hawk45. Your maps are so efficient. I ususally cover all available land with collectors, but you convert to reactors at some optimal time. I'm assuming the short path to a reactor outweighs the unit build for them compared to outlying collectors. Even with your maps, I can't get near your times.

Anyone else noticed that your base cant output mor than 32? i have 55 collection but if i build anymore turrets my deficit goes up without the depletion rising or reserves lowering...

As much as I like the game, it needs to be a bit harder - I did todays (9th Jan) in 1.28. I'm not even that accomplished a player.

Great comment, Chilese. I completely agree that a great feature of this game is that it can be played and enjoyed so many different ways. I didn't know about the tip of sending the city right to a collector. Makes perfect sense now you said it. I don't like micro-management, say I'm too lazy for it and I play the game leisurely.

Thanks, Chilese. It sounds like I may have had a different setup for the mission on 1/8 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=bv86c&s=5#.Us4xu_2A35g

First time I resolve a map like this : I send a wave of blaster on top of a spawner and I quicky rotate them to keep up the ammo. It take a lot of micro management, but as we know once the spawner is dry, it's easily controlable with very few energy. You must target a spawner on a mountain so the creep from the other down drop on you.
If you can hold one of those, the map pressure start to drop dramaticaly.

@aronbon: The credit for ridiculously fast time goes to the few. So far iMiPi (no longer playing), hawk45 and a few others have been gracious enough to post both their times and screenshots. Many times I don't even realize that a killer time can be had until I see an extremely fast time. HINT: Usually these very fast times involve dropping Odin City into the creeper for the final connection to the last totem. Odin City can take a huge amount of damage and still be used to complete the level. For today's challenge, Odin City was hovering back and forth between a collector and the uppermost totem. You must use the Pause button to effectively use this method. While some argue that this is an abuse of the game, I prefer to think of it as merely one variation (fastest time), just like many like to cap all 5 wells. The beauty of this game is that it can be played i many different ways. They are all valid. But at 64 years old, I am happy to take any compliment you youngsters might offer. :-)

1/6 - 9:27 It's possible to finish this mission with a time of 8:30 - 9:00.

1/6 12:09 with the same strategy, and still far from being perfect. the trick is to coordinate the launch of a drone with the movement of some blasters to take over the big plateau on the right. advancing on the ledge would be way too slow. another strategy (not tried but may be more efficient) is to take over the hole at the center.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
1/7 7:09 plain vanilla strategy move up then left then put a mortar next to the hole top left then invade the mountain on the left with the help of a drone to speed things up.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
1/6 13:03 particularly simple strategy, move the base to the left, build lots of energy + one mortar then conquer the part on the left with 4 blasters then conquer the plateau on the right with 3 of the 4 blasters + 1 drone.

1/6 - 15:22 using 1 drone. 2nd attempt. How did you chaps do? I'm particularly interested in hawk45's time. I'd bet it's under 10 minutes.

I did the 6th challenge a totally different way. I built up some basic collectors around the starting valley until the area was full. Then, I made 4 blasters on the cliff just to the left of the start. When the blasters were done (about the time the creeper was invading), I took the home base and the 4 blasters and invaded the creeper instead, moving to the center upper hill on the bottom, two blasters on each side. Using reactors and only two active blasters (after the initial push, just to keep the two spawn positions inactive), as well as SAMs, I then built up from the mountain and took my revenge ;).

I did it differently than visionhunter, actually. I only used one drone, and focused on the rise to the left at first. Built two mortars (bottom right and bottom left), then focused on SAMs. Two sams were all I needed, then I started using reactors and built the drone. After a while, I could relay over to the bottom left of the map and move a mortar there, which allowed me to easily clear out the left side. After that, simply move along the rise and get the totems.

Today's is hard, but doable. Land your base on the rise to the left of your starting position. Make sure to get Drones early on (as usual) and keep pressure with them on the bottom right corner while using Mortars to suppress the bottom left. Then focus on clearing the big bay to the right of your base and rapidly expand there with Collectors. Don't forget to build some SAM sites, the Spores are numerous.

Jan6 is probably the hardest mission I've ever encountered on random generator. Then again - I'm not a fan of SAMs and got my reactors blown up 2 times in a row!

I was a good 10 seconds off too, and there isn't anything else to do. But faster = less creeper on the board to deal with too, and mostly it's down to energy management. I hit one from last week with one fewer collector and took me like 15% more time to do over hawk's.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
1/5 - 1:44 was the best I could do. And I couldn't get near your 1/4 time even with the thoughtfully provided picture. But I do thank you for the impossible goals you present.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
4 Jan 2:05. 30 Dec hard to see how to finish that much faster, you're going to have to clear and hold a lot of flat ground and don't have a lot of space for fast power.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
A nice addition would be barriers that can be upgraded to higher levels so that they become taller and withstand more damage and if the maps were more difficult that would be nice
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
12/30 - 7:30 It should be possible to finish faster... I don't like to play the longer missions more than a couple times. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=29mshvp&s=5#.UsMDsv2A3q4
