@IIIX I was trying to do what you said, and it was doing well actually... Until I realized I was taking too long and 1 game hour passed. Died because the game thought I wanted to enter survival mode.

@phreesh24: no, I could do it ;-). Wasn't easy though, took me several tries to figure out a working strategy. Fast start, go straight north, build a blaster to protect the plateau at the center of the map and a mortar to bomb the hole slightly south of the center. Build just enough blasters in the valley to keep the city alive (2, then a third later). Sometimes move the mortar to control the north west too, otherwise the creeper flows over the hill and it's over. Progressively expand, at a slow pace to never be too far in deficit, and it's possible - without moving the city and without reactors or drones. By the way, friday's map (nov. 16) was also a nice challenge if you're playing with these self-imposed limitations!

The only criticism of this I could make is the size of the archive, being able to go back to favourites from more than a few days ago would make it even more stunning. That said, /easily/ 5/5.

Today's map looks interesting... I love it when the random map generator creates maps such as today's map (Nov 17). I can already tell it's gonna be a doozy. Shouldn't be too hard though, I haven't played it yet, I'm looking at it right now... Trying to decide how I'm going to set it up. After I beat it, I'll let you know my strategy.

@phresh24: I usually play without moving the city, reactors or air strikes to make things challenging, and it does make today's map quite interesting :)... In any case, if you allow these things, here's how I would go about it: (1) move the city to the island on the south-west. (2) Connect towards the north. Build a mortar there. (3) Take your time, build generators. (4) Conquer the map... Should work fine I think.

You'd think that if I had enough reactors then they would produce enough energy to keep everything going after the city leaves. Assuming they have AIs, which they should, they have travel by portals.

I absolutely love this game. I can't believe how simple yet fun and extremely addicting it is to play it. Although... I do have to say it's kinda too simple, not enough variety. I would love to see a remake of this game with more weapons, bigger maps, and maybe different kinds of creeper, or maybe an in-game level creation design.

I really like the enemy of the game. You can't "kill" it persay you can only contain it until you get through the portal.

I enjoy playing strategy games and such. I dislike tower defense games, because the enemy is on a controlled path, but games like this are amazing. It feels so simple, but you just can't stop playing. Even when you're losing, you just want to fight again. It's a simple game, but amazingly addicting. I have no words to describe how happy I am that this game exists, I wish I could rate higher than 5/5.

How can you not like Drones? Sure they take a bit more attention but they are the best bang for the energy packet in the game. The value increases when you jump to survival and need some breathing room on a weak area of your defense. Fly over 7 drones and you will get a window to rebuild...at least until you get over 300 emitters...then things get difficult :)

10/30 in 1:04 by using the same setup as dgoodhue except dropping the base in 2 blocks lower, right on top of the little pit in the ground

10/20 1:20 - Don't forget that the totems act as relays, to help speed the gap to the left totem before the creeper can surge up into the valley.
