There isn’t really a better way we could’ve done this, sorry!
I guess it’s just a little frustrating to see those points could eventually be used to get something nice, if ever GameStop decides to expand into Europe.
Apparantly badges of the day could be hard badges; many hard badges take much longer than a day to get.
I doubt they’ll pick endurance badges.

Well this is disappointing. I’m printing up the Gamestop hates Canada shirts.
(Not serious btw, its nice to see the whole “We’re trying to create a way for kong users to get reward points” thing come true)

So I have to get a reward card before I can see the benefits of getting a reward card?

Apparently, Pokerhappy.
How much do those cards cost, anyway?

There’s a free one (I guess you go into a store and ask for one, is all), and a $15 “pro” one.

You can be a professional rewards card owner? What is the salary like?
Edit: Yes, I hate misuse of the word professional. I know it is an annoying stance to take, but I need to be anal about something, otherwise I don’t feel smug enough.

Not really much of a salary, still better than the salary of my current job.

That way users have time to plan out when they have time to get the badges, instead of only giving a day. Apparantly badges of the day could be hard badges; many hard badges take much longer than a day to get.
Yeah, I brought up during one of our meetings that World of Warcraft is transitioning to something similar to this. It’s definitely an interesting idea.
That’s a good idea – websites shouldn’t pressure you to have to do stuff every day – that just becomes annoying. A more laid back approach is nice, kind of like the replacement to card challenges. I guess seven a week would work, if that was wanted.
But, even if it stays as it is, it’s still a nice program, that doesn’t hurt anything and could be really cool for some.

Wewt, new feature! Sadly, I won’t be able to participate in the new PowerUp Reward bonus, as I probably won’t be going to a GameStop store.

Instead I don’t agree with the “double points” for the badge of the day; seriously why do we need such an overflow of points? Thanks to those, the Kongregate level definitely becomes a “who has been more on this Website” than an indicator of player skills. Also, the level cap will be now easily reachable in no time.
Do you at least plan to separate pure badge points and community points to limit this inconvenient?
It was already an indicator of who’s on the website a lot to some extent, due to referrals and ratings.

A warning to people planning on signing up for the PUR program, on whatever day you’re going to go sign up, don’t get the daily badge before you complete the activation and linking. You won’t get the reward points for the badge if you do it before.

You don’t get any points from anything anywhere anytime until you activate the card.

Seems great…but it’s not at all worth the effort.
Only offer is 2,650 points gets you 50 kreds…i.e. 5$.
Those 5 points you earned from getting a badge earns you a whopping 0.94 cents (less than a penny)! 30 points earns you roughly a nickel…Say you earn a maximum of 30 rewards points a day from badges…keep this up for 100 days and you’ve earned yourself 5$!
Don’t feel like waiting? Spend 250$ and get yourself the 2,650 points you need to claim your extra 50 kreds!
I’m sorry to kill the excitement, but this “rewards” system is utterly pathetic. You (kongregate) could even multiply the reward points earned by 10 and it would still be a joke. Make the rewards reasonable and you might get some business then.

It’s gamestop; don’t expect reasonable prices. =D
Of course; you’re effectively getting the points for doing nothing; so you can’t really bitch about it. >_>…

BotD is just a bonus for PUR members. You’re suppost to get most of your points by buying and selling things from/to GameStop.
I’d also like to point out that free offers/surveys count as kred purchases, so that’s double the free. :D
Although like Xaldin said above, free 20 kreds is $2.00, but free 20 PUR points is $0.02.

Wow,I can’t believe this new system is worse than earning kreds from surveys. Ah well, this just trivializes earning these points on kongregate even more. :S

Yea, for every dollar you spend at GameStop, you get 1 penny for new items, and 2 pennies for used items. So you have to spend 50-100 bucks (roughly two console games) just to get 1 free dollar (1000 points), which is the cost of the least expensive items in the PUR store.

How would 10 cents for an easy badge be a joke?

Actually it’s 5 cents because the kreds at PUR are about half the normal price, but yea 30 cents for a hard is better than 3 cents.
Right now the average points per day if they use easy, medium, and hard evenly is 13 (1.3 cents). In 77 days you’ll have 1000 points (1 buck), which you can then use to buy a free song. In 204 days you can buy those 50 kreds (5 bucks). If you want to save up for, let’s say a $20 PSN card, it’ll take you 1540 days to earn the points with Badge of the Day alone.

The badge system on Kongregate remains mostly about fun. I wouldn’t start doing the math on PUR points as if doing every badge of the day were a viable career option, but if you shop at GameStop anyway and you’re saving your points up for something, the badge of the day can help you reach it a little faster.
If you’re just after kreds, doing surveys is probably still a better way to go. But there’s a lot of other cool stuff you can get with PUR points — T-shirts, posters, controllers, games, gift certificates, action figures, World of Warcraft time cards, batteries (who doesn’t need batteries?!), etc.

(who doesn’t need batteries?!)
People who insist on using the same few sets of rechargeable batteries for everything and therefore have no need for new ones.
And I really can’t believe all of the math that’s going on related to this, just sit back and do what you’d do naturally, don’t calculate exactly how much you can get in what time frame, otherwise it stops being fun and starts being a chore.

Ya, if I buy $2000 of merch from GS I can get that free card! :D…:/
Or I could just buy the card for $20.
