Thank god I don’t have money to waste on Kreds, considering these recent events.

Then at least keep them out of the games, for pity’s sake.
That’s the point I’m going for – IT RUINS GAMES. SPOILS GAMING EXPERIENCE. ETC. MOAR RANT GOES HERE PL0X.

Arghast again – Then developers would go bankrupt.

You know, you can often get 1 – 5 kreds a day by watching videos. And you dont even have to watch them, just click play. =D

Not all games have Kreds. How come they aren’t bankrupt, hmm?
If people want to make a living by making games, it shouldn’t be flash games for some internet gaming site. Go work for Blizzard or something.

I already told you, my surveys are never updated. I only earned a total of 6 Kreds from doing those few surveys I could without being forced to either buy something or install some stupid program on my computer for 5 Kreds or whatever. Heck, I don’t even have a survey of the day.

I was referring to games with Kreds. All developers without micro-transaction are considered bankruptcy already because the money they receives are lower than lowest wage (unless you’re those super developers that makes good badged games weekly).

The entire concept of indie gaming is that developers create smaller, niche games, focusing on game play rather than market research and demographics. In return, the community supports those developers based on how they feel the developer is doing. The players pay for what they enjoy, rather than being force-fed a price tag.

This is a much better system (imo), because it gives the players the power to direct games, instead of the industry churning out another half-dozen Halo’s.

Sure, we’d all love to play every game for free. I’d also like my rent and internet to be free. I’d also like to dine out every day and not be expected to pay. Sadly, that’s not how things work. If we like a game, we support it by paying the developer. We do this in the hopes that they will then continue to make games we enjoy.

To get more money for Kongregate. Yay capitalism!

The car dealer totally tried to make me pay money for that one car. This is completely ridiculous. I mean, rich people are able to drive cars! I can’t! Capitalism! Ridiculousness! We must protest!

IT RUINS GAMES. SPOILS GAMING EXPERIENCE. ETC. MOAR RANT GOES HERE PL0X.

Then don’t play them. You didn’t even read this thread, did you? Luck-based games ruin my gaming experience. Guess what I do? Yup, I don’t play them. If kreds ruin your gaming experience, then don’t play games that include them. Can it be even more simple?

There is one thing I agree on. Americans can get a few hundred kreds per week. I can get none. Nothing. Zero. Nada. That’s completely biased and unfair. Survey of the days don’t work, many of those “free” offers actually force you to pay after all, and the rest infect your PC with viruses. That’s utterly ridiculous.

What are these other uses?

How much is 1 Kred worth to a developer?

What is the communitys thoughts on these ‘Kreds’?

kreds have been out for a while

He said that on 18 November 2008, when Kreds were new.

And what exactly are these recent events? Most of the games that need Kreds really are games like TDP 4, Dragon Age, Caesery etc. Most other games don’t really require Kreds. I’m just saying my point of view.

TDP4 is loaded with hackers, Dragon’s Call is laggy as hell (for me), and Caesary got taken down.

no offence to kongregate and its programs but i cant realy afford kreds and just because i or other users cant buy kreds we basicaly can not enjoy the full version of mmo and multiplayer games i hear alot of users saying in comments “another game ruined by kreds” it wolud realy be nice if you can get kreds without spending money in your acual real life bank aacount.its a hard economy in the U.S and hardly anyone can afford kreds and have time to fill our surveys.

Hi. Try to look on it from developers side.

IMHO it doesnt matter if game has micropayments or not if its well balanced – for example u can avoid playng 2hours to reach more weapaons payng 1$. If there will be 95 players that spent 2 hours and 5 that paid everything will be good and all 100 will have fun.

And what it means for dev? He will earn ~0.09$ from 95 normal player and 5$ from players that paid.

Here’s my question. It has been stated that “Developers receive 100% of the donations, with out Kongregate keeping a dime”. But Kreds are valued… differently. The base price is five dollars, fifty kreds – ten cents a kred. Over on the other end of the spectrum, the Powerup rewards site offers a set of fifty for 2,650 rewards points. Since it’s 10,000 points for 10$ off a game, we can set the value of a single reward point at one-tenth of a penny. In other words, $2.65 for 50 kreds, or 5.3 cents a kred.

So what amount are they worth to the developer when tipping? Are they worth 10 cents each, 5.3 cents each, or some number in between?
Not trying to start a flame war or anything, it’s just something I want to know.

Just like any rewards system, I highly doubt that the PUR system perfectly correlates with real-life cost values. If every item had to be exactly the same PUR points to Real Cash ratio, it would be a giant pain in the ass to keep everything in check.

There are several ways to earn Kreds for free, even ignoring the surveys. You can download and install software, and then immediately remove it (No, these aren’t all viruses, I got one for Babylon 9). You can watch videos. You can install Facebook apps (I just do this on an alt as they’re annoying and spammy). You can make an account on other websites.

If you live in Europe (apart from the UK) or Asia/Africa you may not get as many offers as Americans/English/Australians, but you will get some, mainly from FB apps and software installations. There should be at least some Kred offers available in every country bar North Korea.

Y’know the funny part of this post is that it’s old. The irony is that both Kyru and Nick support games.

EDIT: Please edit your posts rather than double posting, hun.

The Help section helps a lot more than people take it for. Here you go, though.
