Could you list all the older badge-worthy games with great ratings and API?

If its rating holds up, [Coloruid](http://www.kongregate.com/games/PasKuda13/coloruid) is worth a quick medium badge for completing all 16 levels. (Completing all the levels might be an easy badge; it’s not that hard.)

I’ve been playing a lot of [Caravaneer 2](http://www.kongregate.com/games/SugarFreeGames/caravaneer-2/) these past couple of days, but this game is making me feel dumber than I’ve ever felt in my life. I lost track of how long it took me just to figure out very basic elements of the interface (I still have no idea what about half of the stuff means or does, and I keep dying while traveling without really understanding why), and I’m still plugging away at the very first quest. I’ve visited all the cities, but I guess I need to buy crickets to sell them at a loss to this one guy so he’ll let me contact another village or something. I have no idea how to earn money other than wandering around and fighting raiders, but I lose half these battles, and the other half seem to cost more in resources than I get back. The most obvious answer here is to buy goods from some places and sell them at other places, but I have no idea what good prices to buy/sell are, and mapping this out without any kind of indication within the interface would take a ridiculous amount of time.
I seriously have no idea what I’m doing in this game, and I’ve sunk an embarrassing number of hours into it. I’m getting close to crossing this game off my list due to my own sheer ineptitude with it. If anyone has any general advice for someone with the equivalent mental capacity of a 5-year-old while playing this game, I would love to hear it, but otherwise I’m just getting frustrated and not making any real progress toward a set of badges.

I just emailed the developer about implementing our stats API — if that’s added I’ll start working on it.

I thought I was the only one to get completely lost on Caravaneer 2. There are too many options and buttons to explore.
What about revisiting older games (like **Hexad** )?

Greg, I feel the exact same way. I feel so lost when playing the game. I wouldn’t mind one bit if you crossed it off your list.

Infectionator survivors is going to be a steam game though. You should make sure that they won’t pull a Mu Complex first before you give it a badge. Not that these devs are that evil, but this is only a demo, and you should make sure whether or not the game is gonna be up here forever or go away after the it goes out on steam.

It’s probably a good idea to make sure, but the Infectionator dev has a pretty track record, so it may be decent enough to give them a bit of trust. Plus they’re fully admitting it’s just a demo, so I think they’re going to keep it like that instead of releasing it as a Steam game later on and removing it here like Mu.

They didn’t name it “alpha demo” for nothing. It’s telling for the current state of games on kong that it’s considered for badges.
On that note, if you look at the monthly payout from the dev contest, you’ll find that about 50% of the prizes are going to idle-game developers, so not only are there hardly any good new games, the ones we really don’t want are getting encouraged to push more of that crud.

So, you want advice… I would give you some, but I didn’t play it yet, and this is due to your fault. If this game had badges, I would play it and give you advice :O)

i myself hasn’t played caravaneer 2 since i myself is waiting for the badge to come out, but if you are having trouble to know how it works, that will be the same to others. so.. i’m suggesting to just give it an easy badge like how you did on caravaneer.
i might try it myself this weekend to check if i can get profit in that game.

it’s already written as demo, so i doubt it will be. but it’s not that hard to ask.. i think.
the game itself is really fine although it’s just a demo. i mean.. i can’t beat the second stage yet (i gave up after i find out that i hardly can heal the members).

I don’t think it’s likely, since Toge Productions has a better rapport with their fanbase.

It’s fun enough and very accessible, it’s not very hard though, don’t know if it’s even hard enough for a medium completion, then again, easy might be aimed too low, probably sooner an easy medium badge than a hard easy badge.
completion badge name proposition: “ **color me impressed** ”

A single medium badge for completing **Coloruid** is fine. Cool game.

Okay, so I think I’m removing Caravaneer 2 from the list. I do apologize for this, because it does have a high rating, and it does have a dedicated following, and I know I’ve been promising badges for a long time.
But the appeal of this game just seems too niche, and it’s taking way too much time. I understand why it has a high rating, but I also suspect that this may be partially inflated by a silent majority of players who quit out of frustration, but don’t give the game a low rating because it’s not so much that the game is bad so much as people likely feel that it’s “not for them.” This is certainly how I feel. And I worry that this silent group might not be so silent if the game were promoted with badges.
I might change my mind later — if the game received some kind of update with tooltips and a tutorial and explanations and more hand-holding near the beginning, I’d almost certainly reverse course. But for now, I’m just thinking about the experience that I’ve personally had with the game, and I’m not feeling much desire to replicate this experience for others on a large scale by promoting a new set of badges in the game.
It is perhaps worth mentioning that I think of badge design as being like 90% what not to do. Seriously, I gave a [GDC talk](http://gdcvault.com/play/1018089/Designing-Compelling-Achievements) a few years ago that was literally titled “Trying Not to Ruin Other People’s Games” (if I seem nervous/awkward in that video, it’s because I had actually passed the point of nervousness and made my way into the realm of sheer public-speaking-related terror). It is perhaps also worth mentioning that I have two games of my own on Kongregate, and I never really wanted to give badges to them for reasons similar to Caravaneer 2 — they’re super niche, and I’m quite certain that the comments and feedback would turn far more negative if I exposed them to Kongregate’s loyal badge-hunters, rather than an audience of people who play the games just for the sake of playing them.
This post is getting longer than I intended, but I really do feel bad about this, and would like to offer my internal logic process.
Anyway, I’m putting up a medium badge for completion in [Coloruid](http://www.kongregate.com/games/PasKuda13/coloruid) tomorrow. Suggest names if you’d like!

Can game with 500k plays be considered a niche game? I don’t want to name any examples, since I don’t have anything against other games, but by browsing some older badged games we can see plenty that have way less plays, some even 10 times less.
I haven’t even played it yet (asides of fooling around for 5 minutes), so its not like I’m upset about game that I like not getting badges. What I find strange is that Greg is basically putting games that he personally doesn’t enjoy into “too niche” box while giving badges to borderline shovelware games like Strikeforce Kitty or completely uninspiring reskins like Sentry Knight 2 (which is about same age as Caravaneer 2, is not niche, has badges and has noticeably less plays, it even suggest you to play “full” version on ArmorGames which is kinda funny all things considered). It seams counter productive.
Edit: yeah, I realise that I said I don’t want to name any examples and eventually mentioned Sentry Knight 2, oh well :(
