well i did a little research, and was wondering if there is a way to actually get the kreds instead of waiting to get $25 worth? sorry for bringing up another tip jar question.

Youd have to be paid the amount, as paying you in a form of currency generated by the company that can only be spent at the company is illegal. Sorry!

Even then, I still don’t think it’s allowed. Once you get paid though, you can do whatever you want with your money (even buy Kreds!)

What gets me is that you have to wait for $25 in tips; it doesn’t just add it to your ad revenue.

Of course. Think about how much money kong makes from tips. It says Tips are going entirely to the developer which just isn’t true.
Kongregate actually keeps tips for themselves from the majority of games, because there are thousands of small games that get tipped $1-24 and that money never ever goes to the dev but kong gets to keep it. most likely forever if we talk about devs who get small number of tips. A shame really because when I see an amateur game which I like I won’t tip because I know he most likely won’t see a cent of it.
I can understand that there would be a minimum amount, due to processing fees, but that couldn’t be much more than… say $5.
It’s definitely a smart way to earn a buck on the side, tho a bit immoral imo.

o_O Kong takes 30% of the kreds. The other 70% goes to the developer. Before you get the $25, they just set it aside. it’s not their money then.

No?
100% of the proceeds of your tips (after credit card fees) will be deposited directly into the developer’s account and will be cashed out automatically once the game reaches $25 worth of Kred tips.

Ya it’s very confusing. In my Kred Revenue Report it states my tips are 70% share. In the FAQ it states 100%. Either way, summary is you get 0% anyway unless you’re above $25.

Don’t look at the percentages, they are messed up. Mine says 51.9% (share type: mixed, prolly because of the tip refunds) but has the full amount in total net revenue. (Also, yay for 0.59 eCPM from tips. That’s pretty good)

But each kred is equal to 10 cents, right? I have 64 kreds tipped to me, and it shows up as under $6.40.

What if you had the choice and you chose to be “gifted,” not “paid” in kreds? And the developer would simply receive all kreds “gifted” to them via the tip jar?

I think the problem is that when developers don’t reach the $25 minimum payout fee, the money sits there. The dev doesn’t have access to this money and most small devs won’t make 25 dollars worth to get the tips they get.
I will go ahead and assume that Kongregate uses the money that developers get from Kreds but pays out of pocket when the paychecks go out.

Agreed – it should just be cumulative with ad revenue.

The money can eventually pay for itself through interest and investments in addition to the money that will never get paid out. It’s similar to how banks work (except they pay some interest).

the problem with this is that they both work differently, tips are 100% to the dev (no tax) whereas ad rev has to be taxed.
