A hundred Kreds for thousands users will be a tad expensive for the website.

100 kreds is $10. Say that there’s 100 birthdays per day. That’s $1,000 in free kreds – per day. $30,000 a month. So instead of being able to hire 2… 3… 4… more people to help make Kongregate better, they’re giving away free kreds. Also, this.

For one year (not counting new users registered) they’d have to pay out 90 million dollars as birthday kreds. They’d go pretty bankrupt…
Not just that, but it is very easy to abuse by making tons of accounts that have birthday tomorrow (then probably donate the kreds to their game if they have).
Some kind of birthday reward would be nice though. A [B] icon perhaps, or 100-200 points.

A [B] icon perhaps
Cake icon!
I agree, though. Far too easy to abuse with alt accounts.

A little birthday icon on your birthday would be a very nice touch. I think users would notice this and really appreciate it. Nice idea!
But no, the kreds idea would never work. Even 10 kreds would be too much.

100 is a bit much for a b-day.

A cake icon would be sweeeeet.
Totally unnecessary and perhaps frivolous, but sweeeeet.

Wow. Now that would be a good social idea if implemented on Kong.
Y’know, king for a day, and eat when there’s cake that sort of thing.
Edit: (btw 5 kreds for having a 2/4/6/8/10-year-anniversary would be good)
I mean, if you COULD have sleeper accounts, spambots might forget about it, or something hopefully.

I’ll make 365 alt accounts with every single day as my birthday on the alts! On each day I only play on that account. That waiz, my birthday’s everyday! ^^

Goos luck remembering the birthdates. I’d bet 1 of YOUR kreds that you wouldn’t make it to April without making a mistake in username or password or birthdate.

Maybe 1 or 10 kreds, not 100 that’s waaaayyyy to much, but either way, people could make alts and just get tons of kreds and donate them to his/her main.

Why do people need to get “free” kreds given to them, anyways? In all seriousness.
You can buy them, first of all. Since they’re money to begin with and have a monetary value. Secondly, there’s already ways to get free ones.
The perfect analogy is gas. A grocery chain gave you X cents off your next gas purchase with $Y spent at their store, so that was a discount. Because you spend a lot of money on gas and can get discounts, you wouldn’t fill your tank, walk in and say you don’t feel like paying for it this week.
I know this thread is kind of light hearted and I’m ruining the mood. But this kind of entitlement attitude pisses me off and it’s been especially strong the last few days.

People do like free stuff, this is true. Sometimes we go overboard.
Kreds have monetary value and they can’t really just give them away.
Although maybe in the future we’ll have more promotions like that one (I totally forget the name), where we got points or kreds daily.
I still support a birthday icon of some sort though. xD Maybe a party hat?

No. I disagree. Cake is the ultimate representation of everything.

So, everything can be represented in terms of cake? No more kreds? No more money? Sounds great. Messy, but great.
Fort Knox filled with cake
Cash registers crammed full of messy, gooey cake
Wallets, handbags and piggy banks dripping with cake
Stock markets trading in cake
Scrooge McDuck swimming in cake
ATMs dispensing cake
Time is cake
Cake can’t buy happiness
Cake makes the world go around
Cake is the root of all evil

Wicked awesome, those things.
Time is cake, cake makes the world go around.
I’m sorry, what’s changed between what is and what will be?
Cake can’t buy happiness, cake is the root of all evil.

there’s already ways to get free ones.
Word “free” is a relative word
For example, if you’re searching a way to gain free kreds, you’re likely either:
A) Asked to buy a service/product where kreds comes as topping of the sale, giving you monetarical discount but still not giving your kreds entirely free
B) Surveys. While you likely don’t pay a single cent for the surveys you succecfully fill out, you’re exchanging your private information for a handful of kreds which in a way, is an investment. If private info is not needed, then it’s all about making a small effort to provide statistics for the survey manager(s)
Yes, you can earn kreds without paying but remember that you’re always exchanging it to something else
More on topic, even your birthdays shouldn’t be a way to earn free kreds because of the easiness of abuse
