As the official Adventure Capitalist forum President I would like to request a badge for said game. I told the other users on that board that AdCap won’t get badges because it’s an idle game but they insisted I ask since I’m their president.

I’m planning badges in [Reach the Core](http://www.kongregate.com/games/mmx95/reach-the-core) for tomorrow, but you guys know how I am. I’m thinking a medium for reaching the core and an easy for collecting materials. I don’t think I’m going to bother with a speed run for this one. Anyway, suggest names if you’d like!

Nope!
Earning badges require you to do something with some amount of skill to earn that sweet tasty reward. Since idle games can achieve a lot of progress by doing nothing, they aren’t really badged. The only two idle games that were badged was Anti-Idle: The Game and Farm of Souls for a promo where Kong was bringing back great games from the dead (although AI:TG never really died).

IMO this is not true at all. You need some strategy and effort to progress in Idle games.
The fun thing is that everyone could do it, some are just able to reach a certain point faster with said effort.
I find it strange that some very popular games won’t get any badges because “lol no, it’s an idle game, idle games are for noobs and they don’t deserve rewards”.
You just can’t ignore their popularity and their rankings. Badges add just that little extra to already fun games.
oh, and badging Idle games is still better than badging nothing at all. It would be a good way to fill those empty gaps we have lately.

The problem of Idle games is that the thing keeps going over and over for days, weeks…It’s like “Open the game, click, build, click more, upgrade, build more, click, quit for 8 hours, re-login, use money for build/upgrades” and repeat for infinite times, including the Prestige system. AGAIN, that does not include AITG once again, as the things are a lot more complex than in other Idle games, which most of them do not even require a strategy.

This is exactly the same as a good number of MMOs, yet that doesn’t stop them from getting badged.

Are you using that as a reason for badging idles or against badging p2w mmos? Cuz only one of those is the right answer. ~~Hint: Pro stance is bad stance.~~

Seriously, greg, these kind games used to get hard badges for speed completion in minimum days, but never anymore. I suck it at it, but I wonder why?

@calle Probably has to do with the length of the game. It’s pretty long from what I’ve seen.

Yes, I take that back. I wasn’t that long in the game yet and thought it would be easy or that there was a strategy to optimize game length. But even if there is it’s probably too long for a time management badge.

Yeah, speed completion would be pretty rough for this game, which doesn’t really offer any rapid advancement techniques and takes quite a few runs. I am a little surprised, though, that there’s not a hard badge (or at least a second medium) planned for unlocking the candy drill, which feels like the actual end of the game. (As far as names, I don’t think I can do better than Precarious’s Material Whirl for the easy, but I’ll brainstorm about the medium.)

Honestly, I’d recommend a hard just for completion; it’s pretty long.

I suppose you could make an endurance hard for jumping to another planet. Shouldn’t take more than 100 days if you don’t mess around too much, less if you try.

The proposed medium badge is a tough one to name. I’ve been thinking about centers and planets and digging and plasma and I’m coming up pretty much empty. About all I’ve got so far is Eight Hundred Meter Dash, which is still pretty lame and feels like it’s focusing on the wrong thing. Maybe something else will strike me.

Yeah, it was a bit longer than I expected — it took me a couple of hours. It is really easy, though, and they days go by very quickly. It would either be a long medium or an easy hard; I think I’m leaning toward the former, but I can see the argument for the latter.

Early yesterday I finished the game and kept playing to see if it would make sense to add another badge to something else. I’m at the point now where I can collect about 10 plasma from the core per run, but it’s soooo slow. One upgrade will take 20 plasma (or whatever that stuff is). I’m not sure how the candy drill is unlocked, but I rescued that one guy and it didn’t seem to do anything, other than provide some resources. I was having a lot of fun with this game when I reached the core, and even for an hour or two after I reached the core, but now it’s getting kind of boring.
There’s a part of my brain that’s suggesting “You Know the Drill” for the medium badge, since there are so many games like this, but that might be too cheesy…
