I finally killed the world! And I didn't start in Madagascar!
Step 1 - remove starting symptons
Step 2 - build up heaps of evo points
Step 3 - get all transmissions at once
Step 4 - maxed out heat and cold
Step 5 - hope and pray Madagascar gets infected before they clsoe their border
So make the disease as transmissable as possible, spread it quickly and then make it lethal later. You should be able to close off the hospitals before they get around to making a vacine.
Still don't like the game though, took me about an hour to win (started in Australia, if that makes a difference)

Wow, brazil closed down ports, airports, and boarders with 20 people infected. I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed of this game.

A parasite with no symptoms that spreads through air, water, insects, and rodents...
How the hell does anybody know it's there, and why in the hell would anybody close down their whole country for some disease that hasn't even killed anybody yet?
It's not the black plague, it's a harmless (currently, anyways) god damn parasite that you can't even find because it has ZERO visibility.
No strategy in this game, all of its luck based. Needs a complete overhaul, as it is it sucks and you forgot the "un" in the realistic mode.
2/5

Heh, with the entire world shut down, you would think there would be riots and starvation everywhere. Nope, still everything dandy.
Just added Heart failure to the list and suddenly people start dropping like flies.

There should be a EXTREMELY rare happening that could save you like "Dead body Floats to Uninfected country" or "Rodent floats on wood to Uninfected country" Or something. Just for a last chance.

How does this count as a strategy game? There's only one real strategy to use, and everything else is left to chance.

Do u know the sneeze ratio?, maybe isnt just one sneeze everynow or the but something periodic and well if u think about it, if suddenly all the population of a country started to sneeze 24/7 it would be kinda odd and signal that something is messed up

A man in greenland coughs…
President of Madagascar “SHUT DOWN F*CKING EVERYTHING!”

To other suggestions, I would add a request to the designer for the precise effects of each symptom to be displayed before purchase, whether numerically, or on the same three bars (representing lethality, infectivity, and visibility) used for the overall statistics of the disease, as well as a clearer description of where and how rats and insects come into contact with humans. I would also enjoy seeing a breakdown of how the international community reacts to each symptom, transmission medium, and resistance a disease acquires - perhaps as a fourth bar in the Disease dialog: "Intimitability," or somesuch.

Ooooh, get Level 3 or 4 and Waterborne for all Islands. But some Islands close early, like that lucky bast^rd country Australia (I have NEVER infected any of it before).

Somehow my parasite got to Madagascar AFTER they closed their port. That was the last region to become infected. I WIN!

Some symptoms are funny that they get a visibility rating at all. Like Sneezing!
"OMG! You just sneezed!! Must be that new disease that hasn't even been found and is still completely harmless. Shut down the ports, borders and declare marshall law!"
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the no visibility thing getting detected is probably the disease showing up in tests and shit, but I don't see why they'd panic over a harmless thing.

I'm confused as to why in realistic mode a country would shut down hospitals for an asymptomatic disease, or, any kind of very low mortality epidemic for that matter.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hey, I just sent a bug report telling Blips to look at the comments page for other bugs *I also sent him a bug* #POST ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE WITH THE GAME NOW.#
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
you have to make it so when there is no visibility, THERE IS NO VISIBILITY. When there is 0 visibility, knowledge of it spreads even faster! MAKE IT SO THAT YOU CANT DETECT IT IF THERE IS NO VISIBILITY.

Very, very good game. I like how it's real hard to get to a couple of countries, and it also feels real of how the infection would spread in real life. I added it to my favorites and gave it 5/5.

Why does everybody complain so much? Its a good game and probably the only unique game on Kongregate (except those joke ones). Anyway I got madagascar on my first try. 5/5

You should penalize fast growth with acquisition of visible symptoms. Then you have to balance fast infection rate (what a virus wants) with attention drawing symptoms. Symptoms that cost more evo points to rid yourself of.

What I find interesting is that everything shuts down when something is spreading but remains asymptomatic. How are people aware that they have anything and why does it bother them enough to kill their economies with closed borders and shut down hospitals?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
realistic mode everything except Madagascar is infected with a virus that does not kill for three years they shut their ports? thats realistic?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It needs to be able to go much faster. Also, it needs to be a little more balanced in the populations, and the sensitivity to the virus needs to be lowered.

Sorry, joeybabymwa. That strategy doesn't always work. I've tried it four times now, and some countries always shut their borders/airports/shipyards before it gets to them.
Did you use that strategy on "Relaxed" mode, or the other (longer) one?
