Im old i rember when turn based was cutting edge . So Ideas you could look at incubation or space crusade both great turn based squad games phase one movement then attack /or heal /or skill points system diffrent weapons level up better hp better armour and so on loss of squad member means re leveling them make fights hader front mission great turn based game not the new one though fm on playstation guess it deoends on what you want squad single sci fi fantasy comedy even piarate just depends on how much time you want to spend for a simple game id suggest doing a combination of text adventure so jake wakes up and princess m is missing he can go through the dark woods or the gass plain diffrent mobs diffrent drops hope this gives you some ideas

3some chars like mage most mp least hp and damege warrior most hp least mp rouge high damege medium mp low-medium hp and medium - high damege

you should put in sprites for classes like warrior rouge or mage

this game needs a skill tree and equipment that gives bonuses e.g. dark shot, a ball of dark energy shot at the foe...
