what determinates who att first? cuz i could have won a lot of battles... if i started first, but it seems like 95% of the times they start and i would like to know WHY

You claim the weakest fleet attack first, but that is not the case in half the battles I am in. Pretty sure 3 top tier ships is STRONGER then 3 mid tier, yet they went first.

I had to retreat from a huge fleet which utterly destroyed me. I then had to click the "return to town"-button 20ish times, leaving me at -500gold. Although my ships were destroyed I fought other ships anyway, and when I lost (obviously) and got the "you lost x gold" I actually got the gold back. For example, losing 50g in one battle meant that my total gold ended up at -450, which basically meant that I could get back to 0 gold just by losing a lot of battles, before changing ships and getting some money again. Is this a bug, or is it supposed to be like that? :P

Dear Vogd, I have accumulated approximately 10 million coins. Please add some commas (e.g. 10,987,654) to make it easier for me, thank you.

Was just looking through the other games you developed. I have thoroughly enjoyed nearly all of your games. Thank you for the effort.

PROTIP: Buying higher-level ships is an INVESTMENT. If you wipe and run out of cash, you can downgrade ships and gain back gold to start trading again!
Good potential, but way too many gameplay flaws/bugs for being out for a month! To name a few: 1) if you wipe in the early game, and run out of gold, there's no way to grind/get back into the game. Requires deleting saved game. 2) The first ghost ship encounter might *not* happen, allowing you to get to the first town. When you finally do meet him, if you've spent all your gold on a new ship and no cargo, you can meet him and encounter bug #1. Plus, once you wake in town after the fight, the top-screen info disappears (town name, cargo, gold). 3) Although minor, lacks simple game review. Tooltip when mouse-hover over Cargo is hidden by your own company logo.
Suggestion: with all the confusion on what crew and sails do, add mouse-hover tooltips describing what each stat is good for.

Very easy to get stuck in the beginning of the game after losing your first battle and spending your $ on upgrades. No way to get back in the game, and you need to reset your progress. Player beware!

The final battle is worth retrying. On my first attempt, with three fully upgraded ships of the line (discounting cargo, which wasn't upgraded), I got the ghost ship down to 700 hp with a combination of quick shots and hull shots (all dynamite). On my second try, the ghost ship got its concentration of fire way off, did all of my ships some damage, but I took it out without losing a single ship. On the third attempt (due to trouble with the badge), the concentration of fire was back on track but I took it out again with my last ship in decent shape.
Anyway, the lesson learned seems to be that in a close battle like this the random number generator makes a big difference.

Entertaining enough at first, but nothing about this game really shines. The trading mechanic, the combat mechanic and the upgrade mechanic are all adequate, but fundamentally just too simple and repetitive to stay engaging for long (to say nothing of the story). None of this would be a problem if the game were short and sweet, but the mid-game onwards turns into a slow and unending grindfest, at which point all of these limitations become glaringly obvious.

For those who are having trouble beating the boss: I was able to do it with the best ships fully maxed. I used quick shots when I could get more hits that way, and aim hull when I couldn't. All my shots were dynamite.

The boss seems impossible. I've tried lots of times with different combinations of the best ships, and all shots being dynamite. Can't even get him below 50%. I also saw him from the beginning, he was never invisible. Great game though, real fun.

Weakest fleet attacks first? My fleet gets ravaged by other fleets in basically the first round. I wouldn't call theirs weaker. :( And yes, levels of cities would be awesome.

Due to the same-price transactions, you can just sell and rebuy your skiff at the beginning with no loss to you to earn a quick 5 upgrade stars and start you out with an advantage.

Another shameless Sid Meier's Pirates! ripoff. A+ for effort and granted a 4/5 kong game, but please support Firaxis so they can make better games.

So if you die with the more expensive ships too much you pretty much have to start over.
No money to repair them, so you can't plunder your way back to riches and can't afford anything to trade.

Spent 4 hours determined to beat this game only to realise i just spent 4 hours playing a video game that will give me nothing but carpal tunnel... oh well, too late, great game!

I'd like to see a sequel with larger meaning for trading, for example, buying/building/upgrading boats need certain materials to be in that town and power ups.

I believe this game is absolutely wonderful and awesome because of its graphics, upgrades and different classes of ships, some I did not know before. Love the music and settings of cannonballs, gunpowder, dynamite and Action points

This game is absolutely awesome because of the graphics and different classes of ships, some i did not even know before. And it is extra to the upgrades and pirates out in the sea.

@ allcarfan u are probably switching to either gunpowder or dynamite attacks and running out of money, when that happens it doesn't let u shoot

I played this through three times already, really great game. Will there be more missions or something in the future because I'd like to play more just not the exact same story and ports.

I made it to the final boss, and nearly beat him before discovering that the star at the bottom left of the town screen actually served a purpose
