I know that the FAQ addresses points and that there is no purpose to them currently beyond loyalty to the website in essence. It also says something like there later becoming a reward system of some sort for them.
Hasn’t it said that sense like, the first day of its creation?
Is there any thoughts on the points purpose beyond just that!? Competition and loyalty??
I would just love to know more about it, perhaps a higher up could help out on this if possible?

It’s been covered in a gazillion threads since then, there is basically zero chance of anything actually worth anything being linked to points earned.
The only tangible rewards that have ever come out of points, were some beta games being opened up to people at a certain level (specifically Remnants of Skystone opened up a beta to anyone level 40 or over, iirc). But of course even that’s gone now since Kong+ gives access to beta games.

We want it to be something perfect for everyone, and also reasonably doable by the programmers, so our brainstorming will pay off! :)

It would be nice if Kongregate treated points the same way Newgrounds did. Which is to say, the higher your level the more influence you have. Your + and – to comments hold more weight and so do your votes on games. Likewise if you are, for example, level 60 it would take numerous level 1-5 people downvoting your comment to have it actually hidden so that you can genuinely criticize a game for valid complaints without having it obscured.

And this could be an opportunity to do it better than NG, and give even more incentive to higher levels. Of course, this will also mean that Kongregate will need to crack down on hackers. Win-Win.

I don’t think too much more influence is a good idea, although I feel like level 1-5s shouldn’t be given much power due to alt-spamming.

This is somewhat off-topic, but I still don’t see why people see the hiding of comments as such a big deal. It takes literally one click to reveal a hidden comment (and if that still bothers you, there is a userscript that will allow you to change the hidden comment threshold or remove it entirely).

Do you typically click to show hidden comments? I tend to assume they’re spam or trolling, which is the intended result of the system, hiding the garbage. Fanboys covering up genuine criticism isn’t, or at least I should hope not.

maybe points could be used to purchase ‘generic’ backgrounds for profiles, with the better ones obviously kept only for K+ ,

What’s with the removed posts? On-topic : Using points to purchase unlockables is a good idea.

I always do, yes. They’re about half and half between spamming/trolling and minority opinions.
