the scrolling in ship purchasing and achievements window was awkward. for your next installment, a better method would be nice

Beat the game in one setting you may want to consider different difficulty levels. Overall a very fun game. After a certain point trade became irrelevant because I could make more money simply sinking enemy ships so as a consequence the size of my cargo did not seem to matter.

You know I find it strange that a fleet with more health, more action points and more damage is considered weaker than me by the game and gets to attack first. Obliterating almost 50% of my fleet in 1 turn, giving me no chance to win that fight.
It's almost as if the game is on the side of the pirates.

Suggestions: make partial repairs possible, show an estimation of the harbor's defenses, once you visited a harbor, show High/lows of all commodities. Also, there's a harmless little graphic glitch in the skill menu(hull). Otherwise, great game and keep updating!

This 'weakest fleet goes first' thing is a pain, while it's handy for some instances my fleet of second-to-best ships keeps taking heavy damage from lower level fleets and even get sunk on the first turn, Could you try to re-work this please?

nice game, nice design. but if you found out the trick it's might too easy? 4/5 also i got no archievement by kongregate ......

So many annoying things in this game. Why is there a "salvaging" load bar? When I click on the new ship screen, why does it start in the middle and then scroll down so it takes a couple seconds before I can do anything? Why wait for the cannonballs to sloooowly travel across the screen before reporting damage, when I can take the next action immediately (but I won't if I want to see the effect first)?

Its really sad when your fleet cant shoot anymore and you dont have the cash for all the repairs and you cant play anymore...

can we have hover over tool tip for action points, hull, cargo upgrades? As a new player I have no idea of their significance. To be able to strategize the players need to be informed about what's available. Also, I notice a system of focusing on attacking crew or hull specifically. If the combat screen doesn't display these stats then how do we know when its good to use anti crew cannon balls vs anti hull cannon balls? This seem to be a simplified version of the pirate/merchant MMO games. But in those games to attack sail meant you cripple the ship so you can catch it because it was too fast and can escape your ship. To attack crew mean you take out crews of ships that has few crew and that cripples their firing time. Armor piercers take out armored ships. That has strategies, while this simplified version offer the options for those types of attack, but I have yet to see when its beneficial to use any other attack than the normal one.

My ships were defeated and now I don't have enough gold for anything to trade and my ships can't attack pirate ships. So... Game over?

When your bottom ship ets killed you have to click on another ship to show that you want that to fire...i had the same problem at least time trying to take the 5th city.

A suggestion: If you're going to make a game about pirates in the age of sail, spend at least a little time looking up what the various types of ship are. (e.g. Frigates are bigger than corvettes and both are warships, not cargo ships.)

easy ghost ship just focus hull and its done u dont even need " ship of the line " to beat him barques are enough but upgraded
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
How to kill the ghost ship so well, you could do it twice and still win:
0. Get *3 fully upgraded warships* (right column). Not transport ships.
1. Make sure you have *a lots of money*. (The 3 most eastern cities can be used to get over a million in a short period, using the best ships.)
2. Use *only dynamite cannon balls*.
3. *Aim for the hull*. (This is the key! It helps a /lot/ with /all/ enemies.)
It’s impossible not to win that way. In fact it might be a bit too easy.

i have 3 FULL upgreaded ships use 5000gold amo and left the boss on 11 000 hp...
haw to kill it? cant loler his AP .. cant kill him.. imposible wtf?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What I did for last boss battle: equip dynamite, on each ship aim hull for first shot, quick shot for next to two shots.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i notice if u buy a higher upgrade say for hull, lower ones get disabled. are the stats added up? also if i bought previous upgrade why isnt the next in the same category with reduced price

Great game, would be perfect if there was a more throughout tutorial, with proper explanations of diferent combat options. Others have said that "sails" lower the opponents AP, but i aam not so sure about that. I did some testing against different kind of ships, and in some cases "crew" was more effective in lowering enemy AP.

If you get broke , you should still hopefully have atleast 40 gold . Using that , go to the first city , and get back your money slowly. If you have less than 40 gold , sell your cheapest ship , get your money back from buying and selling , then buy your ship back. + so others can see
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The boss is not hard if you know the correct strategy. You should have 3 Ship of the Lines , with hull and damage maxed. You should have all , except cargo skills maxed. You should use dynamite ( 5 k ammo ). The battle may cost you upto 100k cash. Use only hull attack when on boss. I lost only one ship out of three at the boss .

Would have been nice to be able to toggle quality in game. Other than that, I don't see why people have a problem... Simply Go up the power tier of boats (instead of cargo), max out everything but cargo everywhere, then raid the highest level pirates you find... Made 3.8mil gold through it all, then just quick shot/dynamited my way through davy jones. If you die and have no money left, just revert to a previous ship till you can afford to get back up.

The game is nice, but because of flawed economy - 4/5. It's like, you go but some rum (or other stuff) for generic price, and go to another city: "Hey, pal, we actually have a lot of rum here. But well, one doesn't refuse rum!" So you sell rum for the same generic price and reenter that city, and guess what? "Ye, capt'n, we kinda have lots of rum, are you willing to buy it for lower price?" Well, sure, why not. Then go to previous town you brought rum from. "Hey, buddy, we're out of rum? Maybe you have few spare barrels in yer cargo?" The point is, price doesn't go back to normal - it's again lower than generic price. So, after reentering the city rum isn't necessary here again. Thus, rinse and repeat until you make a fortune.
Gladly, I found this "bug" only later in game, so I could enjoy it, but it still could use some balancing.
That's all.

To Doctorsever: just sell or downgrade one of your ships, or start trading with cheap goods like rice. You can still trade even if your ships are all destroyed.

Yet another not so easily spotted aspect of the game is the star at the bottom left corner. If you click on it, you will be able to spend points on improving your ships gained from completing achievements.

Can't believe I wasted so much time to lose out on a MEDIUM badge. Fully maxxed out Ship of the Line, attacked the dutchman, blew out my cash on 5k attack buffs, died, out of cash, can't repair my ships, just plain completely screwed. Bad, bad, bad coding, VOGD. 0/5 for pure fail, unfortunately I had to give you a 1.

The most effective strategy I found was to first shoot for the sails. If enemy got over 30 ap try to get it down to 29 so he can't shoot twice. Sme goes with you. 20-29 ap =special shot. 30-34 = douple quick shot. 35-39 = special and quick shot and so on.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Attacking crew tends to weaken AP fairly well and makes it easier to board the target ship. Attacking hull hits the hp of the other ship most directly, doing the most damage. Attacking sails does the most damage to AP but little real damage.

i would just like to say thank you. i have loved this type of game since i first found tiapan 3000 so many years ago. this one is done very well. you have a 5/5 from me.

simple way to kill the flying dutchman full lvl ship increase damage and action and life and accuracy. target hull all the time dont use any other because he has no crew or sails
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Needs better balance between gold and war points. You can't make any money from trade until you've opened up multiple ports - and by then, you can make a lot more money just killing pirates.
