I’m pretty sure that if you play Death Dice Overdose for too long, the game will slow down due to some issue with it not handling the disappearing dice properly, so it slows down to a point where it becomes extremely easy to earn the badges, and shortly after it slows down to a point where it becomes impossible to even play. I’ll go check it out again to see if it’s still an issue, because it was when it was used in a tournament last.
* * *
EDIT @below: We already discussed that though, I posted another method similar to that one on the previous page.

I’m pretty sure the slow-down issue (unless you get it frequently with a given game) is a browser or flash player glitch. I get it with random games a couple of times a year.
If you’re collecting glitches in this thread, don’t forget the notorious right-click-and-forward that allows you to ‘complete’ levels in several games (the original Button Hunt springs to mind)

Cirplosion has incredibly slow API. Takes longer for it to register than to actually earn the hard badge.
Great job on this!

Indeed, I remember loading it a couple weeks ago, got a score, and it would update about 50 points every once in a while, it’s terrible!

That’s mostly your connection being faulty at times.
We’re talking here about a **MASSIVE PHENOMENON** that happens **ALL OVER THE WORLD** throughout the various lands of Tamriel. It’s the game’s fault.
> I’ll go check it out again to see if it’s still an issue, because it was when it was used in a tournament last.
Yep, the memory leak is still there. And I remember that dreaded tournament with horrendous game choices – that brilliant dude MamboJambo went on and on about DDO for 30 pages+
He owned everyone, obviously, but since the other dudes are kids who get mad at every difficulty, he got hate and was falsely accused of cheating with NO PROOF and he showed PROOF that it wasn’t any sort of value manipulation, editing or anything – it was all legit. Still, he got disqualified because the hosts were children that chose HORRENDOUS games for 7 out of 8 rounds (including qualifier) at that time that didn’t like the VERY CONSTRUCTIVE criticism that MamboJambo made about how to choose better games and why game changes were needed. I mean, the games were so flawed and exploitable that it was like having a button “Earn 999,999 points” at the main menu, but the hosts didn’t care.
Regardless, Kong sucks in the broken badge handling matter.

No, I’m talking about the game hitting the 2GB cache limit, not a lag problem.

Oh. Well, in the case of DDO it IS a fault with the game’s coding that causes memory leak and endless info stacking.

kind of going off topic now, back to broken badges and broken APIs maybe?

If the badges are no longer available, how about making them as the reward of challenges?

If you are also listing exploitable glitches (like in Sonny), then you can add Bloons Tower Defense 2.
Glitch as explained in lajekahr comment: "Warning! There is a glitch that makes getting the last badge pretty much impossible. Copypasta this to keep it alive! You CANNOT fully upgrade your towers by using the mouse. You have to use the keyboard keys. Use the TAB button to select the upgrade and use ENTER to take it. WARNING: It will let you spend money on upgrades beyond the max using this trick. So to keep you from losing cash, here are the maxes: ALL range upgrades cap at 2 upgrades, anything more will not be reached Dart Pierce is a single upgrade extra levels do nothing. Cannon bigger explosion is a single upgrade extra levels do nothing. Neither the Boomerang or Super Monkey can go beyond their 1st level upgrades. And last but not least: Tacks can be upgraded all the way to HYPERSONIC. LAST WARNING: Hypersonic on the tack shooters is, imo, TOO fast. I personally feel it makes even hard WAY TOO EASY. Use at your own “risk”. If you want a real challenge do it without hypersonic."
Good to know that from the 3 broken games I just miss the impossible for DTD 1.5 :O)
Edit: also would like to point: Pillage the Village is a lovely game, but it crashes a lot in late levels. Still possible to get the badges, however.

All Pr2 badges have to be done on Carina but the bird one.

Thanks. That’s quite weird. I cannot imagine what the developer had to do to screw the API that way.
Any updates on Mindscape? I tried dying, finishing a level again, visiting trophies room, using the “submit score” button. Nothing seems to work.

Are you using the ?debug\_level=4 read-out to see if they’re loading/sending statistics at all? I’m going to go through and check out these games (it’s proooooobably my job), but if you’re checking it out anyway, using the debug readout is the best way to go about it.

It worked this time. Maybe it was an issue on my side; Firebug output displayed that the API is working fine.

I though it was ?debug\_level=3 like greg stated in badge suggestions thread. I haven’t tested all games with this but few ones have been tested
EDIT: Cirplosions API seems to work smoothly. However, I haven’t checked cirvival mode’s API tracking since I haven’t unlocked it yet. At least medium badge doesn’t bring any problems

About Doeo, I checked the API when I was planning for games of the tournament and the problem is that it sends statistics to the server every time you touch a Doeo, causing a massive overload of datas to Kong servers that eventually miss the final score.
You can somewhat diminuish this problem by refreshing every time you make a new try, yet it isn’t exactly the best behaviour. A game which showed a very similar problem, but less drastic, is Moby Dick.
Last time that Epic War 1 was featured for BOTD, it seemed not to send any data at all instead, but I have no idea if that was fixed in the meantime.

Yeah, saving over and over didn’t work. Test it and add it to the long list of how Kong staff is lazy. They always come up with excuses that it’s not top priority, but THIS actually is EXTREME HUGE ROYAL UTTER MASSIVE priority.

Just got the medium and hard badges on Whiteboard Tower Defense without problem. Either I got lucky or it has been fixed (?)

you do know its not the kong staff that fixes it right? its the devs of the games, whether its the game itself that’s borked or the bits of API code, the best the people at kong can do is send an email and draw the devs attention to the issue

> Battalion: Arena
> Has some severe server and connection issues which rarely lets you access the game. You can refresh dosens of times and then maybe get in…or you can come and play when rush hour is over. Besides, medium badge really doesn’t favor players as each game takes an hour top and connection error or loosing the game might ruin all that
The above info is accurate, and here are some tips for badge hunters.
If you plan on getting any of the badges, try connecting when _less_ than 40 players are in the game room at once. The connection works oddly well with lower numbers. Luckily, connection isn’t an issue if you’re going for the easy badge; however, be careful. The medium badge will require you to maintain a connection for quite some time. :3

One thing Kong staff could do is to display a warning above the SWF container for those games with known API issues.
Some games (like Doeo) have no way to save your game, so one can spend an hour trying to get that badge only to get a black screen and no badge, then the only way to get a screenshot is to finish the game again.
A “This game is bad coded, please make sure to take a screenshot to get the badges” message would help.
Of course, the best thing would be to remove badges from games with bad API implementation or no API at all, since having a functional API is one of the requirements to get a game badged, but we know that’s not gonna happen.

maybe a simple amendment to the badge description? just add in a little note there saying its not always working and to take a screenshot,

That could work and would also be easier to implement. Sounds good.
