This game needs bridges, and more buildings or progress late in the game. Many people are at an "end" to the endless expansion, and it seems a bit pointless to continue on
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Some buildings you ever need one of. For example glass production has negligible upgrade coast compared to sand consumption, so just upgrading the one is fine.

http://i.imgur.com/RLoKGb8.png You can get really far with only your main continent. I don't get why everyone complains about cost of roads or energy lines... just make more stone and steel.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Sand? Why does producing as much sand as five scout troops with bucket and spade could produce in a day need enough energy to power a nascent fusion reaction?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fun game until you reach the end game. There us none.
Expansion becomes pointless because pipes, cables, and roads become so expensive that it is cheaper to build one or two super high level buildings. Also, the final building is just to transfer power? Terribly worthless at that point.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It would be nice if we could see the consumption and production separed. I want to know how big me deficit is, how much more I should produce, etc.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fun game, but seriously, 7.96 million steel to make one pipe? "Hey Bill, we're going to need about 999,999 more cranes to install this pipe..."
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
fiberglass is useless, using plastic to produce solar panel is not efficient because you dont have enough plastic to upgrade the panel.....can i burn crude oil? Using so much energy and pipes to produce a few pieces of plastic is so stupid
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
After building everything I could, I kinda lost interest. There needs to be a goal or long term purpose I think. In-game achievements that give you bonuses to production would probably help
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Plz make the game longer. With having crude oil it feels like its not worth getting fiber because there is not really anything to achieve.

this is an example of what i'm talking about. yes, it's a bloody mess. too lazy to clean it. http://i.imgur.com/ffkfkur.png

i wonder why it is that roads and cables don't bother me in the least, until fluids are required in addition? and even then, only barely? run your cables in // with your roads, eliminate cables or roads wherever you can, by running coal quarries off coal burners, or by using coal burners and a supporting coal quarry to power the burner. before burners, just hook your power needs right to a windmill!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
okay this is getting REALLY annoying im getting into using power and its so annoying not being able to pace cable over roads or vice versa

This must be how the CEO of a big company must feel. If it's not an energy crisis it's a shortage of raw materials. More than once I've had my head in my hands trying to balance everything. Never once did I want to stop playing, though.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
to piggyback off what ittlecas said, you can go off the grid by sticking a coal burner next to a coal quarry. you just have to jump-start it and it's self sufficient. place the coal by the road to gain coal, or you can place the burner next to something that needs power.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Tips: windmills (and later solar panels) can be best used off-grid to reduce wires and routing problems. Ex: two lvl-6 sand pits on either side of a solar panel = 0 wires and only needs a road; a windmill next to board factories, coal quaries or stone quaries needs no wires; 1 solar panel for four lvl-4 water producers may need wires but much less and easy to untangle as you dont need to always connect to a battery.

I really enjoyed this thing until I had to deal with power. (This took something like four hours of my night away last night). Then I hit the Energy age, and things started to suck. Power cables can't cross roads, but I need to get both to my factories to function. It's not resource management at that point, but a puzzle game to fit everything in. No thanks.

I thought writing down my backups in a file would remedy my lost save problem. But alas the game does not read my latest save export, It just says "Loading" forever. This was a good game, but its not worth building back up, I just got +1 plastic per tick.

Oh, one other thing -- could you sprinkle a little snow on the Peaks? With my eyes, it's a bit hard to tell them apart from the Mountains.

i feel stupid for not realizing sooner that i could easily continue my steel production without roads... http://i.imgur.com/ngGVZ0K.png

168.9 million steel for one cable really prevents my Endless Expansion... Also agreed with Vacuz's comment on a prestige system. I want to reset and try to make it better. Some sort of prestige system would be a good motive too.

Love the game! 5 stars all the way. I like that the roads, pipes, and power can't cross as it takes more planning. Thank you for also returning 100% of the cost back on sale. Totally makes the game more enjoyable.
One request I'd put in would be to show total income vs total expense per tick of each resource on hover. You show the net which is great but if I want to make a big change, I need to be able to run the numbers more easily without having to mentally check the number and levels of building.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game feels very awkward. To increase the costs of the streets artificially like that is just stupid. It makes sense that upgrades get more expensive etc, but more streets? It feels like a grind just to build more streets. Not enjoying it much so far.

Like with roads, it turns out that you need cables to transport power (until you unlock the wireless energy thingy), but we can wirelessly transmit it in between capacitors!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Karatemango fill everything you can, every connection to road/cable must be used, for example decrease all charcoal factories level by 1, and build 2x more, you will get lots of resources back. Here is my starting area: http://i.imgur.com/iGn09ZG.png
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
mmmh.... what i learned so far:
1. you should build a lot of resources producing buildings
2. you dont need to build in most cases more than one crafting building of each kind
3. Steel is always what your more of. :(
4. You might want to use a random world wich you can change to at "save", but you will reset at the same time.
5. you get more land as you can use properly.
6. Oh and the save looks interesting, i might try to pull something of :P (i will probably fail)
7. Tunnels are useful for transporting resources in mountain areas: here a pic of my staring area XD: http://i.imgur.com/SwnmJ1t.png
I miss a prestige feuture :(

To those confused: It's more efficient to build lots of smaller structures than one huge upgraded structure resource-wise. Upgraded structures are for when you run out of space or your roads/cables/pipes become too expensive. Most of my open space is taken up by board manufactories for iron ore production and I make sure to have all of my cables double or triple-sided with power production.

This is a terrific game, lots of potential, sure there are problems here and there but nothing an update couldn't fix. 5 stars from me. Suggestion: how about adding houses that each hold men and can be upgraded to hold more, and add "manpower" as a resource. You can't produce it but it immediately rises when houses are built/upgraded and if you don't have enough you can't run certain building. Anyway, keep it up!

@kohlenstoff Storages can take from producers directly, without building a road, cable, or pipe in between. So there are a few places where you could eliminate an unneeded road or pipe. Also at least one spot you could build iron mines on untapped squares next to storage.

so far its prety fun, would recomend, also i would like to see an option to draw out plains for areas for one who like planing ahead
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Suggestion: I would find it useful to be able to look at the raw stats on the various commodities. (Probably in one of those hover over tool tips that everything else gets.) Specifically total income and total outflow for each commodity. I would also find it useful to be able to put custom labels on individual items. This is the Southern windmill or the number six iron mine etc. (This would help me keep track of supply chains.) I might also put in a request for an easy to access toggle switch to turn on and off the tool tips. They can sometimes get in the way. But this is a quibble, not an issue. Overall I am really liking this. Thanks for listening and keep up the good work my friends!

I'm getting extra sand from somewhere when i login today. i even deleted all my sand and glass factories and concrete and confirmed the zero output. rebuilt all the sand and again there was extra production coming from somewhere
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
amazing and in compare to the other comments i hav no negative reaction
yes its hard to get oil with the connecting problems but if you take a 3tile island (wich are common after the 4th expand) you make an energy and water store and then connect them to the deep
people who are complaining about that this game needs updates becouse its so difficult just need to accept that they need to get better in puzzle games and if they cant than its their problem
anyway great game i love it <3

i lost my progreess in game (not big i didnt even get steel)but now when i retry i got everything back 4 times faster than i did got it previous time
