Got to stage 2 getting hit only once. But like many games where you must restart over and over again, you gotta give us something for it, like using score points in a saloon as currency for something like increased reflexes (25% chance to auto defend) or heavier clothing to absorb more hits before getting dmg, or each enemy passed restores health or something.
A little back story or reference wouldn't hurt either, I've never read a story of a samurai running across deserts deflecting bullets from gun wielding bandits that suddenly appear for no particular reason.
