to another, I have lost a battle apparently. Also happens when I want to fight a ship.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game suddenly gets unnecessarily difficult and annoying right at the end. The gold penalties for losing battles get too extreme, and things just become very tedious and frustrating. I ended up just getting pissed off. Nevertheless, I'll keep trying... Aside from that, I really like this game.

Apparantly you can get stars, which you can trade for more damage/action points/accuracy/hull/cargo. You can get to this by clicking the plank with the (cowboy)start on it the comes out of the water on the bottem left of your screen.
This could be made more visible and clearer.

Is the Ghost Ship supposed to be unkillable? I have the best ships, all the upgrades, 3,7million gold and 110k war points already. I fought the ghost ship for atleast 10 times now. Using dynamite and aiming at the hull, i still cant destroy it however..

I have three Ship of the Line, with maximum upgrades. But while fighting with the Dutchman, none of my ships' Boarding function works. Is this a bug?

You can win infinite money by buying corn and rice in San Pedro and selling it in Cancun. Then in Cancun buy bananas and sold it in San Pedro. :D

killing crew does the following: makes boarding easier, lowers enemy's AP per turn, and if all crew are killed, the ship cannot attack and does not need to be destroyed to win the fight

A real quality time waster! Seriously, one of the greatest single player games I've played... I actually enjoyed it enough to come back a second time and play it again all the way through. Doesn't happen a lot for me, then again, I might be going crazy. :DD GJ Vogd. Rated 5/5.

Great game, but it should be possible to win against the Flying Dutchman...at least with 3 fully upgraded ships of the line firing only dynamit...

For who want to know what the 20 AP attacks do here's the description:
Aiming Hull: Does high damage to the ship but low to the Ap
Aiming Sail: Does low damage to the ship but high to the Ap
Aiming Crew: Like a less powerful quick shot but you are more likely to succes boarding a boat (boarding is 35 Ap attack)

How come the ghost ship is impossible for me to defeat? you can't board it, you can't weaken it's ap or anything so I was just aiming for the hull, but its attack did so much damage and I was using 3 fully upgraded ships of the line [except for cargo hold], yet I could only get it's hp down to half before it completely blew all my ships up. I even gathered like 100000 so I could use dynamite against it, yet it didn't work, so now I can't really do much because I used all my money on dynamite to try to kill it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Does anyone have any idea what aiming for a specific part of the ship does? I've come to the conclusion that aiming for the hull results in a large amount of damage dealt, but barely lowers the opponents AP. Whenever I aim for the sail or crew, it pretty much does the same thing as a quick shot.

A strange game, where ironically being slightly weaker than the enemy means you will destroy them in almost 1 turn. But being slightly stronger means they will destroy you in the first turn.
So you either have to be a hell of a lot stronger, which means a heap of grinding, or push ahead really quickly to stay just that tiny bit weaker in each fight.

I keep expecting to receive a chest full of baloney, or left-handed pirate hooks, or out of date ticket stubs, or to be attacked by giant sea-chickens.

The game concept is good but there are too many things missing in the game... Where and how can I make decisions if I do not know how much money I have? I can only gauge by buying and selling stuff of in town. After a while, it becomes a grinding game just to get enough gold to level up

fantastic game the last fight was a bit tough maybe wanna scale that down a little but for a boat upgrade game fantastic 5*
